Thanks to little Alya, everyone had a good laugh, and King Jaren patiently explained to the little white dragon why girls and boys were different and why Grandpapa wouldn't be able to become a good girl like Alya and a good boy like Azar at the same time.

Alya finally understood, but she was very unhappy, clearly wanting 'good girl' company.

"Mama, Auntie Mana – both of you will be a good girl like Alya?" she asked with a pout. "And Grandmama and Grandmother Carolina also? We will all be a good girl like Alya?"

"Of course we will," all four ladies replied immediately, cooing over the little white dragon.

That had a pacifying effect on little Alya and she was satisfied with the outcome.

"So, shall we get going?" Queen Dora asked. "Who all are coming with me finally?"

"Jules, Bella, the two little ones and me," King Jaren told her.

General Aquila patted Mana and Raven on the head. "I'll keep an eye on these two here," he said. "You guys come back quickly and then we will join Carolina in the Sapphire Kingdom once you come back home."

Queen Carolina nodded as well. "That sounds good. I will go back to the Sapphire Kingdom now and take stock – hopefully we will find something useful and be able to take action for everyone's safety soon," she said. "Please come over to the Sapphire Kingdom once you are done. We will proceed to the Amber Kingdom together as planned."

"Yes, we will do that," King Jaren said. "Is everyone ready?"

Everyone nodded.

Queen Carolina departed first – and she knew that she had to keep an eye out for traitors and fake people within her own imperial palace.

Queen Dora closed her eyes and held out both of her arms, and then she chanted a long, complicated spell and opened a glowing array that seemed to float about one foot or so above the ground. The pattern was extremely intricate, and it glowed with luminous shades of silver and amber.

Everyone watched in fascination.

"All right, it's ready now," Queen Dora said after some time, opening her eyes. "We have to get up on it and it will take us to my master's place."

Saying so, she nimbly stepped up on the array as if it was a solid platform.

The array didn't move at all – it really was like a solid platform, King Jaren realised as soon as he followed his wife and stepped on to the array right after she did.

Azar and Alya were settled in their favourite spots on King Jaren's shoulders as usual, and both the baby dragons were eyeing the array as if it was a particularly tasty treat.

Everyone noticed that, and King Jaren decided that he would have to ask Queen Dora later if she could make one of these arrays for the two little ones to snack on later, since they seemed to be wanting to eat it. If required, King Jaren could also learn this array and prepare it as a snack for their two precious little dragons!

Jules and Bella also climbed up after King Jaren and Queen Dora.

Bella's eyes glowed with interest as she studied the intricate pattern of the array. "This is fascinating," she murmured. "Ma, do you mind if I discuss this array with you later?"

Queen Dora chuckled. "Yes, of course, my dear girl. You are my kid now, too. We can discuss whatever you want and whenever you want to discuss it," she said, patting Bella's pretty hair.

Bella flushed, looking like a proper fan girl at the moment.

Jules and King Jaren looked at each other and shrugged helplessly, identical doting expressions on their handsome faces that were so similar to each other.

Queen Dora gestured with her hand and the array flashed silver and amber, blindingly bright for a moment, and then disappeared into thin air instantly.

General Aquila looked very impressed, and so did Rook.

"Azar and Alya seemed very interested in eating it," Mana commented lazily, eyeing Raven. "Did you get to take a look at how Ma managed to make it? Do you think we can find some similar arrays for our little dragons to eat?" she asked.

Raven chuckled. "I should be able to replicate it," he said. "But it will be different from the one Ma made, even if I use the same elements of water and fire. There is a lot of individuality that goes into it…"

"Will it harm Azar and Alya if they eat it? What food group do you think it's in? Junk food?" Mana asked curiously.

Raven shook his head. "It won't harm them," he replied. "But they definitely shouldn't eat too much of it. A little bite here or there or a small serving like a snack should be fine, though," he replied. "I'll work out the exact portions we could give them."

King Jaren didn't know that Mana and Raven were thinking exactly along the same lines as him at this moment.

Their group had already landed at the place of Queen Dora's master – which seemed to be a barren land full of a strange kind of bleak beauty that they would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. It was indeed a strange place, with no vegetation, no flora and fauna and full of craggy creaks. But it was still somehow pretty, perhaps because of its starkness.

King Jaren, Jules and Bella looked around curiously, while the two little dragons clung to King Jaren.

"Grandpapa, big bad magic here," Alya said fearfully.

"Very bad magic, Grandpapa," Azar said with a shiver.

This was the first time King Jaren, Jules and Bella had seen the two little dragons look scared!

Immediately, they were alarmed.

Queen Dora, on the other hand, seemed quite at home in this bleak environment.

"Don't worry," she said quietly. "Even though my master is a necromancer, he is a very decent person."

"A necromancer!" Jules exclaimed in shock.

Queen Dora narrowed her eyes at him. "So what if he is a necromancer? He saved my life and helped me hide you away, and helped me take steps to keep Mana safe as well – does all of that count for nothing simply because he is a necromancer? When have we been so rigid in the Emerald Kingdom?" she asked, annoyance pooling in her mismatched eyes.

Jules was taken aback by her sudden fierce attitude.

"Ma, I don't think Jules meant any offence," Bella spoke up softly. "We were just surprised to learn this, that is all. We have nothing against your master, and if he saved you, then we have reasons to be grateful to him, instead."

"Indeed, Bella is right," King Jaren said quietly. "Jules never said anything to the contrary." He fixed his eyes on Queen Dora. "There is no reason to get so upset or so angry, Dora. None of us are here to blame your master for anything – it is exactly as Bella said; since he saved you and helped to keep our children safe, we have reasons to be grateful to him instead, and we mean him no harm."

Queen Dora blinked and her expression cleared.

"I'm sorry," she murmured. "I overreacted."

"No, no, it's fine, Ma," Jules said quickly, finally snapping out of his daze.

King Jaren slipped an arm around his wife's slim waist. "So – shall we see if your master is at home now?" he asked gently.

Queen Dora nodded and led them through some strange rock formations to a hidden clearing where a big stone cottage stood in the centre. Unlike the barren landscape around, this clearing was like an oasis in the middle of the desert – the stone cottage was surrounded by plants and greenery, and several small animals and birds loitered around the garden.

Queen Dora led all of them to the door of the cottage and knocked on it.

"Master? It's Dora. Are you home?" she called in a loud voice.

The door opened slowly and the two little dragons clung to King Jaren, trembling in fear.

Worried, King Jaren plucked the two little ones from his shoulders and cuddled them against his chest.

"Don't worry, my little ones," he whispered softly. "Grandpapa is here, and Grandpapa will protect you, no matter what."

Azar and Alya buried their little faces in their beloved Grandpapa's broad chest.

Seeing the two baby dragons behaving like this, Jules and Bella were extremely worried as well. The two little dragons had been rather fearless since they were born, and the two of them had never acted like this before! It made them worry about what was in the air around them, and who exactly this master of Queen Dora was, to scare their precious little babies like this?!

Thinking along similar lines, Jules and Bella exchanged a meaningful glance and moved close to King Jaren, flanking him on either side protectively. The young couple was determined to protect their dear Papa and their precious baby dragons!
