"What are you going to do, kill me now?" Synthia glared at Max with threatening eyes. She wasn't backing down at all.
Max slowly took a step towards her and the next instant Synthia felt a heaviness on her shoulder and felt herself sinking into the ground. But she still gritted her teeth and continued to glare at Max while refusing to bow down. But her will wasn't enough considering the difference in their strength.
As soon as Max took another step, Synthia couldn't help it any longer as her bones began to produce to creaking noise and her face twisted in pain as her knees slowly began to inch towards the ground.
"Whoosh!"
A person suddenly shot towards Max from the crowd and it turned out to be Rihanna. She had gotten up and rushed towards Max with a lance in her hand which immediately pierced towards his shoulder. She deliberately seemed to have avoided a vital point but too bad for her she wasn't qualified to be holding back here.
"Clang!"
Sparks flew around the as the two weapons clashed but Rihanna's eye widened next instant when she realized that the tip of her lance was easily blocked by the flat surface of Max's dagger. And no matter how much strength she put, she couldn't even shake Max's hand which was holding his dagger.
She immediately used her energy and the ground broke apart as flowers bloomed but as soon as it came near Max the flowers wilted away losing their connection with the energy.
"Please, stop it.." Rihanna muttered as she looked at Max with a pleading face while sweat dripped down her forehead.
Max frowned, he didn't know what was this girl's problem. He had never started anything to stop. Still, seeing that she was behaving slightly better than the girl behind, he slightly eased his strength on her. But the moment he did, a figure rushed from behind with her sword piercing towards Max's back.
Max looked at Rihanna and give her a meaningful smile which seem to saying 'I don't want to kill her, she wants to die' and then shrugged. And then he moved as the he deflected the lance and send Rihanna flying with a kick and used the recoil from it to position himself toward Synthia.
"Stop!" Argus screamed but there was no way he was reaching their on time. Ragnar on the other hand had been hit pretty hard by Max and still was nowhere near getting up much less reaching and stopping them. Only Bell seemed to react at that moment, but he seemed to be conflicted whether to go all out or not. In the end, the hesitation made it too late for him to react on time.
Max's hand moved and a killing intent cold enough to freeze people in ice spread across the hall. It had been a while since he really wanted to kill someone like this.
This girl really had been asking for him. Despite him wanting to show some mercy, she really had gone ahead with it times and times again. He didn't give any sh*t whether she had a reason for this or not, if you want to kill someone then you better be prepared for the same fate.
It was called an equivalent exchange.
Synthia who was moving towards Max instantly froze when she felt that murderous glare which seemed tp be hell bent on killing her no matter what.
'I am going to die..' The realization struck her but she didn't seem to regret her actions and only glanced at Rihanna once. She had done what she wanted to. This was more than enough. At least she could be free this way.
As Max's blade was about to slice her head off, a pressure came down rolling on him and his hands stopped. There was no refusing it. It was a weird feeling which seemed to even suppress his spirit energy. But it was clearly due to his lack of ability and not due to his energy being weaker in any case.
"I think it's enough. You gave these people a listen that they really needed.." A voice entered Max's ears and he instantly realized it was the Old Progenitor of the Storm House.
"Tsk…I am not a babysitter." Max was annoyed. But in the end, it wasn't out of his expectation. He knew that killing her here would be a bad idea for what was about to come ahead. He definitely wouldn't be recognized by the people as their leader and would instead turn them hostile towards him.

So, he reluctantly withdrew his murderous gaze. The moment he did that, Synthia felt her legs go limp and she fell down at Max's feet. Her entire body had been drenched in sweat. But she still continued to glare at Max.
This really ticked him off and a vein popped up on his face. This girl had to be best at pissing people off. There had to be a limit at how much annoying one could be.
"I don't need trash on my team," Max mutter as he grabbed her by the back of her dress and directly threw her out of the hall in front of dumbfounded gazes of people before going ahead to take his place on the stage.
"Crash!"
Someone seemed to have crashed somewhere but Max had no eyes for such a person and instead continued to look at the people below.
"I am an insignificant person who probably can't compare to the talented youth of the Ancient Families. But I am still willing to be sincere in my endeavors. Still, if someone feels that the Lords of the Ancient Families were a fool to elect me as a Commander, then you can please leave. I won't stop you at all," Max said with a smile as he crossed his legs and sat with there comfortably while overlooking the crowd.
People's faces twitched after hearing that but here was nothing one can do after hearing him. They really didn't know whether Max was being shameless or smart. He clearly gave them no option to leave and then dared to shamelessly asked them to leave while being well aware of the situation.
Now if someone left than wouldn't it be admitting that the Lord of the Ancient Families were foolish. He might be daring enough to call them foolish but believe me these people weren't.
This was still fine to the older people but the younger ones who had been standing at the back really had their faces scrunched up in an unnatural manner. This guy had really slapped them hard. First with his actions and now with his words.
Bro! You don't say stuff like that after beating the sh*t out of people whom you just admitted to be superior than you!
People really wanted to curse this sarcastic jerk.
This person was strong no doubt but his tongue was even more vicious.
It was better to not make an enemy like him if you didn't have tolerance towards trash talking. These people had no idea that Max didn't even came close to Lear who had years of experience under his belt in the art of trash talking. If that guy was here, these people would have puked out blood in anger.
Argus shook his head with a smile before dusting his clothes off and jumping back on the stage and taking his seat.
"You really had me worried there," He said with a sigh.
"It's not my fault. What do you expect me to do when a person is trying to kill me?" Max asked helplessly.
"True, I didn't expect her to go crazy like this." Argus said with a frown. He had talked with Synthia last night telling her that he would talk with Max and handle the situation. She had nothing to worry about.
Only god knew what had happened in the short moment of a single morning that he didn't see her.
She really shouldn't have reacted this violently.
