Day 156,
School again today. The start of another day of mundane routine that I go back and forth between internally bemoaning and being comforted by. Although I guess with reading and dealing with children it’s never all that mundane or predictable, despite how little I write of the tiny day-to-day incidental moments with them. Just mundane and routine in comparison to other elements of this place.
I asked Cass about never mentioning having friends her own age. Not quite so directly or bluntly of course. More by way of making a comment as the students were heading out for the day that they tended to leave in groups and pairs and following up with asking about her own time as a student. She remarked that she never really noticed the leaving in groups thing before seemingly catching on to where I was going with this and getting uncharacteristically defensive and dodgy about the topic.
I took the hint, apologized saying I didn’t mean anything by it, and let the matter drop.
Back to reading records instead of people for a time it seems.
