Chapter 22: Chapter 20 – This dungeon’s level is too high (part 2)

Akira traveled first by subway and then by bus. When she reached her stop It was 9:30 pm, dark and raining heavy. Lightnings were flashing frequently.

Akira exited the bus in a Meguro district. It was more of a businesses type where factories and warehouses were situated.

She looked around. The street was desolated. The rain has chased away the pedestrians from the streets. She was standing next to a covered bus stop on the sidewalk.

Akira heard a child sniffing and approached. A 4-5 years old boy was standing in the rain looking confused.

"Hello little one. Did you lose your mommy?"

The boy shook his head in agreement.

Akira lifted her head to look around and heard it. Sounds of moans and fucking coming from the bus stop.

"You wait here and don't move, I will find your mommy" Akira

When Akira entered the bus stop was met of the familiar sight:

A woman was laying on the bench and a spiderman doing her the missionary stile. The woman's legs were lifted and bent as to grab the man's ass. The man was working hard and the woman was moaning in delight. They didn't even noticed Akira standing there.

"She even forgot about her son here. Disgusting" Akira

Akira made another check of the surrounding area. Clear. Lightnings were frequently erupting in the sky

"Well a little bit more lightning show would not be so much of an issue"

"Very soon in about 10 minutes. Now tell me little one, what do you like to play?"

"When in the kindergarten or at home?

"Well we have many toys but my favorite is the sand pit"

"I can make there castles and a big mountain"

"Habiki is that you". The woman's voice finally come from their behind

"What kind lady?" boy's mother

"ahm that one" the boy pointed in a direction.

The woman focused her gaze and saw a vague figure slowly disappearing in the rain and the "Security" label fading.

"Oh you are all wet, lets go home quickly, I will make you hot misu soup"

in about 30 minutes with the help of her map drawings Akira found herself in a dead end alley. She kneeled over a sewer shaft and grabbed its handles. Akira pulled as hard as she could. Muscles bulged and after several seconds the lid popped out of its socket. She moved the 40 kg metal disk away and put her head torch on. About 3 meters down bellow she could see the ground. A sound of water rushing could be heard as well.

"I hope there wont be any rats" said Akira and descended the stairs

There was a 3 meters diameter sewer tunnel with 30 cm walking metal catwalk. The smell was moldy and stale but not so bad.

Akira look again in her map, took out a chalk and drew an arrow on the wall. Then mounted the backpack and moved. There were many crossroads and tunnels splitting and joining in bigger ones. Still Akira walked confident marking every turn she took with an arrow.

In about 40 minutes the tunnel in front of her appeared blocked by a solid metal bars grid and a heavy bar door.

There were few metal rods laying around on the ground probably leftovers from the construction of the metal wall.

Akira checked the map again.

"I am deep in the church's compound now".

She tried the door. It was locked.

Akira pointed the hand torch to the door's lock in order to examine it better. It appeared as a complicated lock mechanism, probably installed recently.

Akira sighed and said:

"Damn I don't know how to pick locks"

....

"There is no other way around". Akira was in a deep though

What were her options. She had purchased a lock picking tool from a locksmith, but she did not know how to use it. Akira was staring at the box in her backpack containing many different picks and gadgets.

After 10 minutes of thinking Akira finally said:

"Kornelius, do you know how to pick a lock? Akira was not expecting much of a positive answer.

"No, why would a system architect need such a skill? Kornelius

"I thought so. Sigh, there is a solid metal door blocking my advance" Akira

"Hmm, so why don't you do it yourself then?" Kornelius

"I don't have the skill" and at that moment, Akira eyes opened in an epiphany.

The corridor was long 2 meters wide man made tunnel. There were no intersections just moving forward in a slight slope.

"Probably a ventilation shaft" Akira guessed

In about 200 meters Akira though she heard something coming from the tunnel ahead. She moved few steps and stopped.

Now it was more clear. Sounds of many clicks on the concrete in a fast rhythm as a sawing machine or a multi legged creature!!!

And it was approaching fast, very fast.

Akira turned around and sprinted with all her might back to the entrance. The creature chasing her was still approaching even at Akira's maximum running speed. She dropped the backpack and continued to run

150m ...Akira could now hear the clicks of an insect mouth mandibles

100 m Akira heard the creature stop

50 m Akira heard a sound of swish and was hit on her back with something liquid

The creature was few meters away she could feel it's sinister aura - the same as the rabbit mantis. Akira saw the door grabbed it and slam it shut behind her back.

bang, thud...

Something crushed at the bars behind. Akira lost her balance and made several rolls on the ground, the head torch dropped somewhere in the middle of it. Akira landed on her front.

"screech" the demon

Akira rose her head and noticed the demon

"EXORCISE" she cast immediately

A glowing ring formed on top of the demon finally revealing its form.

It was something akin to an ant but pony sized with horns instead antennas and 2 sets of mouth mandibles at least 30 cm long. It had 4 fist size facet eyes and 8 thin legs ending with sharp blades.

The spell timer was ticking in the corner of Akira eye: 30..29...

"Ohh shit shit shit"

Akira's back was smoking emitting a horrible stench of burning plastic. She quickly dropped the raincoat. On its back was a green goo that was corroding fast the material which was supposed to be very resistant to such threats.

The demon slam its body at the bars again, the sheer force caused some dust and small rocks to fall from the roof where the bars we connected to the tunnel. Fortunately they held.

The concrete floor started to melt, green smoke appeared.

a pair of glowing eyes were staring at her

"Kyaaaaa" with a manly cry she jumped back from all fours position and landed on her butt.

This time her war cry scared the little rat who vanished quickly in the dark.

"phew just a rat" Akira laid her back on the cold tunnel wall

"It was a lvl 24 acidic ant demon" Kornelius

"That was a very large ant, if you ask me" Akira

"It is obviously a hive" Kornelius
