Chapter 19: Chapter 19. I smell a Rat

Cassie Was… well. I had seen little people many times in my life, not just in Hollywood, and a drinking buddy on my ship, Mike, was married to a girl with Turner syndrome.

This was not that. She looked completely proportionate, but… compact, and broad. Her head was the normal size, but she had quite the musculature, concealed by a bronze breastplate and Roman-style bronze helmet without the crest, I think it was called a spangenhelm because it was bowl-shaped, made of several riveted pieces, with flexible cheek pieces but without a nose guard.

She was cute, fully adult, but with sort of a childlike appearance because of her breadth. Weirdly, though she was broad, she didn’t look fat, with heavy red freckles over her nose, and long, red braids coming out from under her helmet and curled into two coils on either side of the back of her neck.
