My birth left me in an uncomfortable state, after all I’m now stuck in a useless body, unable to move, and only able to watch things occur.

As such, I wasn’t able to convey the feeling I truly felt as I watched the scene in front of me unfold.

After the reunion of my mother and father they had a heart to heart where they reaffirmed their love, finally kissing over me which made my father's blue buttons attached to his shirt pinch into my forehead.

As my body began to cry reflexively a couple of unfamiliar people burst into the room, appearing to possibly be the family on one side of my familial tree.

Behind them were doctors who were obviously agitated at the fact that the whole circus went rushing to the room as they heard their new family member’s cry.

From what I could distinguish from the physical characteristics of the family, it appeared as though they were from the maternal side of my family tree.

In total I counted one grandmother, four aunts, three uncles, and four cousins whose ages varied between what appeared to vary between the ages of 3-7.

I was able to determine they were from my mother’s side as roughly a third of the aunts and uncles shared the vibrant, auburn hair my mother had. I felt like it was a truly beautiful shade, kind of like the scene of something coming to an end… like the orange leaves falling from a tree.

As I continued to take note I saw a relieved expression begin to spread across a multitude of the individuals’ faces. After seeing the relief I wondered what would have caused such a panic in the first place, it couldn’t have been just the fact that I had cried.

Tears began to flow from my grandmother’s face as her smile grew. She quickly ushered the little cousins along with an unhappy uncle who appeared to have been designated as the babysitter.

“It’s great to see the little one is alright, I heard that the umbilical cord had wrapped around his neck and that he was in a bad condition.”

Her voice sounded similar to my mother’s except for a slight hoarseness thanks to her age as well as her crying.

“The doctor’s called it a miracle, his heart had stopped beating for nearly twenty seconds, luckily his heart started beating again after being shocked.”

My mother’s face contained a sad smile, as if reliving the moments of terror she felt as what was to be her child had died. Of course, in my perspective, it seemed as though the child actually had died, otherwise how would I be here?

A could feel a sense of guilt filling me as I realized I might have just unwillingly killed a mere infant in this way of being reborn.

The body I had no control over had finally stopped crying. As I tried to move the body I found that I could slightly move my head as it turned out the rest of my body had already been swaddled, meaning I could no longer move in any way, shape, or form.

My mother had given me to my father and he was already trying to play with me flashing what I would call, “Goo-Goo Faces,” essentially he was already trying to get me to laugh, possibly just a few hours from my birth.

This family truly did seem quite eccentric.

Time seemed to fly by while being stuck in an infant’s body. Soon by me playing with my parents and developing my muscles I was able to start crawling at a mere five and a half months. I was quite proud of myself for being able to do this as it meant I might be able to start learning about the new world I was in.

After all, isn’t the most classic trope one finds themselves in after being reincarnated is the discovery of magic, right?

As I crawled around the obviously giant house I was able to tell that the family I now had was quite well off considering the artwork decorating the interior of the house. Unfortunately, with my mother following me everywhere I go I was unable to try and learn more about the world I was in.

After exploring I was able to find the bathroom, where I then proceeded to get changed in.

It was fucking embarassing.

One benefit of me getting changed in there though, was the fact there was a mirror in there and I would be able to take in my new features. After all, after five and a half months my hair color should have settled into its true color by now.

As I studied my appearance in the mirror I could hear my mother giggling about how cute I was, and how I was reacting to a mirror for the first time.

I found that I had in fact taken my mother’s hair as well as my father’s eyes. This gave me an innocent look when combined with my age.

My eyes, which were golden-brown, had strikes of gold going through them, like lightning striking down.

It was then that I knew that I would need to find out more about this world.

—--

I was irritated. I wasn't able to find out if I was in one of those super advanced world’s, or a world like “Defending from the Darkest Night,” actually… yeah, no, I wouldn’t want to be there, there’s monsters around every corner, it’s like a death sentence.

Maybe I have a system? ‘Status’

As I waited and seconds went by I found myself embarrassed,

‘Shit of course I can’t use a system, this isn’t a fucking game!’

I could feel my pudgy cheeks blush with my embarrassment leading to my mother who was watching me squeal from my apparent “cuteness.”

I absolutely hated being a child again.
