Chapter 2: Reincarnated

The largest hospital in B-city was build at the foot of a mountain , near the borders. Normal people may not know but , beside the two public blocks at the center , the hospital has a hidden facility build underground, for research and experiments . Financed by the government, human experiments take hold in the cold lab .

The patients were mostly convicts on death row and volunteers who yearned for money , then in minority, people who had been sold to the lab , like debtors and beggars .

On that night , the facility was deserted .

Papers , files and tools scattered on the floor . The corridors were so messy as if a violent storm passed by .

All doors were left opened , beside a few exceptions .

In Room 056, a patient was laying on the bed. The girl looked about seventeen or eighteen years old , she was sleeping motionlessly, her face deadly pale , even her breathing was weak . If not for the electrical device , that displayed her heart rhythm , one could easily mistake her for a corpse .

The drawn peaks on the screen got shorter and shorter until only a straight line was left ...

An urgent beeping sound echoed , as the device screen flicked red , informing that the patient heart had stopped beating .

Three seconds, five seconds,.. the flicking became constant , more urgent ..... then it stopped .

The beeping disappeared too , and the peaks reappeared on the screen , like if the earlier incident had never happened .

The motionless girl , frowned in discomfort. She slowly opened her eyes , and was greeted by a white ceiling .

Qin Ning, closed her eyes again and slowly went through the memories that flooded in her mind .

Qin Ning, the illigimate child of the Qin family . Her mother drugged the already married Qin Wencheng and was able to get a one night stand with him and that led to her pregnancy . Then she entered the Qin family after giving birth with the paternity test as an entry ticket  . Qin Wencheng ‘s father , the head of the family , halfheartedly accepted the shameless woman and bastard child , he gave them a separate house in the domain and allowance .

Qin Ning’s mother wasn’t satisfied , she pursued Qin Wensheng further and even used her daughter as a leverage, however , the man had never acknowledged the pair of mother and daughter , he ignored her and treated her like the dirtiest trash in the world , while constantly pampering his legal wife and four children .

Qin Ning was beating up and mistreated by her mother as a consequence,  each time her father scolded and yelled at her mother , Qin Ning was subject to her wrath turning her childhood into a living hell .

However , one day , her mother passed away in a traffic accident ,and the old butler brought her to the main house where her father lived , When Qin Ning thought that her sufferings had come to an end , reality stabbed her mercilessly in the heart .

Her stepmother hated her and treated her badly , her  three half-brothers avoided her like plague and never forget to scold or yell at her . Her father turned a blind eye to this , never giving her a single glance . Her delicate half- sister, Qin Meili  was the only one who treated her well and helped her .But in reality , this white lotus girl was using her as a scapegoat to gain others’ sympathy and rise in society . The foolish Qin Ning, worked tirelessly to gain wealth to give  to her sister , she deliberately lost  in contests to make her sister stood out , the small power she get , she would gift it to Qin Meili without hesitation , to the extent to willingly gave up on her fiance to her .

Qin Meili got everything , popularity ,wealth ,  awards, fiance, friends, ..

When Qin Ning help was no longer needed , Qin Meili had to get rid of her . She destroyed Qin Ning's reputation , turned the whole world against her, and even drugged her to sold her off to the lab as a guinea pig .

Since , then Qin Ning didn’t know that her beloved sister was behind her demise, she foolishly endured pain and the experiments setbacks , until falling in a deep coma .

Until the end , Qin Ning wished for her sister the best and hoped that one day she appears to save her .

What a story !

The memories , past events, feelings, everything flashed in her head , like a high definition movie . Qin Ning looked at it like a bystander , this is not her past, she didn’t feel anything beside contempt to the dumb original owner .

Letting others stomp on your happiness and mistreat you , what a joke , why suffer when she could easily get rid of those annoying people .

If the fate allows it, she would return the favor to the Qin family . Not because it the least she could do to thank the original owner for the body , not at all , just because she was thrilled to see Qin Meili's expression when her little world will crumble in front of her eyes and  she will lose everything she ever got . Qin Ning was shivering with excitement .

As for the original owner, she got what she deserves . She paid the price of her foolishness and had no right to ask other to seek revenge on her behalf .

Well , that's for the near future ,  now is time to leave the room !

Qin Ning’s body was rigid, she started by moving her fingers and toes , then slowly her limbs. Her body had been laying on bed for more than two months . It  aches everywhere, But this kind of pain was close to no existent for the current Qin Ning , she fervently moved her muscles , one after the other, eager to finally be able to leave the room and discover this brand new world .

Twenty minutes later, she managed to sit on the bad . One hour later, she get down from the bed and awkwardly stood up with the bed frame support .

Two hours later, she circled the room half leaned on  the walls , her steps were unsteady and slow at first but  they became more natural . The numbness in her body started fading out too .

Qin Ning performed some movement to stretch her body letting the blood circulate properly . She then straightened her back and gracefully walked to the door .

Room 056's door wasn’t locked, it was just closed.

It's not like a comatose patient would escape in the middle of the night , right ?

Qin Ning left her room and looked to the chaotic corridor , she leisurely walked around the lab , searching, picking up documents on the ground from time to time .

There were no life in the lab, the doctors and patients seems to have left in a hurry . They left behind the fruit of their works covering the cold floor .As for the patient, they must have escaped in the chaos, there were some blood stains on the walls and doors locks were smacked open .

It wasn’t a riot ,or else Qin Ning would have found corpses or more blood .

Her interest was immediately picked , what had possibly happened here ?

Qin Ning looked up at the camera at each corner of the corridor , a smile appeared on her face .

She would discovered it soon .

Qin Ning went to the surveillance room .

Thankfully, the computer wasn’t damaged and was still operating .

She opened the files saved on the disk drive , and launched the CCTV footage.

She sped  the lecture up until two weeks ago, on Monday, 5^th at 14:23.

The doctors clad in white coats were working on their researches in their labs and the patients were kept in their respective rooms , nothing seemed out of ordinary .

At 14:25 , The lab alarm blared through out the facility , the focused doctors were spooked by the sudden siren. With panicked faces they rammed through the drawers and documents and only picked up what needed . It was chaos , they run in the corridor in an unorderly manner, some even bumped into each other in the process.

The lab was shortly turned into his current chaotic state.

Qin Ning wondered about the reason the alarm resounded? An intruder, no the security guard were helping the doctors evacuate, A fire , nothing was shown on the footage , what is it ? it’s like the enemy army had appeared on their doorstep out of thin air .

At 14:36, a patient who was in the injection room woke up , and became berserk. He exited the room and grabbed an unlucky doctor, who was passing by . The security guard quickly came to rescue the researcher , and that led to a violent fight . The blood stains in the corridor turned out to be the patient’s blood who stood no chance against the guard's nightstick.

The patient fainted under the merciless hits . The doctors didn’t care the least about him and continued running across the lab , holding document and boxes of samples . Afterwards, the security guard led the researchers toward a long narrow corridor .

Unfortunately, their were no security cameras on that path , and the closest one only showed them entering the corridor.

Qin Ning knew there was probably another exit there .

However, she wasn’t in a rush to leave the lab . After watching the remaining footage , she didn’t learn much about the reason behind the researchers acts.

Everything seemed normal until that alarm .

Qin Ning went through the lab map and system .

The alarm could only be triggered in two locations , the surveillance room she was in and the director office .

There was a camera in the surveillance room, it showed clearly that, at that time ,the guards didn’t press the red button on the wall .

And thus , to find a clue on what really happened in the lab to cause such a chaos , Qin Ning immediately headed to the only other location, the director office.
