I woke up in the large canopy bed, shimmering see-through silk sheets cascading down the side of it, morning sun rays kissing my eyes good morning through them.
So satisfying!
The sheets are truly comfortable! So soft and warm, a comfortable heavy weight pressing down on my body. Lifting my heavy eyelids, I bask in the laziness of life.
I feel so blessed!
After going to the gardens with mother yesterday, everyone insisted I spend the rest of the day in my room resting, which was wonderful, though a bit boring.
I spent some time talking to Maja which was nice, as she’s always so attentive and full of love. It feels weird being so loved by people you barely know.
Still, I don’t hate it.
After that she went and got me some books, which were interesting, and then I went to sleep after quite the light evening meal.
A bright new day, I wonder what I want to do with it? It would be nice if I could visit my new brothers, or father, though they always seemed truly busy when thinking about them in my old life. Though, if I don’t come to them they will surely visit me anyway.
It’s just that kind of family.
-
I called out for Maja, and she quickly came in with a knock before helping me get ready for the day. Maja and the other maids helped me take a wonderful bath, before dressing me in a light yellow summer dress
I had to do a little spin in it, watching the skirts spin around me.
I felt a bit silly acting so childish, though seeing the smiles on the maids faces I didn’t regret doing it.
-
After a light breakfast I asked if I could go visit father, which they told me was completely fine.
Leading me through the opulent hallways again, there were very few people except for a few guards and maids, who all smiled and curtsied when we walked by.
-
I had been told by Maja that these were the Royal quarters, only for the Emperor and Empress and his closest family, which of course is only my father and mother and my brothers and me.
Walking through the hallway, it’s full of colorful paintings and tapestries depicting beautiful people and scenes.
The windows are still wide and tall, letting in lots of light and the red and gold color palette in the hallway highlighted by the sunlight, makes it look like we’re walking through a palace made of gold.
It’s like a fairy tale.
Maja is holding my arm tightly and securely, still worried after I fell just one time while running in front of her.
Still, it was yesterday, so I can’t blame her at all.
-
Finally making it to the royal court, where my father is talking to some important advisors or such, we stand outside a large and lavish door in a huge hallway.
Outside the door, there are four elite armored guards, standing completely straight with serious expressions on their faces.
Though, when they see me, walking hand in hand with Maja, they all look completely shocked.
It’s not that surprising really, as the princess had not been healthy enough to walk around the palace for a long time.
They had all heard about the princess waking up and feeling a bit better, even about her visiting the gardens with the empress, though hearing rumors, no matter how credible, are always nothing compared to the surprise of suddenly seeing the beautiful princess walking to the door they are guarding.
-
All the guards quickly fix their expressions, before greeting me politely.
“Your highness,” said the first guard to notice me, before the three others quickly followed, bowing deeply.
“Your highness”
I smiled brightly at them, before asking them;
“Is my father inside?”
“Yes, his imperial highness is currently entertaining the royal advisors inside”
I thought to myself for a couple of seconds, before asking.
“Is it something really important?” pouting slightly.
The guard looked dazzled for half a second, before quickly answering;
“It’s an ordinary meeting being held at this time every day, so nothing extra special, though still important to keep the kingdom running.”
I smiled, before nodding, walking up between them and knocking on the door.

“Who is it?”
I could hear the voice of my father, asking in quite the severe tone.
I motioned to the guard I had been speaking to, to open the door slightly before sticking my head through the door.
“Father!” I said, smiling brightly at him.
-
He was sitting at a large table, with three other people.
One older man with a full head of white hair, dressed in billowing brown robes, that looked a bit weird but still of obvious quality. He seemed like your typical old wise man, with his wild white hair and sharp eyes.
The two others were younger, both seemingly in their forties or fifties, clad in beautiful and colorful aristocratic clothing.
The emperor, my father, looked amazing as always. He was wearing a cloak, and some kind of military uniform.
He looked serious and angry for a second, before noticing it was me, becoming surprised.
“Roseanne,” he exclaimed.
He walked fast over to the door, opening it fully, before giving me a tight hug.
He held me for a couple of seconds, me melting into his embrace, before he asked,
“Is something wrong?” scrutinizing me from head to toe.
I shook my head from side to side.
“No,” I answered.
“I just wanted to see you!”
“Being in my room all day is way too boring,” I answered with a pout. (both of which were very true).
“Are you sure you are feeling well enough to walk all this way?” he asked.
“You could have asked for me and I would have come to you instead,” he said with quite the serious expression on his face, though failing to hide his wide smile behind his serious expression.
-
I decided to ignore him for a second, walking past him into the room, and sat down on his chair, looking at all the papers and reports on his table.
There were a lot of stuff.
He walked over behind me, and seeing him standing there, I stood up, before motioning him to sit down at his chair again.
He sat down, looking at me questioningly, probably about to ask the servants for a chair for me or something, before I sat down on his lap instead.
Everyone in the room were in a combination of surprise and happiness, though probably my father most of all.
He was a huge man, tall and full of muscle, which only meant he made for an incredibly comfortable chair with his large torso making for the perfect back rest.
Perfect.

Hmm?
“Isn’t it weird for a person that was a man in his old life to sit on the lap of the emperor?” you ask?
Well, it is a bit strange, though Roseanne is now Roseanne, and has accepted her new identity fully, and is seemingly just trying to live a careful and happy life in this second chance she’s been given.
She doesn’t think about her old identity too much, she’s just happy she has so many loving people around her, and wants to give back as much love as possible.
And also, to get pampered and have as much fun as possible as well!
People may say that this is a process that takes a lot of time, and that the transition should be more gradual, even though this is a special circumstance.
but people are all different, and deal with stuff at different paces. Some people would never accept this new body they woke up in as their own, while others accept it right away in their own minds and hearts.
Though she will never lose her memories or her personality or anything, she has just decided to live the life she wants to live now, which I truly commend her for.
She is kind and brave, though there are of course also some parts of herself she is repressing.
