Claire used her demiurge to look into his heart lake when Yamasaki leaned closer to her and asked in an uncertain voice, "Claire, can I hug you?"

Her heart skipped a beat. Her eyes widened and her brows knitted together in a frown. But then to her own surprise, she nodded.

She saw his eyes lit up–almost fervent–but when he hugged her, his touch was gentle.

His carefulness seemed to have affected her as her stiff body relaxed. She found herself resting on him; his scent calming her further.

Why did he smell so good? She was perplexed by her own reaction.

When he kissed her, she couldn't oppose him and felt her heart burst out. Blood rushed to her cheeks and her eyes got clouded with confusion and never before known pleasure.

Just then the fog inside of his heart lake cleared. She saw a never ending wide path and a tall, black haired man walking on it.

He looked to his right and his gaze became gentle. A woman with a blurry face appeared out of nowhere. She held his hand and walked together with him, her face forming a mosaic smile.

The woman whispered something to him and suddenly burst apart–blood splattered all over the man's body. He looked stunned, his eyes dimmed but his feet didn't stop.

Another woman with a similar presence and figure appeared beside him. She also held his hand and traveled with him.

Covered in blood, the man sneaked glances at her and as he did, the path became narrower; darkness slowly consuming it.

Claire seemed to be looking at Eric's past life again. She saw how a lonely man wanted to get away from the woman beside him but couldn't.

Another woman in red appeared ahead of him, carving a bright path for him.

But then everything became twisted and blurry; soon there was nothing but a murky gloom.

Half of the man's face changed and became familiar. As he walked, he sank further into the wicked black; he still didn't stop. Until a bright land revealed itself.

There stood a woman in black; a beauty practicing her sword. Both of them stopped and stared at each other.

The woman extended her hand towards the two faced man and her lips curled up in a mesmerizing smile.

The man was tempted but the path became harder to trudge on as skeletons, burned and disfigured corpses manifested themselves on his back.

The man in the end turned around and darkness engulfed him.

Yamasaki was on top of her and he seemed to be on the verge of crying, his gaze filled with uncertainty. Claire felt her heart stabbed by this scene.

They only knew each other for like ten days but their feelings were so complicated.

As far as she could remember, he was the only one whom she comfortably talked with, the only one who made her hopeful and then disappointed at the same time.

He was the only man she forgave when he ogled at her, when he made dirty jokes. Unknown to her, she had started to like his expressive eyes that had never lied to her.

He was the only one who made her feel free.

Was this love? She wasn't sure. She never liked to think about such abstract things like love.

She was only sure of one thing. She wanted to see the young man in front of her to smile from the bottom of his heart.

So her lips curled up for the first time since her hazy childhood. She took the initiative to kiss him–though clumsy, her tender touch was backed by the theoretical knowledge she received in the past.

Yamasaki was speechless. He didn't react until she separated from him. This was not the time to hesitate. He understood that if he didn't express his feelings then he would never be able to take a step forward.

So he took a deep breath and confessed, "Claire, I like you."

His words made her feel like she was in heaven. Now it was clear even to her that she also liked him. So she said, "I also like you."

They proceeded to kiss even more passionately, rolling on the bed, their clothes in disorder.

Claire was on top of him, her hand on his hard chest and his arm around her waist.

She suddenly lay her face on his shoulder as if hiding herself and asked in a voice as soft as a mosquito, "will we do it now?"
