Sitting in the lap of my father, everyone in the room had their focus on me. The advisors were of course visibly surprised, while my father didn’t seem to mind at all, rather he had a goofy smile on his face instead.
Quite the undignified expression for an emperor, but he has to be allowed to be human at times, too.
Especially with such a wonderful daughter, doing cute things.
Right?
-
Never mind my father’s expression, he had so far failed to introduce me to the people in this room, so I'd have to take it into my own hands.
I coughed lightly twice to get their attention.
“Hello, I am princess Roseanne de Bianchi, pleased to make your acquaintance,” I said with a smile.
They still looked quite out of sorts, but smiled back at me with way better expressions than before.
The oldest of the men started speaking first. The one with a head full of white hair, quite disorderly and sticking out in all directions. He was still dressed in billowing brown robes, your typical older man, but with sharp eyes telling of intelligence and wit.
Though when his attention turned to me, his expression became a lot softer, and I could see that his eyes were actually a quite clear blue.
Pretty!
-
“I’m very pleased to make your acquaintance, my name is Frederick von Heisel. I'm the chief advisor of your father and help him with many of the daily decisions needed to make the kingdom run seamlessly” he said.
He spoke with confidence, and it was clear that he knew what he was doing.
The dependable and honorable sort.
“You might not know this, but we’ve actually met before when you were younger, and dare I say even cuter than you are now,” he continued with a nostalgic smile, which made him look ten years younger.
The two other men in the room's expressions softened hearing Fredrick speaking with the princess.
I shook my head while smiling at him.
“I wish I remembered, but I was probably too young. Luckily, we have lots of time to get to know each other now.” I continued with a brighter smile.
He smiled brightly back, while drying a little tear at the corner of his eye.
-
I looked over at the man sitting on his right side. He was younger, with a head full of black hair which was meticulously styled. He looked to be in his early forties, with quite a bit of grey in his beard and with a couple of grey highlights at the edges of his scalp as well. The grey didn’t make him seem older, rather it added to his good looks.
His face was also quite good looking, with a chiseled jaw and features that looked good in that rugged sort of way. His body was also very well trained, obviously an army man. He was wearing a tight fitting forest green uniform / suit, which only seemed to highlight his trained physique.
“Your highness, this one is Augustus von Romane, military advisor of his majesty, your father.” He said.
His greeting seemed very formal, but he was smiling at me with a friendly light in his eyes, and I just took him for the super formal type.
“Thank you very much, I thin you're doing a great job and I’m very thankful for anyone helping keeping the empire peaceful” I said with a bright smile.
“That goes for you as well father,” I said, turning around and looking up at my father, who was smiling goofily down at me again.
Looking back at Augustus, he was smiling very proudly, before he said shortly.
“Thank you very much.”
-
I looked over at the final man. He was the youngest of the three, with no hint of grey in his hair. His hair was brown and curly, falling down to his ears. He had green eyes, a slim build and kind eyes.
He seemed like your typical aristocrat, but not the pompous ones, but rather the ones that still treats everyone around them with respect. He was wearing a bright blue, robe-like suit of clothing, which fit his lithe figure snugly.
“and I’m Philip von Louis,” he said with a friendly smile.
“I deal with events and interpersonal relationships and such,” he said, bowing exaggeratedly, making me snigger.
I bowed back with as much flourish as I could manage while sitting in my father’s lap.
“So, what are you all doing right now?” I asked, getting of my father’s lap, standing at the edge of the table instead, looking down at the different papers and reports.
-
In my old life, I worked with reports like these, and I could see that some were charts with numbers equaling expenses and such, while other’s listed orders and information about different people and such.
-
“Nothing important, just the daily reports” my father answered.

“It’s usually quick and boring, but today it has suddenly become much easier to handle for your old father,”
He said with a smile, ruffling my hair.
I grabbed his hand away from my hair, harrumphing, before trying to flatten my hair and fix the damage he’d done.
He just laughed with a happy expression on his face, while all the advisors were hiding their sniggers and smiles in their palms.
Maja is of course a genius in the aspect of making my hair look amazing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she’d be happy at the thought of doing it again, but I’m not a child.
Roseanne was seventeen, and though I've been acting very childish, it’s still embarrassing.
but since he’s been unable to spoil her for such a long time because of her sickness, I’ll allow it.
-
My father ended up making someone fetch a chair for me, and they chose well, picking one with soft, plush pillows.
-
While my father, Frederick, August and Philip were talking about all kinds of serious stuff, I was sitting in the background, just enjoying watching someone else working, while myself lazing about.
I got up from my chair, and pushed it completely seat to seat with my father’s chair, before sitting down again and leaning my head against his side.
It was the perfect relaxing position, though I ruined the mobility of his right hand, forcing him to pick up stuff with his left hand instead.
I sniggered to myself, though he seemed more than happy to sacrifice his right arm for my comfort.
Is this what it feels like to have a father?
Feeling a yawn coming up, I covered my mouth with my hand, but in the middle of the yawn, I hiccupped as one often does while yawning, but I could feel some wetness in my hand,
I figured it was probably a glob of snot, and tried to discretely wipe it on the edges of my sleeves, though looking down at them afterwards, they had become completely red with blood again.
-
“Oh shit,” I thought to myself.
-
All the three advisors looked at me with shocked and worried expressions on their faces, while my father became suddenly a fulrry of activity.
“It’s nothin-“ I tried speaking but nobody could hear me over my father’s orders.
“Guards, quickly get the royal physician and tell him to go to Roseanne’s room. I’ll quickly carry her up.”
He took me in his arms and said softly.
“You’ll be okay, don’t worry,” he said softly.
“Father, I’m fine, stop this,” I tried telling him with all my authority, but he just smiled softly down at me again, carrying me back to my room.
There were guard walking around us, and I could see both the advisors and Maja had worried expressions on their faces, while walking behind us.
-
After the royal physician was done telling everyone that “I was still ill,” and that I should “get as much rest as possible,” my father hugged me tightly and saying all kinds of sweet stuff, before going back on duty.
Maja tucked me snugly into the bed, before kissing me on my forehead.
-
My brothers and mother also came to visit, and I spent the rest of the day sitting in bed, reading books, eating sweets, and listening to them telling me fun stories.
-
I feel asleep feeling snug and loved, with my belly filled with sweets.
A perfect day, spending time with my father, and getting spoiled out of my mind!
Though one of these days I reallyhave to clear up this misunderstanding.
