Chapter 6: Serious wound

Kai threw himself to the side when he fired the next sword on the same spot, but the bee still hit him in the arm… the sting made the wound burn, even though it just ripped apart a bit of the flesh. He wasn't fast enough to dodge the creature…

The monster turned around while flying in an arc and then attempted to impale him again. Still, Kai quickly got up and then fired another sword at the monster's head. The weapon landed on the same spot, and some blood gushed from the wound, but it was barely noticeable.

When the monster attacked, Kai smashed its head with his bat, making the beast slow down for a moment, but then the bat broke. Still, Kai didn't even blink at that. He just thrust the broken part with all the barbs on the wound of the beast.

"Zuuummmmmm! Zuuummmmmm!"

The monster made a weird noise of pain when some barb entered the wound. Kai took a few steps backward and made the monster grunt in pain even more when he fired the next swords. He had to stop when he felt an energy pole on his back. Still, he could use it.

The giant bee flew faster toward Kai, but then it hit the energy pole when he rolled to the side. When the creature turned around to attack him after recovering from the dizziness, Kai smashed the wound once again with a broken part of the bat.

Instead of moving away, Kai fired the swords at the wound of the beast and then attacked the head with the other parts of the bat. A lot of blood gushed out from the wound and covered his body, but he kept attacking with a smile on his face. Until he noticed that the monster began to tremble in a weird way… in the next moment, the beast suddenly fired its sting at Kai.

Kai threw himself to the side, but the sting still pierced his left forearm. The pain paralyzed him for a moment, but he quickly got up. Another sting was emerging from the hole that the sting left, but Kai didn't want to wait for it. Moreover, the beast couldn't move.

Kai smashed the bat with his remaining hand while ignoring the pain in his left arm. The red bee eventually fell to the ground… lifeless, with its face filled with the barbs of the broken bat while its blood was turning the street red.

Kai wanted to sigh in relief, but he couldn't since his left arm was throbbing. He didn't regret his choice since he got a lot of experience and recovered five runes, but he had to deal with the pain now… and with the risk of losing the ability to use that arm.

Still, perhaps not everything was lost. He got the Healer's rune. If he gave it to someone, he could make the person heal his arm as payment. That someone will have to heal him perhaps a lot to make the wound close completely, but it was worth the shot. Not to mention, there was something else…

On the side of the giant red bee's corpse, he found a red marble. It was barely bigger than his finger, but it seemed valuable. When Kai touched it, another system window popped up.

I wanted to heal my arm, but I didn't know how long it would take. I had to use a weapon with a single hand, and it couldn't be a difficult one, so I chose a knife. In the end, a silver knife that was almost the size of a short sword appeared on the ground.

While heading South, Kai looked for the buildings around, trying to find signs of people hiding. There should be a few somewhere, and there weren't that many corpses around yet.

When he reached the next crossroad, Kai stopped when he heard the sound of a car hitting something. A vehicle suddenly hit an energy pole, and then two red bees began to target the window to attack a woman, and she recovered her head without knowing what to do.

"Is the bees targeting her because she has a rune?" Kai asked. "I guess there is only one way to find out. It is time to act like a moron."
