Chapter 17: Chapter 15.5: Warped Bond

Sometimes when you fuck with the natural order of things, you distort its original pure and beautiful nature into something much darker.

All orders and organizations knew one thing, bonds are not to be fucked with. Sadly, nobody said this to the Sorcerers' Lodge, a group of women archmagi who did have the word 'sanctity' in their vocabulary. They figured out how to 'break' a bond that was not complete(level 3) at no cost to the tamer.

In a world where women had most seats of power, they did not truly understand the ramifications and saw it as an easy way to uptick the number of available free labor. They often bought off desired tier 4s and tier 5s at extremely inflated prices if they were bonded. This created a bad loop of tamers bonding monster girls only to sell them off for massive life-changing profits. There was just a small hiccup, monster girls loved their bonded tamers and in a world where they could be with their beloved tamers was a world they did not want to live in at all.

'Cleanse' another invention of the same organization became a catch-all solution to essentially 'resetting' the monster girl. This also had a bit of a snag. You needed a woman to perform the act, and though the process itself was quick and easy, the Sorcerers' Lodge has yet to find a way to do this in bulk. The end result is a lot of broken monster girls laying around that did not have the will to live.

The circle of [heroes] and the taming trials were outraged at the state of things, but when they were in the minority as the profits from expanding humanity's reach into more and more of the mystic zones far outweighed the lives of a 'couple' of monster girls. 

Multiple failed cases were thrown around the most prominent being to reduce the exorbitant price of gems as a way to mitigate the growing number of 'unproductive' monster girls. The case was thrown out with the final statement from the head female judge being, "Just kill the monster girls for scrap, they are a copper a dozen".

Finding themselves in a losing battle, they instead turned their attention to helping the poor souls instead of trying to fix a broken but extremely profitable system. They gave these poor souls a second chance at life by pairing them with new tamers who are more likely to become attached than a veteran with decades of experience. 

The tamer's guild and merchant's guild saw it as a way to dump unwanted merchandise and partnered with them to create a new system of 'rehabilitating unwanted monster girls'. Of course, they charged a fee for the service but the circle of [heroes] and the taming trials ate the losses as being run by immortal [heroes] made their pockets rather deep.

Here is where our little history lesson takes a dark dive. This breaking and re-stitching of bonds were, to say the least, extremely unnatural, especially when it happened multiple times. 

The soul was a godly powerful but extremely intricate thing, and sometimes... it deformed. It caused what is now commonly referred to as the warped bond(refer to the glossary if you want an in-depth explanation of what a warped bond is).

This powerful but extremely volatile bond was first met with a lot of controversies as it spat in the face of what a level 3 bond stood for.

However, during the war of the 'Great Collapse' tactically using the volatile nature of the warped bond to wipe out score after score of monsters, the opinions on it softened.

 In a tragic turn of events, outside of the original [heroes], most instead viewed the warped bond as a powerful variant of the complete bond. One that, although depended a lot on luck, took significantly less investment to get a much more powerful bond.

Society ever after encouraged the formation of these bonds as, during monster waves, one tier 4 on a feral rage did the job of a dozen tier 5 angels.

The celestial order turned a blind eye to this as angels uniquely could not suffer from negative bond levels and used it as an example of how pure they were as an existence. 

Over time, most of the dissenting voices were silenced and it became just another thing that rarely happened. 

That was the honest truth, in a world where monster girls are a commodity, monster girls were at the but end of every joke, no matter how cruel. Ethics died in the face of power, and when a warped bond represented so much... There was no never any hope in the first place.
