"Who are you?" Synthia's face turned a bit dark.

"Does it even matter who am I?" Max asked with a smile. "Besides, I don't think that is answer to my question here."

People looked at Max and Synthia arguing with an amused face. This was starting to get interesting.

"I don't know what you are talking about? Could you possibly be that cowards lackey who didn't even dare to show up?" Synthia asked with a snort. "Is he afraid of showing his face and stand in front of me? Is this the method he is going to come up with in order to gain an advantage in front of all these people? By victimizing himself?"

"I have to say that earlier I didn't think much of him, but now it seems that he really is a trash at the bottom of the well," She further added and sneered at Max.

"Now that is pretty one sided opinion, if you ask me. Have you even met him in person once?" Max asked with a smile.

Synthia couldn't retort to that. She had never met Max after all. And to have such a strong opinion of a person that you hadn't even met once was pretty ridiculous to Max.

"See…you can't even answer to that. I don't even need to lift my glasses to see things clearly lady, may be you should try these. Who knows it might work better then your open eyes," Max said with a smile hinting towards his glasses.

People around couldn't help but laugh at that.

Let's be honest only dumb people wore sunglasses inside. Max clearly wasn't one though. It was just that a blindfold was currently his recognizing tag. If he stood up with that, he would probably recognized very soon. Hence, he just took a sunglass and covered its inner side so that even he wouldn't be able to see people through it.

Synthia's frown deepened when people began to laugh. It was clear that the situation from slipping from her hand. She would have to do something fast.

"I don't know who you are but the person whom you are supporting isn't even here. Isn't it just right, that someone will have to replace this irresponsible person?" Rihanna finally stood up to intervened. She had come to her friend's rescue.

"Lady, isn't your friend the reason that the person hasn't even arrived here yet?" Max shook his head. They really want to show him as incompetent.

"What proof do you have to back your words?" Rihanna suddenly threw a curved ball.

"Proof? You really make me laugh.." Max shook his head with a smirk on his face. "You call yourself qualified, the top of the Ancient Families and you don't even have the guts to admit something so small?"

"You are really making me look down on you.." He further added and people's expression changed for worse. They didn't know who the guy was but he really just made a direct attack on them.

"You better watch your words," A heavy voice rang out and people's face shifted towards the guy with a heavy built on the stage.

Ragnar's gaze locked onto Max and his aura suddenly burst forth and pressured down on Max.

"You want me to watch my words? Do you think you have the ability to make me do that?" Max shook his head as he stood there calmly without a slightest discomfort on his face.

A frown immediately appeared on the faces of the people above on the stage. Argus was an exception though, he just looked at the drama with a calm and amused face.

"You people up there are mostly aware of this matter, I don't think I need to prove it to anyone," Max's voice was loud. It was not known whether he was addressing the issue to the people on the balcony or the one on the stage. But it was clear that both the party had heard him pretty clearly.

"You said the previous guy lacked the courage, right? Then what about you? You can't even admit committing such a small thing?" He further said with a mocking smile.

"I did it." Rihanna suddenly spoke out and it immediately took people by surprise.

"Rih-" Synthia was taken back but before she could say anything Rihanna cut her off.

"This has nothing to do with anyone else. It was I who did it. Because, I didn't have confidence in that person leading us," Rihanna said while staring at Max.

"And who do you think are to decide that?" Max asked her as his face started to turn a bit terrifying. He was pissed actually. He didn't have any personal problem with these people but they had just started it now by talking trash about him and making personal attacks. And he wasn't someone who would let people walk all over him.

"Keep your voice down! Who do you think you are?" Synthia snapped when she saw that look on Rihanna's face. It almost seemed that she was about to tear up.

"Let's just say that, she did it. What then? Do you see anyone raising any questions? No one cares about that person. You can leave if you have a problem." She further added with a threatening glare.

When Max heard that he couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"It's my fault for being civil with shameless people like you." He was really disappointed today.

"Is this really fine? Are you guys not going to interfere?" Max asked in a loud voice when he was let on a familiar presence. The person had deliberately let his aura out for Max to sense. It was definitely one of those people who were in the Association's room that day.

When there was no response, Max shook his head and muttered, "Don't blame me for handling it my way then.."

With that, he took a step forward and his body started to change reverting back to his original form with each step he took. People's expression began to change as well and when Max finally was near the stage, he was back in his original look.

"I see….so it was you all along," Synthia said while glaring at him with a murderous eyes. There was no joke in them. She was clearly planning to kill Max and this made Max frown even harder. He couldn't understand what was the reason behind it. He was sure that if Someone killed him, the Ancient Family would eradicated those people. And yet this girl was revealing such a murderous intention. Either she had a screw lose or they had feud from the past life.

But did that interest Max? Hell no! He didn't give a sh*t to her reason, if someone dared to kill him he wouldn't mind doing the same.

The killing intent leaking from Synthia actually made quite a few people frown. This struggle was just a kid's banter to them. But killing someone whom the Lord of the Five Ancient Families had given approval to lead them was really too much.

Max turned his head and once again glanced at the balcony. This was the last chance, he better not have his patience tested today. After all he knew his importance, he wouldn't mind giving these people a lifelong lesson.

"Show me what the Ancient Families have got?" Max raised his hand beckoned.

"You will regret challenging me…" Synthia said with a chill in her eyes.

"Idiot, I am not challenging you," Max said with a laugh and paused before looking at the people above on the stage, "I am challenging all of you."

"…"

A silence enveloped the hall.

"Y-You!" Synthia snapped and a sword immediately appeared in her hand. The next instant, she pointed it towards Max and a strong gale kicked in the hall blowing chairs and over turning tables while people were forced to tightly held onto their seats.

"Whoosh!"

Synthia's face changed when Max suddenly disappeared in front of her and all her gale instantly dissipated as she suddenly found herself losing control of the energy around. She felt a chill creeping up her spine and tried to move but suddenly felt a strange feeling all over her body as if some was draining her life away and it immediately slowed her down.

"Bang!"

Synthia sucked in a cold breath as the blade of the dagger stopped an inch away from her throat.

She was just an inch away from death.

Max slowly turned his eyes to look at the people who were holding him.

The four people on the stage had rushed in at the aim moment and barely stopped him in time.

"Calm down! You are getting the wrong idea here," Argus said with a frown as a cold sweat slid down his forehead. He really hadn't expected thing to escalate like this. He never thought that Synthia would have thoughts of killing Max. The girl could really go crazy when she was determined.

"Stop! I am at fault! Don't do anything to her," Rihanna lightly pleaded Max almost tearing up. She was clearly frightened.

"You guys don't need to do this. I dare him to try and kill me," Synthia said with a snort.

Ragnar's face changed, he had been holding Max from behind and was clearly aware of how much strength Max was putting on right now. He was sure that he couldn't hold on if he was alone.

This girl really had a death wish for provoking such a beast.

A vein popped up on Max's face. In the end, he had slowed down due to Argus's voice at the aim moment that it was a misunderstanding. Otherwise did these people really think that they could have stopped him?

But now looking at this girl, he really doubted there was any misunderstanding here.

"Bang!"

His aura burst forth and sent the four people flying all around the room leaving behind only Max and Synthia on the stage.
