First of all, that was the end of the second volume of the story and we were about to enter the third. But while making up ideas I realized I was scaling too much too fast and to backtrack and fix the progression was going to be an arduous task that honestly is not going to be fun to write and I write because I enjoy telling the story. Also, there is motivation issues because I failed to build up my characters and I added too many too fast without allowing the old ones to breathe I could go on and on about the faults that just kept piling up and the more I reread my own story, the more I realized how completely off the rails it went.
The systems were too complex to manage even in my head, the absurd power growth but the complete lack of character growth, especially for the mc. I originally wanted to make a more lighthearted story with the big bad getting introduced slowly but I fucked up the power scaling so badly that she had to be introduced much earlier than intended.
I guess that comes with the territory of being a discovery writer, and the only good news is that my skill has improved drastically over the last eight months since I first started writing, and I believe I can add more depth to this story. Heck if guys saw the first two iterations of lord of cauldrons, you would know just how much I have improved. I am still not there, but if I keep writing, I will be. Or at least that is the hope.
Ok, end of long-winded self-justifications and on to what is going to happen and what I am going to do.
Rewrite the story from scratch using the first one as building blocks like the lord of cauldrons. Unlike lord of cauldrons I will keep the story up, now do I start using a new title or start writing chapter 1 again from where the last iteration ended is still up in the air, that is still up in the air. I can also give a summary of what was supposed to happen in the previous iteration of the story and how it was supposed to end if anyone is interested.
Some of the things I will do in the next iteration are.
-Simplify the RPG aspects.
-spend more time per tame like I have been doing with the cauldrons in lord of cauldrons
-start from the very beginning and create a more balanced mc with more understandable growth patterns.
-Create a simple journey of him growing up traveling across this overly sexualized world while trying to grow as a person.
-Add more social elements between other tamers and people that felt left behind in my current iteration of the story.
-Build out the world a bit more in writing instead of chucking it to the side.
And a couple of other things that I can't remember because I was up all night mulling over my decision of whether to commit.
As a final note, Sorry to any who felt cheated, I truly am. If any want to leave they have the complete right to. Those who want to stick around, thank you. I hope one day I can grow confident enough in my writing to be proud of what I have written so I do not second guess myself so much and give you a piece of work that if nothing else gives a bit snippet of joy.
With that, see you next chapter.
