January 20th 2060

My team and I have been taken to our new workplace for further research and development of ET.  Surprisingly, this facility seems to be well funded and maintained for something that's meant to be kept in secret.  The quartz walls were a shiny white that reflected the light from the LED light panels from the ceiling.

When we came here, we expected it to be more dilapidated and broken, but everything here looks to be carefully attended to without a worry about budget.  I think our employers here have a real interest in ETs, while I'd like to ponder exactly why this field interests them, I already know the answer.  I wouldn't- no,  I can't risk asking just to check if I'm right or not.  Who knows what they'll do to me, even worse if I'm right.

January 30th, 2060

After the fear had settled down from the test trial of the agony ETA,  I happened to accidentally eavesdrop on a gossiping group of colleagues near a water cooler.  What they talked about had me constantly rolling my eyes: talks of pay, each other's families, and the like endlessly flowed from their mouths, they shifted from topic to topic at a pace that I couldn't keep up with.  Uninterested in their random conversation, I nearly left my spot:  but then, they began to speak of something that my curiosity couldn't pass by.

The chatting group spoke of hearing voices, whispers that they couldn't fully make out coming from a place they couldn't see.  One said this happened while he was eating alone in the cafeteria, he checked for the source of the sound, but when he checked where he thought the noise came from, there was nothing.  The others shared a similar story happening them:  One said she heard low voices while laying in her bed, trying to sleep.  Another shared a story where, while writing drafts for a report about the recent experiment, she heard screaming just outside his door, and when he checked, he found nothing.

From these accounts, the only constant was that they were in the facility and that they were alone.  I am interested in this topic as it may relate to the effects that ETs and ETAs have on people, but before I could ask them for more information, they all walked away, supposedly to perform their duties.

I was slightly disappointed by that then,  but I know how to let that stuff go.  But as I started to walk off to the restroom, I heard chatter nearby the water cooler.   I thought that the previous group of people returned, I went back to my position and waited for them to speak.  A few moments passed by, but I heard nothing but silence, so I went to check if they really did come back to the water cooler, only to find that no one was there.

Tonight, I would sleep with my body huddled under the small covers of the blanket.
