"What does Mana need? What can we do to ensure that something like this doesn't happen again?" Raven asked anxiously.
Imperial Physician Kale shrugged. "As I said, there is nothing wrong with her or her magic. She is healthier than before, and her magic is also fully stable. Even if there was a fluctuation that you felt earlier, Prince Raven, there is nothing problematic right now," he said.
Mana patted Raven's arm, trying to calm him down. "I really am fine, Raven," she said.
Raven bit his lip and stared at her with aggrieved eyes. "Are you sure?" he murmured in a soft voice.
Mana nodded and sat up. "I am," she said. "But there's something you can definitely do for me to make me feel better."
Raven nodded. "Anything you need," he said immediately, ready to pluck the stars out of the sky if Mana wanted them!
Mana smiled at him. "I am really, really hungry," she said. "Can we go and have lunch now?" she asked, batting her eyelashes at Raven.
"Of course," Raven said quickly, and helped her stand up, even though Mana was perfectly stable by herself.
Seeing Mana stand up, Azar flew off from King Jaren's shoulder and came to her instead. "Mommy is really all right?" he asked softly.
Mana patted the little black dragon's head affectionately. "Mommy is fine, little one," she said. "Isn't our dear Azar hungry now? Don't you want to eat?" she asked brightly, trying to distract the baby dragon. "Mommy is really hungry, you know?"
Predictably, Azar's attention was diverted to the thought of food right away.
"Azar is hungry, too! Azar will eat with Mommy!" the little black dragon declared.
"Well, then, let's go," King Jaren said. "Lunch is waiting for us anyway."
Jules and Bella led Queen Carolina, General Aquila and Rook out of the room and towards the dining hall. Mana and Raven followed, while Azar returned to King Jaren's shoulder and tugged at his hair. "Grandpapa, let's go, let's go," the little black dragon said.
On the other shoulder of King Jaren, Alya copied Azar's actions as well.
King Jaren chuckled. "Why don't you join us for lunch, Imperial Physician Kale?" he asked. "I am sure you and Dora have a few things to talk about."
Imperial Physician Kale remained silent for a moment and then looked at Queen Dora. "Very well," he said. After all, Queen Dora had been like a daughter to him – and he had been good friends with her parents.
"I also need to thank Imperial Physician Kale for saving little Mana and looking after her all these years," Queen Dora said. "Thank you, Imperial Physician Kale," she told him gratefully.
Imperial Physician Kale shrugged carelessly, but the small smile on his face gave him away. "It is good that you are back, Queen Dora," he murmured, as the three of them followed the others towards the dining hall.
When King Jaren, Queen Dora and Imperial Physician Kale arrived with the two little dragons, everyone else had already resumed their seats around the table and were waiting for them to arrive. An extra seat for Imperial Physician Kale had also been laid out already, much to his surprise.
Delicious food was served, and amicable conversation surrounded the table as everyone enjoyed their meal.
Raven kept glancing at Mana worriedly, until Mana could take it no more and grabbed his hand.
"Don't worry so much, sweetie," she said patting his hand in a reassuring manner. "I'm not going to faint again."
Raven didn't look quite convinced yet.
Mana sighed. "I'll explain later," she whispered. "Just – just don't worry so much, all right?"
Raven sighed and nodded.
Mana felt a bit guilty seeing him so worried about her and knowing that she could not tell him the truth about the book and its contents. She would never, ever let Raven know that he had been termed as the 'Evil Emperor' in the book and how he had been made into the very epitome of a bad guy.
Mana suddenly felt very grateful to Mommy Dee for making her analyse the characters instead of blindly following the trend. If not, wouldn't Mana have wrong this lovely little boy terribly?
And how could anyone with functional eyes and a working brain ever consider Raven to be evil? As far as Mana was concerned, he was the nicest of the entire lot! And the best! And the most talented! And the smartest!
Raven had no idea that his beloved fiancée was raving about his greatness in her head at the moment. He simply basked in the affection and positive feelings that were flowing from Mana towards him and felt his own heart settle back in its place after the panic caused earlier by Mana's sudden collapse.
After the meal was over, a bunch of dignified royals lay around the dining table like fattened pigs too lazy to move.
"I can't believe I ate so much," Queen Carolina murmured, patting her tummy. "When I come to the Emerald Kingdom in the future, I'll have to instruct my imperial medical staff to prepare a dieting regiment for me when I return to the Sapphire Kingdom – I'm sure that if I stay here for a couple of weeks or so, I will put on at least ten pounds!"
Then she glanced at King Jaren enviously. "How do you stay so fit when you eat like this every day?" she demanded.
King Jaren laughed.
"Jaren's metabolism has always been naturally fast," Queen Dora murmured. "He could eat like a pig and still look like a cheetah at the end of it."
"Jules must have inherited that," Bella murmured.
"Ma, you should have seen Big Brother and Raven when they were having their magic surge," Mana spoke up. "They ate mountains and mountains of food, and still remained as skinny as a pair of bamboo sticks!"
King Jaren laughed. "Little Mana was so worried that we wouldn't be able to feed the boys through their years of magic surges at the time that she started planning for several businesses immediately," he told Queen Dora. "That's how we all got to know that our little Mana was such a business genius, and with Raven helping her – these two children could practically double the gross income of our Emerald Kingdom several times over." Pride shone in his emerald eyes.
Jules and Raven flushed in embarrassment.
Bella and Mana patted the arms of their respective fiancés with gentle movements to reassure them that they didn't mind how much they ate during their magic surges.
"Actually, even I eat like a horse when I have a magic surge," Bella said. "And even in general, I definitely eat at par with Jules – well, almost." She shook her head ruefully. "But I need to exercise to keep my weight under control, otherwise I would blow up like a balloon while Jules would remain as thin as a lath and we would look terrible together."
"You would never look terrible," Jules said loyally, taking Bella's hand.
"But what if I grow fat? Like really, really fat?" Bella asked.
Jules blinked, trying to imagine how Bella would look then, like a round ball, all chubby and cute. "I think you would look adorable," Jules murmured, his eyes dazed. "And there would be more of you to love."
Bella flushed. Why was this boy's mouth so sweet? How was she supposed to resist him?
"Bravo, Big Brother, bravo!" Mana said, clapping her hands. Her big brother really was a dreamboat, she thought. On the other hand, she finally understood why the normally studious Big Sister Bella was so enthusiastic about combat training! Nothing burnt calories as easily as practising combat early in the morning! And with General Aquila, that too!
General Aquila rubbed his tummy ruefully. "Jaren, is this your nefarious plan of plying the enemy general with delicious food until he becomes such a glutton that he won't be able to go to war?" he teased.
King Jaren laughed and patted General Aquila's shoulder.
"Who's an enemy general?" he asked with a mock glare. "Aren't you our little Raven's Father Aqi? How would I ever consider you my enemy? Isn't Raven my child?"
General Aquila laughed as well. "Yes, yes, of course," he said happily. "We are relatives now, and I can eat the delicious food of the Emerald Kingdom as much as I want, even if it makes me too fat to ride my horse into battle!"
Rook patted his father's arm in a comforting manner. "Don't worry, Father, you can eat as much as you want and become a proper lazy lump – I will carry on your legacy and become a great battle general like you in your stead! And I will protect Big Brother Raven and Sister Mana properly and I would never let any harm come to them!" he declared.
General Aquila patted his son's head affectionately and said to him proudly, "Good, my dear boy Rook. You're a good boy. You do that."
