It was quiet at the table. The old giant, Bort, Lala and Ghel were sitting at one and the other giants were at seperate ones around them. The giants didn't sit on chairs, they were on the floor. Else it would be too much of a hassle for them to bow down to eat.
The duo waited for Bort to speak but the only thing he did was sipping from a barrel from time to time. Only when Little 8 came with the food did he begin to talk.
"Eat to your hearts content. We have enough." Bort took a leg, probably from a beast, and began to chew on it.
Ghel hadn't to be told twice to eat and began to wolf down the food. Finally food with flavour again! He and Lala tried to recreat some spices in the forest but let alone Lala, even Ghel failed misserable.
Lala on the other hand quietly picked up some things, put it on her plate, and stared at it with a sigh. At least it was better than the food in the forest.
After several minutes did Ghel still not halt. One meat at a time, two vegetables at once.
Bort and some other giants were happy and astounded by seeing that. One of them couldn't help but say to a female giant beside him.
"Little 4, didn't you say your future partner needs to have a good apetite? How about him?" He and another giantess at the same table began to laugh.
Little 4 looked at Ghel for a second before to her two table partners.
"Big 7, Big 4. He is to small down there, I would rather have you." Her gaze wasn't on Big 7, the giant. It was on Big 4 the giantess.
Big 4 began to glare at Little 4 with hatred. She should have never told her that secret! All around the trio in the middle was a scene of easy going giants having fun.
After some more minutes did Ghel admit defeat at last. His senses craved for more but his body screamed stop. It was only then that he realized where he was. He made a round with his eyes at every table and couldn't help but to smile.
Wasn't this what he really wanted? To be somewhere where he could just enjoy the normal life? A fight went on in Ghels head but at the end this thought lost. He wasn't sure why but he had to fulfill his destiny.
"Finished young friend? I have to say, even some giants would find it hard to ear so much in comparison to their bodies." Bort was already finished long ago, the same with Lala. They bith tacticly agreed to not disturb Ghel. He seemed like a starved canine.
"Thanks for the meal and...not minding my attire." It were heartfelt words by him. Having a strong front didn't mean that one had a strong back.
Bort nodded, he took the cup of Ghel and tried to reach the one of Lala bit she waved her hand.
"Hmmm? Don't tell me you are too young to drink?" Lala blushed and shook her head. Ghel on the other hand was stupified. He never asked her.
"Lala, how old are you?" A glare came from her which made him freeze to his core.
A small bang before him made him come back and there was a cup filled with some red liquid in it before him.
"Pahahaha young friend, never ask a woman her age!" Every giantess in the room who heard that loud outburst from Grandpa Bort nodded in their mind.
Ghel shuddered, say that sooner wise old man! He took the cup and raised it without thinking.
"I will remember that, thanks and cheers!" Gulp and the liquid was gone. The eyes of Lala were wide open. He didn't just? Right?! Bort on the other hand nodded to himself.
Ghel put down the cup and his stomach felt reliefed making him burp once. When the burp left his mouth did he understood what he just did. How? There was only one reason if the world begins to spin around you.
"Hiccup...whayou eit thies, hiccup, wei fweeel, hiccup, schtreing..." A thud later was the head of Ghel not so softly planted on his plate. At least it was licked clean by him.
Lala chuckled and shacked her head. "I believe he is the only one stupid enough to drink alcohol which giants make lilke this." She gently took his head up and placed him in a more humane and comfortable position.
Bort looked at her in wonder. "One could think that you are his mother. As you are a Cailleach, I doubt it though. He is a human."
Lala turned her head to Bort and couldn't help but to wrily smile. "We both saved the other. Think of it like this. Also, if it wasn't for him..I wouldn't be this. Can we talk now? You didn't make him faint for no reason, right? Some coldness began to spread but let alone Bort, even the other giants didn't care.
"Don't misunderstand. What we have to talk about can't be heard by him..at least not yet."
"Begin then."
-----------
"Urgh my head." Ghel held his hand and rubbed his tempels.
"Wait a minute, where is the mask?" He felt his face up and down but didn't feel it!
"Hahahah I have f-fuck, where am I?!" Pure white space was all he saw, it was only then that he also realized that he was floating. He ran, swam and crawled like crazy. Nothing happend and he felt nothing except from himself here.
Some minutes passed and he calmed down a bit. He thought about what happend last.
...
...
"Is this what really drunk passed out people see?" No that couldn't be it. There would have been someone who said that. How many people get drunk silly everyday?
"You are funny." A voice echoed everywhere in the space, makimg Ghel jump. At least the motion of it.
"Hello? I could use some help here?" At least he was not alone...alone. he hated it. Despised it.
"Every sapient being needs help at least one time in their life. Why do you always want help? Help from your 'skill', help from that Lala. You even needed help to find an Inn to stay."
Ghel was thunderstruck. " You who are you! Show yourself!"
"Needs help everytime, demands things outside of his little reach. What comes next? Are you goinG to be really angry?"
Ghel didn't respond. He couldn't. It was truly his next action to be angry and threaten the voice.
"See, much better. You were given such a good head but all you think about are stones in your way instead what is riggt in your face. You were given such a gift but you can't use it properly, at least yet."
Ghel touched his face and suddenly had a feeling.
"You..are the Heaven Sealing Mask, right?" It was a feeling which came from deep down himself.
The voice didn't answer. Several minutes passed until it returned. This time not from every corner of this place but right behind him.
"Well, I give you a pass. Now comes the next question. What do I want from you?"

Ghel turned around reflexively and was spooked. It was the mask yes, the mask was attached to a gumanoid body though. His mouth gaped open several time before he could talk again.
"What you want from me? How should I know that." He may have a good head but give some hints maybe.
The mask body raised a hand. "Watch and understand. Learn from it. If you understand it truly you will have the right to take me off."
Ghel began to spin. No the space around him did. The next scene he saw was a beautiful landscape, a true paradise.
Flying islands, phoenixes and dragons flying around them. Mountains which moved, no they were gigantic turtles. He felt like he was transported into a primordial world, where legends and myths were all real.
A loud bang was suddenly heard and a rift was torn ooen in the sky. From within fell a giant humanoid being 12 arms and two legs. Its face had five eyes which were glaring at the sky in anger.
A shout came out of its mouth with words that Ghel didn't understand.
"Jaerlot Kuraotea Kaminarose Lowabata!!!!!"
From within the rift came a hand which stretched down. Trying to grab the gigantic thing.
A laughter began to echoe through the world and the gigantic being exploded. Its blood covered where ever the eye could see.
The hand which tried to grab the now gone being trembled before a scream could be heard from within.
"Kekotaaaaaaaaaaaaalll"
Vroom the world which Ghel saw vanished and he once again was before the masked body. Ghel was sweating buckets and breathing rapidly. He wanted to clean the sweat away on his face but when he saw his hand was he shocked.
His hand was red full of blood. When the blood dropped down from his hand did something happen again. A vortex which grew at a speed unimaginable sucked him in.
The last thing he saw was the masked body putting his hand on the mask before taking it of. He couldn't see the face clearly but he heard its last words.
"That is the reason why. Do not fret though, as only at the end you have to choose. Goodbye now, untainted mortal."
-----------
"So you want me to believe that all?" Lala had the urge to beat the giant before her. She had a weird feeling though, she wasn't sure if she could!
Bort smiled and wanted to drink some more but the barrel was empty.
"Little 8, be a dear and bring me another." He threw the empty barrel towards Little 8 and she caught it nochalantly while rolling her eyes.
Bort turned towards Lala after he threw it and said with ease.
"I don't have any merit from lying to you, right? Well, I also don't have any demerit pahahahaha."
"You wouldn't lie to someone who has ties to a God, right?" Lala tried to feel him. Where was this old beings limit.
A glint appeared in Bort's eyes. "Now now, threatening isn't a good idea. How about this. Go to the Tempel of Glacia and ask her yourself. If you don't believe me you should believe her, right?"
Lala was silent. A short version of what she was told was like this.
Long ago when the world was still untainted by the gods did a fight ensue in the realm were gods resided. One of them ripped the barrier apart and fell to the mortal world. Before anything could be done did this god an extreme taboo.
He slayed a god, himself. She wasn't told what god or maybe the old giant didn't knew too. Alas, with that deed done did the equilibrium of the world begin to change.
Before that did world go in a cycle which was always the same but now that a gear was missing did it slowly shift. Not in a good direction. Gods were beings which were born as one.
Now that a gear was missing did some beings from the mortal world see their chances to ascend to a higher realm.
Soon thereafter did war break out. Many races died in that bloody battle. One being has achieved it though, it broke through the wound in the barrier which was made by the fallen God and ascended.
This didn't hold long as, like said before, a mortal being shouldn't be a God. They also shouldn't intervene in mortal affairs. As their every move could change the cycle.
The other gods didn't want to hurt the world more, so they couldn't kill the new arrival. That was when the world itself gave the mortals a task.
Make the god descend with his form. Seal him in a continent. Since then began the beings get a blessing from the world. Something which would help the greater purpose.
After some millenials did they finaly succeded and could imprison his physical form in the mortal world. His soul on the other hand wasn't chainable. So did the existence of the Heaven Sealing Mask begin.
Bort told her that after that was his clan tasked with guarding this place. Since then they should await for the sign, an eight winged one. Who thought that the mask was stolen by someone and did now return on the head of a young man in company of the sign they should wait fof.
Lala still didn't know if she should believe his every word. She may be a little over a hundred years old but this was still young for beings like her.
"How did you know I used an illusion?" She had her own reason to ask that, depending on the answer she would decide.
Bort furrowed his brows and rummaged in his pocket before taking out something.
"You understand, right?"
"Yes....Look after him while I'm gone. He can be a handful but his heart is in the right place." Lala took the thing that Bort took out and stood up.
Bort gazed at her with a weird look.
"Why the hell should i look after him for an hour? Is he that much of an handful? It isn't like he would suddenly vanish from the spot, right?"
Lala was dumbfounded. "Isn't the Temple of Glacia somewhere in the south? I feel her calling for me."
Bort wanted to say something when he remember the crux.
"....I forget some small matters sometimes. We have a teleportation ring here. South,North,West,East. You name it and we have it?"
Lalas face became beet red from anger and another emotion. This old bastard! She can't undo her former thoughts!
