Givontair:
I really should have known that Amestavora won't be an easy stop. This is the third day, when I do operations for the sick. Because I don't want for the guards who helped the first day to become resistant to mana treatments, I had to call for volunteer nerve donors.
Not everyone wants to have a scalpel near their skin. Or, for the scalpel to be wielded by a dragon. Yet, the families of the sick hunters really pulled through. What worries me, is that there are no healers here. Just who am I supposed to task with the physical therapy?
It seems, that we will need to remain in here for quite some time. I pull off my gloves, when the clock chimes for eight p.m. There is no sense in me exhausting myself, just like during the first day.
As I walk towards the inn, people stop to clap me on the back, or just shake my hand. More than once, I have to remind myself, that elves might come off cold, before you have proven your worth to them.
When I make it to the inn, it is already dark outside. So, I should pull Norrix out. I do hope he doesn't do another bar crawl, and come back with someone, just like last time.
Not that I have anything against Elias. It is just that, the elf has been urging us to go and find Sorix. As things stand now, I don't believe we can defeat the Dread Lord. He doesn't seem like a novice. And I have no idea what sort of effect he'd have on Nathaniel.
Speaking of Nate, he is yet to give me the crystal. I will ask him again tonight. If he still continues to refuse me, then I will just wrestle the crystal from his clutches.
When I come to the room I share with Nate and Erik, I get Norrix out of his bottomless bag.
"Good evening, Giv," Norrix stretches his limbs, and then yawns. "Man, that was a nice nap."
"Good evening, Norrix. Now, do I need to tell you that bringing more people without asking is something you should avoid?" I ask the vampire. He chuckles.
"Did Eli really put his foot in his mouth the other day?" He asks, for the third time this week.
"Elias was perfectly calm and mannered," I answer. "But I can do without a man telling Erik he should make an army of plants, and go after a Dread Lord."
"I'll speak with him. Anyway, do we stay in here for tonight, or are we leaving?" Norrix sounds as if he wants to stay. I wonder just what does he do during the night.
"I think we will stay until I have taught someone how to supervise physical therapy, and I have healed all the sick. I have about fifty more elves left," Norrix whistles at that.
"You work fast, Giv," he says. I sigh.
"If I worked fast, then I'd be done by now. There are healers out there, who would have dealt with the paralysis long ago," I say. Norrix shakes his head.
"I very much doubt that there are healers with your mana levels out there. Anyway, I am going out. See you in the morning," with a wave, Norrix leaves the room.
I take a breath in, to steel myself. Now, I really need to speak with Nate. I find him in Elias's room, hunched over a map. Together with the elf.
"Nate, we need to talk," I tell him. Elias nods, and stands up to leave. As the elf passes by me, he claps me on the shoulder.

"Thanks for healing my brethren," he says, and I bite my lower lip. It is not everyday someone thanks me. These elves really see beyond my nature as a dragon.
"What do you want to talk about?" I can see the crystal hanging from a chain around Nate's neck. I don't like how close he keeps this thing.
"There is a temple of Harika in this town," I say. Nate's hands go to the crystal.
"I have been speaking with Elias. He says that this crystal will really give us an edge," Nathaniel pauses then, as his eyes travel to my lips. They are still not healed. I go to him, and sit next to him.
"Is the edge worth it, if it is a double one?" I ask my mate. He shakes his head.
"Then give me the crystal, and I will get it to the temple," I reach out. When he doesn't show any signs of resistance, I take the chain from around his neck. "You are doing the right thing."
"Am I? I feel like Sorix is leagues away from me, when it comes to raw power. How am I going to fight him, if I don't have an edge against him?" Nate's question makes me frown.
"Do you think you'd be fighting alone? That I won't be by your side?" I ask him.
"Your tail is wounded," he retorts. I sigh.
"That stops me from flying, not from breathing fire," I remind him. "My flames had the best effect, against Sorix."
"I don't want to hide behind you," Nate says. "I want to be the one who protects you!"
"You will protect me better, if you are safe and sound of mind," I counter him. His eyes are locked on the crystal.
"Can I come with you to the temple?" I wonder why he wishes to do that. For him, just being close to the building will be like being too close to a bonfire. At any rate, it won't be pleasant.
"If this is your wish," I pocket the crystal, and stand up. "Come on, we should still come back to our room, to tuck Erik in bed."
He has a fond smile on his lips, at the mention of Erik.
"It is almost like we are a family," he reaches out, and takes a hold of my hand. "Do you think that, after everything is said and done, we can buy a cottage somewhere, and we can just raise Erik? Together."
"It won't be easy to get rid of Sorix, or Ajax," he has an unreadable expression on his face then.
"You will help me with Ajax?" Nate asks, his voice barely above a whisper.
"He hurt you. You are my soulmate. I won't let something like that stand," I make my vow then, just as he takes my hand. I pull Nate up, and we both leave for the temple.
