The Correct Way Of Feeding The Sick And Delicate Villain Chapter 43

What Is It That You Really Want? (1)

The person standing in front of the doorway was a smiling, plump Mrs. Wang. She familiarly held Ding Yi’s hand while speaking to her.

“Lass, it’s not that Auntie’s trying to say something about you or anything, but as a single young lady you’re living pretty roughly. You’ve got a nice face, but I don’t see you dressing yourself up. It’s such a waste,” bemoaned Mrs. Wang.

Ding Yi realized something was wrong when she heard those words and was instantly alert.

As she had expected, Mrs. Wang’s words suddenly took a turn: “If you asked Auntie, I would say that girls need a family. You’re just too independent. It’s not enough to be able to make money. If you don’t hurry up and find someone, it’ll be too late, and before you know it…”

“Wait! Hold up! Uh, about that Auntie Wang, you really don’t need to worry about me. I feel like life is fine with just Yueshi and me, I don’t need anything else…” Ding Yi awkwardly explained. This wasn’t the first time this had happened. The matchmaking aunties were all so zealous, so much so that they seemed to care even more than Ding Yi’s own mother would.

But contrary to Ding Yi’s wishes, Mrs. Wang was even more enthusiastic after hearing her words, “Ah! Lass, you need to worry about yourself more! You’ve already fulfilled your responsibility to your young brother by raising him to adulthood. What else do you need to worry about?”

“No, I…”

“… If you can’t rest your heart, you can invite your brother to go live with you. To be honest with you, Auntie’s got a really nice boy to introduce to you…”

Mu Yueshi silently pressed his back against the wall. The grilles of the window cast down a checkered shadow upon him, shading his expressionless, pale, handsome face. His eyes drooped softly, but his pupils were filled with an icy, dangerous gleam.

Annoying.

If only those people just all disappeared.

As he listened to the chattering beyond the doorway, he expressionlessly picked up the copied Yi Jing and ritual texts on the table and slowly fiddled with the neatly written pieces of paper. A black demonic aura leaked out from between his fingers, completely obliterating the thick stack of papers!

Though a long and exhausting process, Ding Yi was eventually able to shake off the bothersome Mrs. Wang. When she arrived back in the house, she found that Mu Yueshi had tidied the place up already. The chairs had been placed back where they were supposed to be, the floor had been swept, and even the tea had been carefully made and poured.

Ding Yi took a couple sips of tea and looked towards the half open window leading to the adjacent room. After finding a corner of Mu Yueshi’s white robes, she finally felt reassured.

When Mu Yueshi reached eight years old, he got his own room.

If she remembered correctly, it was soon after Mu Yueshi started attending school that he started acting awkward around her. And finally at dinner, he said that in school they were taught that women and men were supposed to keep a distance from one another.

Ding Yi was surprised that Mu Yueshi had taken to the mortal customs so well, but at the same time she was glad that her teachings had borne fruit.

So that night she sat down and talked about how children need to be optimistic and full of aspiration while also attempting to indoctrinate the little demon with proper morals.

Ding Yi wanted to nip any signs of madness in the bud, and so she became a herald of love, giving the boss an all-round brainwashing!

The first step was to establish the little demon’s sense of trust and security with the outside world and to change his clingy habits…

But unexpectedly before she was even able to say anything, Mu Yueshi fell silent for a bit.

“I understand,” he said somberly.

???

Ding Yi felt question marks pop up all over her head. I haven’t said anything. What exactly do you understand?

Before she could ask, however, the dejected Mu Yuehi rushed to the bedside and grabbed his pillow.

Ding Yi was slightly slow on the uptake, and in her moment of inattention, Mu Yueshi had already come back, carrying a pillow almost as tall as he was.

He hesitantly approached Ding Yi as if he was coming to negotiate.

“But you need to promise me you won’t leave.” He said, his voice sounding like someone who had been wronged.

Ding Yi felt her heart melt at the cuteness and nodded: “Yes, of course, I promise!”

You’re the boss, so it’s whatever you say!

The little demon, who was originally downcast, showed a smile that was like a ray of sunshine peeking through the clouds.

Originally Ding Yi would worry and stick her ear to the wall to catch any sounds coming from next door, but to her surprise the kid was even more mature than her and did not show any signs of dissatisfaction.

It was as if Mu Yueshi had suddenly grown up. Before he had been someone who would cry as soon as he couldn’t see Ding Yi, but now he was someone who did not shed even a single tear during thunderstorms.

Ding Yi breathed a sigh of relief but felt a slight sense of loss.

And just like that, several years passed in the blink of an eye.

Ding Yi to this day still had the habit of looking into the neighboring room; whenever she left to do anything, she would check to make sure Mu Yueshi was doing alright.

She couldn’t help that she had the heart of a fretful mother in her grizzled body.
