Chapter 1: Prologue

He was reading on his phone in class again. This was normal for him. What else was he to do? The classes were boring and the stories he read were interesting.

Too interesting. 

So, interesting that he was addicted to them.

He watched in his peripheral vision as the teacher walked out of the classroom.

Most of the teachers allowed him to read in class due to his exceptional academic performance. All except for one particular teacher. Due to this, he was keeping an eye out for the previously mentioned teacher. 

Suddenly, his surroundings changed. The boy found himself naked and deprived of his phone. Deprived of the story that he was reading.

Looking around, he found himself and his naked classmates in a white room or hall that was completely devoid of anything physical. Other than his fellow students, there were no other physical objects in the hall. Even the floor was not a... floor? Due to the sudden change in scenery and their nudity, most of the 30 girls were screaming. Hell, most of the 21 other boys were screaming as well.

" Welcome to the waiting room."

The boy turned to the voice, it seemed that the perpetrator had revealed himself.

An angel-like man with white wings on his back announced to the 52 confused high school students. The boy felt his cheeks heat up as he stared at the nude angel. He did not exactly know why but he assumed that it was either from anger that his reading time had been taken away or embarrassment from being nude.

" You are all dead. It is time for your next life."

The floating man snapped his fingers. Screens popped up in front of the teenagers.

" Choose wisely."

Then, he disappeared leaving the group to themselves.

I looked at the screen before me and tried to tune out the screaming and shouting in the background.

Seeing this, I immediately understood what I was supposed to do. It was obviously a form of sorts. Fill this in and I would be able to get back to reading.

I pressed on ???????????????????????? for name, gender, and race. Then, I looked at the skill section and pressed type.

" Yo! Guys! Immortality is only 50 points!"

" What! Damn, that is sick! What about invulnerability? Shit! Telekinesis is only 2 points."

" Hey, anybody choose MCU as the universe?!"

" Wow, perfect body is only 1 point!"

Once again, I tried to tune out the noise and focused on typing.

Satisfied, I pressed the ???? button and moved on. I once again looked at the 'Race' section. This time I pressed ???????????????????????? and looked over a selection of races. In the end, I picked Human. As a human, I would be able to read books quietly.

Next, I pressed random for the universe. Seeing that I still had 13 points, I decided to add more skills. I pressed on ???????????????? once again and typed 'eidetic memory'. I had to remember the books I read after all.

I needed to be in perfect health to enjoy reading, after all. Looking at the remaining 1 point. I wondered how I could spend it. Then, I looked at the Curses row. My finger touched the type button and before I knew it, I had a few curses.

My eye twitched at this but I endured. I was used to being called short after all. There is no use for height when reading.

Minor curses that cannot backfire. That was my criteria. Especially since these curses were basically conditions that I already had to live with.  Finally, I pressed the ???? to get my personal portable library.

As I want to start reading the moment I enter the world, I clicked ???? on the transmigration option and a new button popped up.

Upon, pressing the button, my vision began to fade. Just as it was about to fade completely, I saw Joshua, a classmate of mine running toward me. 

" David! You alright?!"

Narrowing my eyes at Joshua, I mumbled under my breath as I exited the scene.

" Why... is your thing so long?"

The scene of my naked yet excited classmates yelling at each other blurred and faded to black.

An eleven-year-old girl woke up in a library. She had apparently rested her head on an empty table and had fallen asleep. She looked around in confusion only to see all the books around her. She smiled in delight and tried to get up, only for a semi-transparent screen to pop up in front of her. This scared her and caused her to fall on her butt again. 

" Ouch..." She whispered as she rubbed her sore ass.

Her facial expression did not change throughout this ordeal, completely stuck in a deadpan expression. Looking at the screen, she focused on it and read it.

Amber quickly pressed the blinking ???????????????? button. Carefully, she got up and picked out one of the books from a shelf. 

" 'The Elf and the Girl'... What a generic title."

She then sat down on the floor and started reading it. Just as she started reading, she clenched her thighs together and looked down at them. Though she was confused, her face showed no reaction. Seeing nothing wrong, she continued reading.
