The Forge of the Magus

The kingdoms of the Grasp have existed for centuries in an unsteady peace, held in deadlock by the power of the Magi in their heart and the inhospitable realms of savages on their perimeters. And through it all, they've thought this would be the way of things forever. But an outlander invades from the south, swiftly conquering the border realms, and declaring himself to be the Chosen One of prophecy—and suddenly that enduring status quo does not seem so secure.

Meanwhile, a girl from an obscure village finds herself thrust into the wider world, right into the heart of rising danger in a land slowly falling to chaos.

This story is told in a third-person limited perspective, with multiple rotating viewpoints. Each chapter reflects the views of the viewpoint character, and not necessarily the views of the author. I will post content warnings in advance of chapters where appropriate—the following content warnings apply to the story generally, but will not be flagged on a chapter-by-chapter basis:
