Ethan considered himself a product of modern living, a bundle of apathy and overindulgence all neatly packaged by a doctor-prescribed opioid addiction. It wasn't a perfect life, but it was his.

Upon his death, he encountered nihility's sweet embrace. It was like a siren's song lulling him toward his end as it shaved away his memories, intent on returning all that he was to nothingness.

Yet, when he could no longer fight against it, he suddenly woke up. But instead of waking up inside the aching body he was familiar with, he found himself inhabiting the body of a newborn in a world filled with magic.

Despite being granted a second chance at life, Ethan—or Arthur as he was now called, still couldn't come to terms with what he had experienced. The thought of having his ego erased horrified him, and he refused to allow it to happen again in this life.

So starts Arthur's quest for absolute immortality.
