After Harris took over Sunny's schedule, Sunny started to have a lot of meetings while also getting a proper routine in life. Work from morning to 5 in the evening and after that, it is basically meeting with senior management over drinks or meeting new people in LA.
On Jan 12, Sunny was having a meeting at Lunch with Kenneth and an invited guest. A very special guest, Jerry Bruckheimer. The meeting was in Kenneth's private villa and there was complete privacy and security all around.
Jerry had been in Hollywood for more than twenty years now and he had rich film production experience. Sunny knew this guy would go on to become the greatest cash cow for Disney, making movies that will turn millions of dollars in profit.
"Hello, Mr Bruckheimer. It's really not easy to meet you," Sunny shook hands with the guy and took his seat.
"Well, call me Jerry. I have to say, Kenny here did offer a big deal I couldn't bring myself saying no," Jerry replied with a small laugh.
The big deal that Jerry was talking about was a 200 million dollar deal with Rover Pictures to produce big-budget movies with their studio. It was not the biggest deal for Jerry though. Only two years ago, in 1990, he struck a 500 million dollar deal with Paramount to produce five movies, entirely of his choice with his partner and co-producer Don Simpson.
However, their first movie failed to make any big noise and even though it was a commercial success, it was considered a failure for Paramount. The movie had everything, a big budget, great actors and great stunts but it just failed in the script area.
Many would remember this film, Days of Thunder as one of the great car racing movies with Tom Cruise in the lead but because it was Tom Cruise, the audience began comparing it with the previous movie Top Gun and that ruined the chances for it in turning something like Top Gun.
Anyway, that failure broke Jerry and Don Simpson and finally Jerry was ready to start working alone on the kind of movies he wanted. Hence, he finally took the 200 million dollar offer.
"So, tell me, do you have any script in mind or any theme you are going for," Sunny enquired.
Even though it was not official, since Jerry was ready to have a drink, Sunny knew he had agreed in working with their studio.
"No. I am still selecting scripts for now. I am thinking of doing something low-budget first to get complete production under my control. Build a solid team and then move to big-budget productions." Jerry openly replied.
"So, a comedy or horror?" Sunny bluntly asked because only these two allow for low budget and higher box office returns in general.
"A comedy. I don't understand the horror that much to be honest," Jerry said.
"Great. Keep us in the loop and in case you are ready to hit the floor, just give a call to Kenny or me," Sunny spoke and he also spoke with Kenneth before leaving the two guys.
Sunny knew Kenny had a lot in common with Jerry and leaving Jerry with Kenny might help in the long run.
"Sir, we have a meeting with the screenplay department in the evening. Shall I move it to tomorrow or do you want to go back to the office," Cole asked who was waiting for Sunny in the car with her sister.
"Let's go back. Let's finish today's schedule. I have to meet with Stanford guys tomorrow," Sunny replied and came back to his office.

(Meeting Room)
Sunny was sitting in the main chair while Cole and Jennifer were standing behind. He was basically reading the synopsis of the movie scripts their film company received in last few months.
Sunny wanted to know what kind of scripts their company was getting and if there was something worth investing at this point.

"Okay, so let's do by genre. Horror movies first," Sunny spoke and one executive handed him a file.
"Okay, we have aliens, vampires and monsters. Aliens first," Sunny humorously read the first few scripts until one particular script struck chord with him.
"This one, The Message. It is heavily dependent on nudity, sci-fi and alien theme. I like it. Sex sells. Besides, this story also has some good points. Who is the writer?" Sunny asked.
Sunny felt this movie was very similar to an alien movie that Scarlett Johansson did - Under the Skin but this has more marketable ideas than that boring literary movie.
"Sir, it's from Dennis Feldman. He is a screenwriter and had worked as co-producer on three of his movies now." One executive replied.
"Great. At least he knows this stuff and it shows in the script. But we will need to modify this and fix some big loopholes. Find me a good directors who can work on this kind of movie. Special effects will be given to Weta.
This one is good to go."
Sunny directly approved the first movie for them. Then he read several scripts, from Milkman, Candyman, Castle Freak, Bitten....so on and so on until he was done with the pile and utterly disappointed.
There were some good movies in the pile but it made sense for them to distribute these rather than spend money and time producing these. Sunny opened his own personal diary, a small diary he kept with the names of future blockbusters and found Annabelle that was market with green pen and had H written in front.
It meant it was not made yet and ready to go. Annabelle. He remembered the doll focused horror movie. Noting it down, he put the diary back in his pocket and focused on reading other stories.
By the end of the day, Sunny had read over 35 different scripts over 7 different Genres and approved 4 movies for production.
The Message (Horror), Minimum Speed (Action), The Santa Clause (Comedy) and finally Quentin Tarantino's script for his new movie Pulp Fiction (Action).
Out of these four, Sunny was sure that his studio won't lose money on - The Message and Pulp Fiction because he was sure he had seen these movies.
Minimum speed was basically the Speed movie but this version of script is far from it and Sunny is not sure if he it is a different movie or not. Finally. The Santa Clause is not a movie he remembers but considering this is a Christmas movie and with good actors, movies like this hardly fail, he gave the green light to this one too.
All in all, Sunny had basically fixed an investment of another 150 million considering these four movies and his hands were really tied after such a big investment.
The Screenwriters were almost rendered mute with the way Sunny was working. Just one look, enquiring basic details and he would set the final budget and give it approval. This was a hundred times faster and more efficient than other studios out there.
It takes weeks or months before any film is put in production and it generally goes multiple layers of approval. Not here. At least not with Sunny.
Sunny didn't care about their reaction. The year 1993 is fixed with Need For Speed and Pokemon second movie, including Pokemon TV series.
Now he decided to write Horror story of Annabelle and the Ring. Annabelle and Ring are two low budget horror movies with a very limited cast and can be shot mostly inside the studio.
Besides, Annabelle would launch the Horroverse and The Ring will start its own series and considering a long term plan, making these two movies in next two year is the best choice.
