Chapter 47: Chapter 40: Hunter against hunter

Three bodies moved with extreme ease bantering among themselves unaware of the shadows that moved.

Hilariously, it would be a bit yet before the prey even realized that predators were on the prowl. After all, what happens when two opposing factions that want to rip the other to pieces meet? A massacre.

Just beyond the senses of their prey and one hidden predator, two opposing forces faced off. On one side stood a singular demon lord, the greatest scourge to ever challenge the celestial order. On the other, a squadron of valkyries led by an apostle of the order.

Despite the difference in number, both stood absolutely still. There was a promise of violence in the air, one that could detonate at any moment.

It was the apostle that initiated the conversation.

"As much as I would like to remove your blight from this world, I have been sent on an important mission. Leave, and your judgment shall be prolonged for a while longer."

The demon lord, put one of her beautiful purple fingers to her ruby red full lips as she said, looking very unconcerned.

"No. I think I would rather stay for I have a delicious boy to catch you see. Since you were so nice I will extend the same courtesy. Leave, otherwise, I will finally get my helping of Apostle essence and you will not survive the experience."

Both parties looked each other dead in the eye, waiting for the other to do something. 

The silence broke as one of the Valkyries shouted.

"For the order!"

A lance of steel and brilliant white light rocketed at infernal only to be shattered by a backhand.

The fight had begun.

Within the time it took to blink six of the eight Valkyries surrounded her in the shape of a hexagram. Two of them rushed her one in front, the other in the back, both of them striking her midriff to cut her in half. Their blades came in contact with her exquisite skin and stopped dead in their tracks.

"That was cute. Now my turn."

Both valkyries tried to fly back but their reaction was a little too late as the demon grabbed their legs and squeezed.

The next thing that happened would have been gruesome, if not for the fact that angels were made of mostly celestial energy. Their cries of agony were no less spine-chilling. 

Their legs knee down exploded in a flash of celestial energy as they were ripped off.

"Pride demon!"

Both valkyries tried to limp away, one managed to move but the other felt a pressure on her spine as she lay on the ground.

"You can still walk away. I am still feeling merciful." She said playfully applying a slight amount of pressure.

In response, each of the valkyries in formation glowed and a six-sided wall of pure holy energy encased her.

"A shame." she struck her foot down, hard.

 A cry was cut short as the valkyrie exploded into brilliant white energy. Yet the vicinity of the explosion had no visible effect on the demon at all.

She looked at her prison and said.

"Really? Do you think this can hold me? You apostles are dumber than you look." 

"Just try and break through demon." Said the apostle unconcerned at the ease at which his monster girl was dismantled.

"I guess I shall."

The demon sensually came to the wall closest to the apostle and threw a punch.

It was like an earthquake had hit with the shockwaves it generated but the barrier held. She looked slightly confused, she threw another punch, much harder this time. The air ignited with the speed of her strike but the result was even more meager.

The apostle looked at her with a victorious smug smile.

"The Cage of Pity becomes more powerful the more you exert and it consumes the essence of any monster girl inside to empower itself. Give up, demon. You fell for our trap and now your life is forfeit." 

She looked at him, slightly pouting now.

"That is not very nice, I am the one that's supposed to gobble you up. You are so naughty. Trying to do the same to your mistress." She gave out the last words with a sultry purr. Her eyes slightly glowed with the statement.

"Hah! I am blessed by heaven. I am immune to your parlor tricks. Now repent, for your end is at hand."

One could now see wave after wave of demonic energy pouring off her. 

She looked at him with a smirk.

"I wanted to play a little longer. What a sad turn of events... Oh well."

"What nonsense do you speak of..."

A sword engulfed in infernal flame was stabbed through one of the valkyries lost in her chant in the formation. There was an immediate explosion of holy light as the valkyrie died and the barrier around the first demon shimmered and then shattered releasing miasmic energy everywhere.

The six remaining angels and the apostle looked at the second intruder in shock. Wreathed in shadow one could not make out their frame only the sword that seemed to be sticking out of the shadow.

"The nobles have been alerted. Finish this quick."

"Can I grab the apostle for a snack?"

"Only if you share."

The involvement of the second intruder sealed the fate of the order. They fought valiantly but were quickly dispatched by the two much stronger monster girls.

In the end, all that remained of the order's forces was the apostle. Who now was visibly panicked.

He quickly brought out a teleportation crystal only to find it inactive. He kept trying to activate the gem but to no avail.

"Sorry love, but my aura corrupted most of your magic items. You are going to die soon but I promise, it will be delightful."

The apostle tried running away, only to collide with the intruder wreathed in shadow. To say he collided was a bit much, it would more accurate to say he fell into the shadow and disappeared within it.

"Meal secured. Let's leave. We do not want to end like Eisheth." 

"Are they close?"

"Closer than I would like."

"Gah! Table scraps again then I guess."

"Soon, sister soon."
