Well, that was a relatively short volume but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.
It was quite fun writing the beach scene. I enjoy soccer quite a bit myself so I've been wanting to include it somewhere. Aside from that, I've managed to clean up Kanako-san's arc and wrap it up in preparation for the next volume. I hope you're excited to see the students once they all meet up again at National High School.
In the beach chapters, I've chucked in some cameos of characters that will be much more important once we head into volume 2. Also, Fujiharu-san will be back and she will continue to be the main heroine.
I'll write an interlude to drop some final exposition before we dive face-first into Volume 2 and the Tachibana System.
Now, I want to take this time to address the story as a whole and especially the contents of Volume 2.
Lots of people have been saying that this story is quite similar to Classroom of the Elite, and I agree with that to some extent. Obviously, Mizuhara-kun's personality is quite similar to Ayanokoji's (I won't even try to hide that). However, I don't agree that this is a copy of Classroom of the Elite as a whole—granted I'm sure most of you don't think that it is either but there are a few people who see the similarities as too blatant.
First of all, this is a romance novel. I will definitely include the psychological thriller aspects of Classroom of the Elite into it but 50% of this novel is still romance.
Secondly, all of the characters, especially the girls (whilst somewhat inspired by other anime) are not at all related to any particular girls from COTE. All the characters are completely original with hardly any correlation to characters from COTE.
Thirdly, this novel does and will not share any of the plot beats of COTE. As someone who does enjoy COTE, I have lots of peeves in terms of its content and design, especially with the school itself. To be completely honest, I don't like any of the special exams that involved going to an island or some other isolated place.
I won't be having any 'uninhabited island exams' or anything that involves leaving the school. Those exams feel cheap to me as a way to allow Ayanokoji to go all out without consequences. National High School will be a lot more realistic, with only in-school exams and other things that I will explain soon.
I will also make class transfers much more common. In COTE it's basically impossible to get into another class with another cohort of students. However, at National High School, there is basically no cooperation among students within a class and classes change very often. Also, expulsions are a common occurrence.
If anything, I want to fix many of the issues with COTE. For example, I think the point system is done extremely poorly. For all intents and purposes, everyone might as well have infinite points since I've barely ever seen situations where someone is genuinely lacking points in a plot-relevant way aside from situations involving millions of points.
Also, ENHS (the school from COTE) is for the most part a utopia, it has everyone a student might want. It is for the most part quite unrealistic, as much as COTE tries to say otherwise, the school is basically a utopia with some special exams here and there. It's closer to a slice of life than it is to a thriller.
National High School will tackle this in a much more realistic way. No, the school won't suddenly be renovated with a massive mall in the middle. No, the school won't purchase a 10 million dollar yacht for students. No, each student won't be given $1000 of spending money each month. For the most part, National High School is a dystopia, it will be a commentary on the failures of such a system like the one if COTE.
In COTE, the school had been running for several years, likely with time to improve and fix issues with regard to the system. National High School and the Tachibana System will be implemented for the first time, thus, there will be lots of issues with the system.
The ranking system at National High School will also be a lot more prevalent and important. The Preseqta App will have accurate information on every student that it slowly reveals as time goes on.

There are also a lot more things that I won't discuss right now.
Classroom of the Elite lacks stakes.
National High School will be a thrilling ride from start to end.
Anyways, I don't want to reveal too much.

Also, volume 2 will be much longer and you won't have to hear so much rambling from me.
I've set up a Patreon fit with plenty of benefits from side stories to advanced chapters. The amount of time I spend on this novel is dependent on the amount of money I earn from it.

I've been chugging litres of coffee and staying up late so I can pump out a few more chapters before volume 2. Preferably, I'd like to have a few days where I can just purely plan out the aspects of the school. As a result, I've been stockpiling some chapters.
There will be some short stories and other content for the next day or two as I prepare for volume 2. They'll be a little shorter but I'd like to spend a decent amount of time planning volume 2.
Anyways, if you're enjoying the story, I hope to see you in volume 2.
It'll truly be a journey, from beginning to end.
