“I’m not joking.” Kevin suddenly leaned forward and moved closer. His right hand landed with a thud in front of Oswald with his palm up. The faint blue-green veins were vaguely distinct on his skin, running from the end of his palm to his wrist.
Because he was leaning one hand on the desk, his upper body was in a slanted and relaxed posture with a sense of carelessness.
His left hand casually gestured at his right wrist, smilingly said, “Have you forgotten? I can’t be wounded.”
Oswald glanced at his hand and lifted his eyes again. He slightly controlled the impatient look on his face, but his tone was still very hard. “Do you think you’re so strong because you can’t be wounded? Or have you grown four heads and eight limbs1Exaggeration to say someone is invincible. to replace 100 men with yourself?”
Kevin clicked his tongue. “Can’t you speak nicely?”
“Forgive my bluntness, but I can’t when I see you.” Oswald scoffed.
Kevin was simply helpless. He stared at Oswald in distress for a moment. The other party was unyielding, and he could only use a regression method.
“Hey –” Kevin sighed and knocked on the desk using the knuckle of his fingers. He resorted to persuading the other with a relatively gentle and rational approach. “See, everyone is anxious now. Everyone’s waiting for something to save their lives. Every day without progress is every day without peace. This kind of dread couldn’t be easily pushed down. I know you won’t believe much in something you’ve never seen with your own eyes. You would rather let the medical institution work overtime and develop a realistic cure than send a big batch of people to bet for the holy water with unknown effectiveness.”
Oswald pursed his lips into a stiff line, still unconvinced.
“Maybe Bassermen Emperor opened the way using batches of troops’ corpses at that time, but you don’t need to do that now. I alone am enough. I don’t have four heads and eight limbs, but I can’t be wounded. This means that I can make numerous attempts until I reach the door of the hall of the god’s tomb. The Medical Institution can continue producing the cure, and nobody will be hindered. The troops and guards can continue to patrol the cities and their stations. You don’t need to move a single person. The two routes will proceed in parallel without influencing each other.”
Kevin spread his hand. “It will be a delight if there’s a result. Even if the holy water doesn’t work, I’ll just take it as a trip. You won’t need to be worried about suffering from losses. Don’t know what you’re hesitating about?”
“…..” Oswald opened his mouth to retort, but no words came out of his mouth after opening and closing it several times. He probably couldn’t find any reason to retort Kevin’s statement.
That was right. He only needed to utilise a person, and maybe they could solve every problem. He would get a significant profit with a little effort; what a great deal! What would make him hesitate?
But Oswald seemed to have……an uneasy feeling.
Kevin let out a soft “ah.” “Let’s do it like this. I’m also not a stubborn person. Since you can’t say anything, we will change another method.” He raised his finger and pointed at Oswald’s right ear, saying, “I’ll count to three. Move your right ear if you don’t agree, and don’t move it if you agree. What do you think? Fine, I’ll begin. Three!”
Oswald: “…..” His right ear had f**king turned into sandstone and couldn’t move a damn!
Kevin pointed at that ear in satisfaction. “Yo, not bad. You understand the big picture.”
This statement was simply saying that the Emperor didn’t consider the bigger picture2Implying that someone is selfish.. His Excellency Fassbinder probably didn’t want to live anymore again. Oswald slapped his hand away, feeling very annoyed.
He was handsome but unsympathetic with his deeply sunken eyes, sharp, knife-like cheeks and slightly raised chin, combined with his constantly lousy expression. He always gave the impression of being extremely arrogant and stubborn.
This temperament would probably give him more of a monarch’s might if he were twenty or thirty years older with decades of experience.
Unfortunately, he was still young, and Kevin, this asshole, had never been afraid of him.
Kevin stood up straight again with a little smile hanging on the corners of his mouth. “Can I take it that you’re worried about my safety for you to accept this purely profitable deal reluctantly?”
Oswald’s face was stiff, and he didn’t say anything. After a while, he finally mocked. “Am I a masochist to worry about you?” He nonchalantly waved at Kevin after he finished speaking, indicating for him to get lost quickly so as not to make him angry.
This could be considered done.
Although he spent so much talking, Kevin finally convinced Oswald. After all, the young emperor wasn’t truly stubborn without regard for the greater good.
The news that he would rush into the Tomb of God Phae spread across the Wujinxuan Palace and the Three Big Army’s base camps in a blink of an eye. Even those city patrolling guards had gotten the news. It went without saying who was the one spreading the news.
When a person was desperate, they would try anything in a crisis. Regardless of who said it and how weird the method was, they couldn’t help but believe and try it.
Moreover, the one who spread the news was the Emperor, and the legend of the Tomb of the God Phae already had a fixed basis among the people. As a result, everyone who heard the news almost took it as a hope that they looked forward to.
For a moment, the dread enveloping the people slightly decreased.
Kevin was glad to see it happened and thought Oswald had done excellently.
The annoying this was that batches of people came looking for him. The Bronze Army’s elite came knocking on his door and asked to go to the Tomb of the God Phae together, making him unable to pack his things in peace. After that, the ordinary armoured soldiers threw themselves over in waves and shouted, “it’s a duty to sacrifice our lives for the country,” while fervently knocking on his door. Kevin also blocked and dismissed all of them.
Later, even the Red Iron Army and Wujin Iron Army also came over.
“…..” Kevin rubbed his face. “Camus, shouldn’t you take the Red Iron Army to patrol?! What’s the point of coming here?! What? There’s not enough time to prepare? I say…..I would have been ready 800 years ago if you guys didn’t keep knocking on my door. I didn’t lack anyone. Go quickly, go!”
Camus regretfully tugged his reins and left. Before leaving, he even muttered a sentence. “I’ll go find His Majesty.”
Kevin unhappily said to his back, “Take it easy when you’re riding. Be careful of your butt turning into sandstone!”
Camus: “Get lost!”
These were not hard to deal with, but his pet in human form was difficult to deal with – Ben.
Ben directly hugged his thigh and sat on the back of his feet, shamelessly making a scene. “You said you would give me every chance to train myself and make me stronger. I don’t care; I want to go! I’ve also heard of the legend of the Tomb of the God Phae. I’m not afraid. How can I become stronger if I don’t temper myself?! The nature of our clan is supposed to be a warrior. Have you heard of a warrior who hid inside the barrack once coming across danger?! It will be a disgrace to my life!”
Kevin tightened up the small leather bag filled with small objects hung around his waist and unhappily said, “It’s only been eight years of your life. Where would you get to be disgraced? You know how much of a jerk I am. The whole ‘respect the old and cherish the young’ doesn’t work on me.”
Ben still wanted to persist longer, but he was rapidly thrown to the wall when Kevin moved his leg. However, this didn’t dispel his intention. He quick-wittedly grabbed the water bottle on the table, pulled the plug, and threateningly said. “I will spit in the water bottle if you don’t take me with you! I will really spit in it, ah. Are you taking me or not?”
Kevin snorted and beckoned at him. “Why do you stand so far away? Didn’t you say you wanted to grab every chance and toughen yourself? Come and stand in front of me. I will give you the training right now.”
Ben faked a cry with “waah” and howled. “When I was young, my father would occasionally teach me punching and hunting whenever he was sober. He told me that Giant Beastman was born as a warrior and a warrior always had to move forward. That was all my father ever told me; how could I not listen –”
“Stop!” Kevin casually stuffed a sour berry into his mouth and blocked his words in time.
Ben: “…..” he couldn’t help but cry for real this time.
He felt so sour that his face was all scrunched up together, but he still held on to the water bottle; his determination could be seen clearly.
Kevin helplessly looked at him for a while.
He knew that this little lion’s words just now weren’t entirely fake. Ever since the death of Mac, Ben became scarily determined to “become the strongest warrior.” When he was in the barracks these few days, he trained madly compared to everyone else. Although he grumbled about Kevin abusing him every day, he was the most ruthless to himself. It was no wonder that he was from the Giant Beastman Clan.
“Forget it; you can follow since you insisted. It’s not like there’s any danger.” Kevin waved his hand. He muttered while tying up an arrow bag. “I don’t know why you think of excavating a tomb as training for yourself.”
Ben: “…..Aren’t you afraid of being struck by lightning if you speak of the gods like this?”
Kevin sneered.
A person and a lion started on a journey. Actually, it was quite imposing…..Unfortunately, Kevin didn’t get to be a solitary hero in the end.
Oswald picked a group of elite soldiers from the petitioning soldiers and shoved them at Kevin without a second thought. He stood in front of the dark and heavy palace gate, tugged on Kevin’s reins and said in a deep voice, “Remember, you’re there to survive. Don’t take risks and play with your life!”
Kevin felt somewhat ridiculous and drawled out a long “oh.”
Oswald said again, “Also –”
Kevin sat on the hippogriff’s back and bent down to look at him, waiting for him to finish his sentence. Unexpectedly, he paused for a long time and didn’t say anything anymore after saying this one word.
“Also, what?” Kevin asked with a curious look.
Oswald let go of the reins and patted the hippogriff. “Forget about it. Let’s talk about it again after you return.”
The hippogriff ran as fast as lightning. They were halfway across the pathway, leaving behind the massive and still palace in an instant.
Kevin: “…..” The person who spoke halfway was the one who ought to be struck by lightning!
