World Seven. Stand-in Lover (13)
The air pressure in the car was unpleasantly low.
Xue Xue glanced at Chi Yu, who was driving expressionlessly, and quietly pulled the window down a crack.
In the late summer and early autumn, the climate was dry and pleasant, and the cool breeze blew away the sultry heat and also made Xue Xue’s mind clearer.
Taking advantage of the stop at the red light, Xue Xue leaned her head on the man’s shoulder.
“Angry?”
It seems that he didn’t expect Xue Xue to ask so directly. Chi Yu’s body stiffened for a moment, and after a long while he denied it duplicitously. “No.”
Xue Xue smiled at his insincere words.
“Really not?” Xue Xue asked again, raising her hand at the same time and stroking the blue vein on Chi Yu’s arm that was faintly raised by force. “I was going to explain it to you.”
“Explain what?” Chi Yu’s words came out fast and hard. “You can also explain now.”
The man paused for a while. When the green light came on, he stepped on the accelerator and didn’t speak again.
But Xue Xue knew that his eyes had been glancing at her all the time.
Finding that the man’s face became more and more gloomy with her silence, Xue Xue also knew how to let go, and stopped teasing him.
“Actually, there’s nothing to explain.” Xue Xue said casually as she put down the mirror and carefully tidied up her appearance. “I originally thought that Director Luo wanted to talk to me about business. In fact, this was the message I received, but I didn’t expect…”
“She also brought a man.”
Although Chi Yu’s tone was flat and straightforward, Xue Xue heard the sound of teeth gnashing from it.
She laughed.
“Well, it’s what you think.”
The topic was done here, and there was another silence.
“Did you exchange numbers?”
“Yes, but I just deleted it before I got in the car.”
As soon as this sentence was said, Chi Yu immediately tilted his head and stared at Xue Xue, as if he wanted to judge whether her words were true or false, but Xue Xue had long expected his actions, and looked at Chi Yu calmly. Her eyes were bright and moving, and she was smiling.
Chi Yu looked away a little embarrassedly, but the slightly flushed back of his ears betrayed his restless mood.
Xue Xue finally felt relieved when she saw Chi Yu’s reaction.
Although his state was still unstable, at least it seems that the man’s emotions were still within the controllable range, which also saved her from being led by the body instincts and always on edge.
This feeling was not good.
After the two sentences, there was no other sound in the car.
Chi Yu reached out and turned on the radio.

Now was the time to play music. The gentle female voice sang the popular love song briskly in a unique way, which made the listener’s mood improve.
Xue Xue hummed along for a while, she asked Chi Yu. “Not angry anymore?”
Hearing this, Chi Yu accidentally put his foot on the brake too hard, and when he stepped on the bottom, the whole car made a sharp noise and stopped suddenly.
Xue Xue was taken aback.
“It’s a red light.” Chi Yu gave an explanation and said. “I’m not angry.”
The words were calm, and there was no flaw on the face, but Xue Xue knew that Chi Yu definitely didn’t show that he cared, otherwise when he saw her walking out with Lin Ziqian, he won’t have exuded that overwhelming aura.
People who are as oppressive as a mountain of ten thousand are always on pins and needles.
After feeling the fear emanating from the depths of her own body at that moment, Xue Xue probably knew why Xue Li had chosen to let her complete her mission instead of coming back and doing it herself.
She may love Chi Yu and feel guilty about Chi Yu. Because of this love, she chose to forgive in the end, and hoped to help Chi Yu get out of the tragedy of fate, but she did not want to accompany Chi Yu on this journey.
Because Xue Li, who has been through it before, knew that one bad mistake can ruin everything.
She didn’t want to bear the pain that tortured her body and mind again.
“I’m really not angry.”
Perhaps he misunderstood Xue Xue’s silence, and Chi Yu emphasized it again.
Xue Xue, however, did not speak until the car pulled into the underground parking lot, and she rearranged her thoughts before slowly walking. “Ah Yu, do you think that if I hide it once, I will hide it again countless times.”
Chi Yu didn’t expect Xue Xue to say this, let alone that Xue Xue would call him “Ah Yu”.
This was not a name that appeared very often. From the beginning of the relationship to the present, only Chi Yu occasionally became passionate, and patiently coaxed again and again to make Xue Li relax.
He once wondered why the two couldn’t call each other by endearments like ordinary lovers, but only later did he realize that Xue Li had never opened her heart to him.
Because there was another man in her heart, so she had reservations.
He understood it too late.
“I know it’s my fault that I didn’t tell you.” After unbuckling the seat belt, Xue Xue did not get out of the car, but straightened her back. “But my original intention was just to hope that the two of us could be in a more equal footing when we didn’t know each other well enough.”
Hearing her say this, Chi Yu frowned. “You don’t trust me.”
“Yes, I don’t trust you.” Xue Xue admitted frankly. “I know this may sound more like an excuse to you, but Ah Yu, do you know how I grew up? Do you know how I took “Yao” from my grandfather and developed it to the size it is now? This is not a legendary story full of heroic qualities, but a … a dog-blooded family ethics drama, realistic to the extreme.”
When Xue Xue said the last part, her tone became sharp.
She rarely leaked her emotions like this, but Chi Yu was not completely ignorant of the Xue family’s mess, so he can understand Xue Xue’s feelings.
When he was thinking about how to comfort the other party, Xue Xue continued to speak, but instead of stating the facts, she asked Chi Yu. “So do you think it’s possible for me to be completely honest with someone I don’t know very well?”
Chi Yu froze.
