An average looking young man in his late teens scrolled through his phone's message feed, inwardly feeling like cursing his parents for giving birth to him as he despised life quite a bit.
He was abandoned shortly after birth, and grew up in foster care. As if that wasn't bad enough, he hated himself. Even looking in the mirror made him upset sometimes because he felt that what he saw wasn't him.
Sure, he wasn't ugly, but he really didn't want to be a guy. It wasn't that he liked guys, he still likes women, it was just that he felt he would like to live as a girl than a boy.
He never expressed his feelings because he didn't have a soul to tell. Knowing society, they'd probably call him a freak and avoid him if he did that, and despite not caring much about others thoughts, he didn't want to be an outcast.
"Whatever would I give to get hit by the legendary truck-kun and then transmigrate..." Daniel sighed and slipped his phone into his pocket.
"I wish I was a girl. I wouldn't even care if I was average looking at this point." Whispering as he looked up at the cloudy skies, he didn't see a shooting star so he directed his prayer to God instead.
He wasn't a religious person, but he did hope he could change his self. Most people said God designed people as they were supposed to be, but Daniel really wasn't content with his body.
Daniel looked at the crossing and checked both ways, sighing inwardly when he failed to spot a truck. He would have to endure his distaste for his body until he finally kicked the bucket.
"Do you want to have a chat?" A sweet voice sounded from behind him. The street was mostly empty, but it was brightly lit so he wasn't overly startled.
Turning, he locked eyes with a pair of sapphire blue eyes that sparkled with mischief. The girl's skin was pale, but framed by her dark brown hair, it looked quite beautiful.
Daniel blinked and resisted the urge to turn and look for who she was speaking to, and as if seeing his confusion, the girl laughed softly and pointed at Daniel.
"You seemed to be troubled, so I wanted to know if I could do anything to help you." Hearing the girl's words, Daniel smiled faintly and then sighed. Nothing on this planet could give him what he wanted so he just shook his head.
"Just some personal issues is all. Thanks for asking though." Daniel glanced at the girl and realized that she was really pretty, then a feeling of being outclassed surfaced before vanishing.
"Come on. Don't be shy~ Okay, how about this, I will tell you my wish, and then you can tell me one after!" The girl smiled, her perfect white teeth sparkling in the faint light.
"I want to make a friend that will be with me forever. That's my wish, now what about yours?" Hearing the girl, Daniel sighed and tried to think of something superficial, but then he shrugged and let out a sigh.
"Do you read webnovels or manga?" Hearing his question, the girl nodded cutely, her eyes wide with anticipation. Seeing her paying so much attention, Daniel decided to continue.
"Well, I'd like to go to a different world. This one is quite... well, let's just say I don't like it." Daniel expected the girl to laugh or something, but she remained silent as they drew closer to the grocery store.
It wasn't too far from his apartment, but he slowed his pace unconsciously to keep pace with the girl, who walked a a bit slower than he normally would.
"What exactly don't you like about this one? From what I read, some of those worlds aren't exactly pleasant." Daniel couldn't help but agree inwardly, but he didn't mind suffering if his wish could be granted.
"It's... Well, if I tell you, you'll probably be disgusted or grossed out." Despite seeing her sincere eyes, he really didn't want to tell someone else the secret he had kept within him for years now.
"I won't. I promise, whatever you say, I won't laugh." Hearing the girl's words, Daniel felt that she was a really good person because anyone else would have seen him and kept walking without caring about him.

"Ugh. Well." Daniel took a deep breath and then spoke softly. "I want to be a girl. I don't know why, but being a guy just feels... wrong?"
Half expecting the girl to recoil in disgust or to laugh at him, he didn't expect to see her look at him with an understanding gaze. The girl probably saw his shocked expression and decided to explain.
"I have a friend, she didn't like the gender she was born with, so she chose to be a girl." Hearing her words, Daniel smiled sadly and couldn't help but give whoever that was a thumbs up.
"I can't. I'm not even remotely feminine, so if I tried that, I'd probably just be looked down on." Daniel sighed as he thought of how brave the girl's friend was to just come out like that.
"So you want to look like a girl? There are some treatments for gender changing and facial reconstruction surgery." The girl spoke softly and Daniel chuckled.
"I'm not well off. I work a day job, so I can't afford it. Thanks for talking to me though, it did help." Daniel looked at the grocery store's entrance just a few meters away and turned to his companion.
Seeing him about to enter the store, the girl seemed to think of something as she looked at Daniel's back and then she decided to speak once more.
"I can grant your wish." Her voice was soft, but Daniel who was reaching for the glass door handle froze and then turned to look at the girl curiously.
"You might be doubtful, but I really can. You want to be a girl right? But you have to promise me something..." The girl trailed off as a nervous expression appeared on her face.
"What?" Daniel felt his heart lurch when he saw the girl's blue eyes focus on his own. He couldn't help but think that she was the most beautiful person he had ever met.
"My wish. I want you to be my friend forever. No matter what." Seeing the girl's trembling fists holding on to her sweater's edges, Daniel froze and then thought for a moment before holding out his hand for a handshake.
"I'm Daniel. It's nice to meet you." Daniel didn't believe the girl's words fully, but he decided that being a beauty's friend wasn't a loss.
"Elia. Elia Eclipse. It's a pleasure to meet you as well." Elia gently grasped his hand with her own, shaking it lightly. Daniel could feel that her hands were soft and cool to the touch.
"You don't have to worry about my wish, it's too troublesome. I'll be your friend though." Daniel felt that he could at least fulfill the kind girl's simple wish.
"Hehe~ Thank you Daniel. No... not Daniel. What name is it you wish to be called by?" Hearing her words, his heart started to race as a faint blush appeared on his face.
"Dani. It's not too different, but it's my ideal name." Daniel spoke in a bit of embarrassment, and a soft hand gently tugged him back away from the grocery store and in the direction of the park.
"Dani. It's cute!" Hearing her excited squeal, Daniel felt a hint of shyness but then a smile bloomed on his face, not realizing he was back in the park until Elia sat down.
"I was serious about granting your wish Dani. Here, close your eyes." Hearing Elia, Daniel's lips twitched but he did as she asked and closed his eyes.
"Sleep for now. When you wake up, you'll be a lot happier." Elia reached out and knocked Daniel unconscious with a feat of inhuman speed and strength.
