Kaizu's Chapter [Begin]

April 24th, 2000 [4:10 AM, Track]

I wandered about the track, swinging my sword aimlessly. Hyuri was still asleep in the Medical Bay.

A few days ago, Kazama and I found Hyuri and another guy named Ezra in the school's basement. Ezra awakened just yesterday, but Hyuri still has yet to wake up.

Why were they in the basement? And why were they asleep?

"Master Kaizu!" My Sacred Guardian, Khaos, shouted in my mind.

"What is it, Khaos?" I asked.

"I feel a powerful presence nearby! Stay alert," he warned me.

I looked around the area. I didn't see anyone or anything. I gripped the hilt of my sword hard. Suddenly, I heard something flying through the air toward me.

Clang!

I deflected the object away from me. Where did it come from?

"So, you must be Kaizu Kirigashi?" A male's voice said, coming from the darkness around me.

I didn't recognize the voice. I walked back. I had to be wary and stay on guard.

"Who's there?!" I shouted at the darkness.

This damn school has been getting stranger by the day. I kept searching for the source of the voice, my head turning in every direction.

Step! Step! Step!

Footsteps began getting nearer. I held my sword, ready for combat. I didn't know where he was. But I knew he was near.

"My name is Gabriel. Do you happen to know Drew Casey?"

This guy knew Drew? How? I doubt he was a student. He nearly sounded twenty.

"I just want to announce. I was the cause of his death!"

This guy killed him? How? When? I gritted my teeth. He could be killing others. Not to mention be behind the missing students. He was dangerous.

"Armament Enhancement: Wind Blade!" I yelled.

I felt his presence now. I followed it. My blade began to burn white. It lit up a small area around me. This guy had to be taken down—

"Groaaahhh!!"

I jumped and swung down with all my might. As my blade slammed into a barrier, the impact ran up my arms, but that didn't matter.

"You won't take me down, Kaizu."

"Think so? Now, Khaos! Spatial Disruption!!"

I felt my body become light as I teleported behind Gabriel. I swung my sword and managed to land a hit. Suddenly, I felt weightless. My feet weren't on the ground. Was I floating?

"Look, I don't wanna kill you right now. So if you could move, that'd be great!" He yelled, slamming me to the ground.

"Kahh!!"

My back was hurting. I couldn't even sit up. I reached for my sword, which was near me—

Stomp!

"Gahh!!"

He stomped on my arm. It hurt worse than my back. It almost felt like my arm had almost got torn in half.

"Goodbye, Kaizu Kirigashi!" He said before vanishing.

I crawled toward my sword. What the hell was going on? There's more to this school than just being an Academy. No one was talking about how there was a student who looked like a young adult. Nor about Drew's death.

No one monitors the halls. Fights always break out. There was a whole damn underground system. What were they hiding? And why?

"This... damn school," I cursed under my breath.

April 24th, 2000 [Noon, Medical Bay]

I sat by Hyuri's bed. The room was silent except for the beeping from one of the monitors. He had been asleep for four days straight. I wondered when he would awaken. Suddenly, the door to the room opened. A guy with a familiar face walked in. Ezra.

"Coincidence seeing you here, Kaizu," Ezra told me.

"You've come to check on Hyuri again?" I asked.

He nodded and sat on a chair to his left. He cleared his throat and then spoke, "I have to speak to you about."

I sat up straight. Was it about Gabriel, who I had met hours prior? Or was it about something else?

"So I'm assuming you opened his seal?"

"I did. A while back. Is there a problem?" I asked him.

It was about Hyuri's Sacred Guardian. I linked his soul and mind to the Sacred Garden, which caused him to awaken that power.

"Too much power could lead to something dangerous. You do know that, right?"

I nodded my head, "Yes." He was right. Hyuri is a part of the infamous Katsuyo Clan. Once a powerful clan that helped guard Kanari and the Kanarian Islands. They were wanted because of their eyes and unique Aura.

"You're saying that because of his background on being a Katsuyo," I spoke. "You aren't wrong, though. He could become a threat with his power plus Fafnir."

Hyuri would need to be watched over. If he went berzerk, it could be very dangerous, especially for him.

"Ezra, I also have one more thing to ask."

"Hm?"

"Do you know a guy named Gabriel?"

His face became worried. So he did know him.

"Gabriel. He was an Angel that used to reside in heaven. Until he sought the Devil for power. He claims himself as 'The Archangel.'"

What was he doing around this place? I turned my head toward the boy that lay unconscious. Was he after Hyuri? I stared at the white tiles of the room's floor.

"If worst comes to worst, Kaizu. I'll protect you and Hyuri. Along with the Academy," he said, assumingly trying to make me not overthink about it.

I stood up from my chair, glanced at the monitor displaying his heart rate then walked to the door.

"Kaizu."

I stopped, signaling for him to continue.

"Stay alert. At all times."

I nodded and then left the room.

April 25th, 2000 [5:00 PM, Courtyard]

I stood in the open courtyard—wind blowing against my back. My hair flew along with the wind. I stared at the lowering sun. The sky was a light orange-ish color.

Hyuri was still asleep in the Medical Bay. The nurse said he might wake up later today. I just stood in the courtyard, killing time.

"You seem more depressed than usual," a female voice said behind me.

"Aren't you supposed to be talking with Kazama, Valerie?"

She stood next to me and stared at the sky. Valerie Rodriguez was my girlfriend. We began dating just a few days ago. She helped Kazama and Hyuri defeat Drew.

"Kazama and I already finished talking. You jealous?"

My face got a bit hot.

"W-what?! Me jealous?! No way!" I stammered.

I heard her laugh as she embraced me. That meeting with Gabriel fluttered my mind.

"Hey, love birds!" I heard Ezra call out.

We turned around. Ezra walked toward us. He turned more serious.

"You both might wanna see this," he said, his voice bold and severe.
