Kaizu appeared in front of Asuka. He swiftly conjured a sword and slashed her horizontally across the stomach. The wound wasn't too deep, but there was some blood.

He felt energy fading away once he'd done that. Asuka fell unconscious onto the floor. His last target was the boy. But instead, the boy vanished with no trace.

"Hey, Asuka! Hey!" he shouted. "Dammit."

Kaizu felt a new presence appear behind him. He turned around quickly.

"Don't worry. I'm not a foe," said the guy.

He walked toward them. He dropped his guard but stayed wary.

"Your friend must've been under a curse which made her hostile," he said.

"A curse?"

Kaizu didn't know they were a real thing.

"Once, you slashed her the curse's energy fled," he explained.

"Wait, what's your name?"

"Hmm. You can just call me Ezra."

Hyuri's POV

[12:45 PM, Courtyard]

It was the afternoon. The sun was blazing along with some clouds scattered among the blue sky. Another one of my old friends had arrived today. Her name was Krystal Scarlet. But after some thought. I told my old friend group about the past month.

"Is this true, Hyuri," Akari asked me.

I simply nodded, "Everything I said is true."

"But why is it happening here? Isn't this just a school?" Krystal asked.

I shrugged. I also wondered why it happened. Or why the school hasn't said anything about these incidents. Are they avoiding it on purpose? No one knew, well to my knowledge.

"Fine. If this school won't look into why it's happening. We will!" Satori said while he stood up.

"Sounds inspirational," a voice from behind me said.

I turned around to see Kaizu himself.

"Thank you."

Kaizu had found one of the missing students earlier today. He had some help.

"You all must be Hyuri's friends. I'm Kaizu Kirigashi. I guess you can call me his protector," he chuckled.

My friends introduced themselves and they shook hands.

"Hyuri, I have to talk to you," Kaizu told him.

"Okay, about what?" He asked.

"Just come with me."

We walked a few feet away so no one can hear.

"So, do you know anyone named Ezra?"

"Ezra?"

I was confused. I hadn't known anyone named Ezra.

"Why do you ask?"

"Because he says he knows you."

I thought about the name a few more times. Ezra, Ezra. The more I thought, the more I wanted to know.

"Guess I'll talk to him then," I said out loud. "Tell my friends I'll be back soon."

With that, I set off to find Ezra. Leaving Kaizu to send my farewells to my friends.

I was inside the lobby of Zone A's main building. I looked and asked around for someone named "Ezra". No one knew anyone named that in the lobby. I was questioning if Kaizu's words were creditable.

"Are you Hyuri Katsuyo?" a guy asked me.

"Yeah, have you seen anyone named Ezra around?"

The guy gave a smile and then said, "Yep, that's me."

I didn't have to search any longer. He was right in front of me. We both walked out of the lobby and to the food court.

There, we sat at a random table. I didn't hesitate to ask my first question.

"Why did you want to speak with me?"

I was hoping he would give me an actual reason. He stayed silent for a few seconds.

Then he said, " I'm here to protect you."

I didn't know what to say. But I didn't have to say much.

"I know about Fafnir's awakening. But, that won't be enough since you don't know how to utilize him correctly."

What exactly is he? And why has he shown up after Fafnir's awakening?

"How do you know me?" I asked.

"I've been protecting your bloodline since the beginning. I should know a thing or two. I may know more about you than you."

Ezra, a guy I just met today has been protecting my bloodline? At least, I know he isn't a normal person.

"Are you... a divine being?" I asked.

"You know what that is. I'm impressed. I am a special type of divine being, ya know. I am a Protector. Under the Heavenly Orders, I am required to protect you."

Heavenly Orders? I had no idea what he was talking about. This new information floated around my mind. What had it meant?!

"You seem confused. So I'll explain briefly. The Heavenly Orders are rules or commands that Divine beings have to follow."

All this was new to me. This guy is supposed to protect me?

"I also have a theory of why all this stuff is happening."

"Go on."

"Not here. Too many people around."

We were by the waterfall. I wanted him to try and help me understand this whole situation.

"This school must be corrupted by something. I've had my eye on it for years," Ezra told me. "It's been like this for about 40 years, but obviously no one said anything.

"What?! Why not?" I exclaimed.

Ezra hesitated, "They were bribed. Money is powerful. The higher-ups know that. Enough money will shut someone up for good."

"But what about Drew's death?! A school would-"

"They obviously have orders from someone or something above them," he cut me off.

I couldn't believe it. This school was crazy. Then, why does everyone like going here?

"Until we know who's commanding them. We have to keep wary."

I nodded. I always knew this had an uncanny feel to it.

"We'll find out more about this tonight. So meet up with me behind the dorm building, got it?"

"Right. We'll end this school's corruption. Once and for all!"
