The play was honestly quite boring. The actors didn’t make any attempts to hide that they were … well, actors. The lighting and effects were mediocre at best as well and nothing really stood out. Except a theory of course.
Could two souls fit into a single body? The theory the play presented was quite interesting to be honest. It was obvious the body would degrade quicker than usual as it was intended to serv as a vessel for one soul.
But theoretically? Well, I had enough time at the beach to figure that out. I had already caught to crabs and thus looked down into a wooden bucket at some point. Both were still completely healthy and so, I picked one out at random. Ripping its legs and pincers out in a rather deserted area of the beach, I quickly killed it and stopped its soul from escaping to purgatory right away.
“Now … how do I do that?” I had no chant prepared to succeed in what I intended to do at all. And thus, all I could do was to press the dead, damaged soul into the other crab with brute force. I could feel how exerting my strength began to tear on my soul as well, far more than it should do.
But I pressed onwards, not caring about any injuries that would eventually heal itself anyway, and pushed the dead soul onwards with sheer willpower.
Blood began to run out of my nose halfway through and made me curse unhappily. At least it didn’t get on my bikini.
At last though, the blue soul vanished completely into the other crab, but even then, I only felt the opposing force increase considerably.
My vision got kind of hazy at some point and as the blood running out of my nose turned into a steady stream, I knew it was time to let it rest for the time being.
Letting go of the dead soul, I witnessed how it was catapulted outwards and vanished into the ground immediately afterwards as I didn’t stop it from getting to purgatory anymore.
“Wow … why am I so weak?” There was an opposing force to my plans which I had vastly underestimated, but my soul, the basis for my power was damaged beyond my expectations. And I could already guess the reasons which ranged from the helplessness I felt at night to my heart which wouldn’t stop hurting whenever I looked at this cursed body of water. My soul was already worn down because of that.
Maybe, I would be able to get along with this body of water like I did with the one on the archipelago world eventually. But until that would happen, I would need to spent a long time there until my subconscious understood there was nothing to be feared. Maybe.
Or maybe, it was Aska’s deathly presence which healed my soul as much as the fear of water hurt me … I seriously didn’t know what it was.
Well, at least I had confirmed two things. One was obviously that I was weak to water in any way I could possibly think of. And other, far more interesting finding was that there was no way I could put two souls in one body … maybe. The story spoke about two twins which may have two similar souls unlike these crabs.
“Where do I find twins now?” I asked myself and realised that it had to wait a little. I would get my hands on twins eventually, but it was far more viable to give Tom that task. Sighing quietly, I stood up and put the bucket back to where it belonged. The other crab even survived my test, proving once and for all how kind of a person I was.
“And now, back to being the cheerful saint …” I muttered and strolled back towards Hannah while keeping my distance from the water.
“Hello there.” I mumbled and threw myself into the sun lounge right next to her. The wooden construction creaked a little under me unhappily, but thankfully held out perfectly fine otherwise.
“And? How is your sandcastle going?” Hannah asked still reading the newspaper she was holding in her hands.
“Gone in the wind.” I mumbled and stretched myself a little. Closing my eyes, I rested my little underneath the burning sun and only opened my right eye as I felt the sun being blocked of by someone. Pulling my sunglasses a bit downwards, I looked over them and noticed a boy from Schwarz’s class standing right beside me.
“Hey, we wanted to play beach volleyball for a bit and are missing one person. Do you want to join?” The answer was fucking obvious at this point. I just wanted to be left alone for the time being and not play this shitty game with them.
“Sure.” I said, feigning to be happy like always and stood up from the sun lounge. I didn’t want to, but I kind of had to. I was Lucy dove after all, always cheerful, always helpful. And so, I couldn’t help myself but to stroll over to the field where four other students were already waiting.
“Nice one Lucas!” Really? Asking a girl to join with up with five other boys was nice? And somehow, I had the feeling I wasn’t invited because there weren’t any other students around … but oh well.
“Hey, do we really have to play with her? I really don’t want to deal with that guy.” A green haired teenager on my team complained which was fair to be honest. Schwarz was obnoxious and gave his best to make others hate him as much as possible. It was phenomenal he was still admitted at the academy considering how often he had a fight with others.
“Oh … I can go if you don’t want me around.” I proposed nicely.

“He doesn’t mean it like that.” Lucas said right away.
“And what if I do? What if I don’t want to argue with Schwarz later just because you invited the girl you have a crush on?” Oh well … Lucas was one of these. In al honesty, I didn’t interact much with him so far, but he was apparently one of many who fell in love with me, the idealised version of a perfect heroine.
“I … don’t have a crush on Lucy?” Yeah … he didn’t convince anybody.
“Ohh … really?” I just wanted to interject as the green haired boy looked to the side, his expression turning sour within an instant. “Nicely done. Now he is coming over.” Looking over my shoulder, I could see Schwarz in the distance, stomping the sand underneath his feet angrily. Ehh … poor Lucas would need to deal with a very envious Schwarz later. If he would just have invited other girls as well it wouldn’t be this obvious he wanted to get closer to me.
“Hey Schwarz … how are you doing?” I asked a bit confused as the running Schwarz stopped only a few centimetres away from me looking at everyone around us as if they wanted to steal his prized treasure.
“I’m fine, thanks for asking.” He said and looked at me intensely. “I’ll play for her.”
“You aren’t welcome here.” The green haired teenager said and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
“Great, if that’s the case, I can take her with me.” He said, turned around and squatted down somewhat. His hands were at my thighs faster than I could react and thus, I was picked up without much struggle from my side.
“Hey, let me down!” I demanded right away, but he apparently had other plans and started running immediately. Wary of being thrown off, I hugged his neck from behind tightly, which may have been exactly what this sicko wanted.
“So that they continue to hit on you? Hell no.” Aww, how cute of him to see me as a possession, rather than as someone who could make their own decisions regarding their love live.
“Schwarz … let me down.” I said, only then noticing how Lucas was following us while shouting at Schwarz to stop.
“No.” He said and continued to run, until a wall of sand blocked off our way and Schwarz stopped momentarily. The promenade was too high for him to reach with me on his back which was why he quickly discarded this option and dashed directly for the lake.
“LET ME DOWN!” I screamed once more and pushed against him, but he was still holding on tightly, even though I gave my best to push him off balance.
Water splashed all around us as he continued to run unhindered as I had turned incredibly stiff. My throat was squeezing tightly, my heart hurt like crazy and my vision got smaller and smaller as darkness crept into it from the sides.
And then, the water reached up to my feet. Choking on nothing but air, I made some very unladylike sounds which was probably the first time Schwarz noticed my trembling.
“Hey, what’s u-“ Somehow, we were tilting backwards, possibly due to some magic Lucas invoked, which was definitely the last action be could take to get on my good side.
In a split second, I could feel how my back got wet and went from stiff to being active in the worst possible way. Weakly, I began to wriggle against his grasp on me once more and actually managed to get free right away, which meant I was falling into the water alone, rather then being buried by Schwarz completely.
Time seemed to slow down a little, just to spite me, and with wide open eyes, I realised that water was already all over my face, hurting my eyes and flowing into my open mouth.
I wanted to scream so badly, so loudly and started to trash around with all I got, desperately trying to reach the surface, but all I did was to get water into my lungs.
And then, I finally reached the sandy floor and I felt how my own soul was torn to shreds for the mere second I was awake. It hurt way too much for anyone to to endure, especially because it wasn’t the good kind of pain. It just hurt … and nothing else.
Honestly, I was kind of thankful that my vision turned completely black within a few seconds and I fell unconscious immediately afterwards. At least this way, my soul was spared of any further damage my feelings might have caused.
