The year was 2158 AD— A certain acronym had taken the world by storm, swiftly and unexpectedly. VRMMORPG, otherwise known as [Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game]. There were hundreds of game genres across the wide market, however none could fully grasp the strength and potential of VRMMORPG’s.

Fierce competition throughout the VR market as several games that called their selves “MMORPGs” came and went. However, in the year 2144 AD, a game took hold the VR market, holding it by the neck and balls.

[Envisioned Fantasy]—

It was a game that was head above shoulders of the other competitors. Made by an international Indie game developer group. It completely took, if not, shook the entire world. It made full use of the capabilities of VR-Capsule that was within the homes of many consumers.

The VR-Capsule was a complex and intricate system that used an intracerebral connector system. Thus, if used and programmed correctly, may be able to make the user feel all five human senses in a virtual, fantasy world. However, it came with the price of only being ‘barely sensible’, having all five human senses was an achievement, however technology could only reach so far.

Envisioned Fantasy’s developers took this to heart and was able to make their game slightly more compatible with the VR-capsule. However, this wasn’t exactly what ENVISIONED FANTASY had to offer as [FPS games] had already done the same years earlier. (Stimulating Gunshot and knife wounds as if it actually happened)

What Envisioned Fantasy offered to the masses of consumers, that many of their competitors was unable to do— Player and Creative Freedom. MMORPGs often had a strict regulation to control its playerbase to make sure the flow of the story and content was followed.

However, Envisioned Fantasy didn’t follow this and went the opposite. ENVISIONED FANTASY offered their players Freedom to several machinations, to make a story of their own. Of course, there was a storyline in ENVISIONED FANTASY but it wasn’t important whatsoever to the game apart from storytelling and lore enthusiasts.

Envisioned Fantasy was a game of Adventure, what many of its Developers advertised it as. A vast playing field awaited the players, larger than what they’ve ever imagined. An in-game market the gave the Users the ability of customization of their avatar and belongings. Not forgetting the main flavor of MMORPG’s, was the several possible jobs and race one chooses from.

Coupled it with the fact, that Envisioned Fantasy had an abundant if not infinite amount of content that the User theirselves must discover. Thus, rendering the storyline slightly useless, as more secret content was placed within the millions of individual discoveries the users could make.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Earth finally had illuminated itself with life once more in the bleak current.

—However, that was a thing of the past.

***

Inside a darkened throne room, seated on an intimidating smoothened obsidian throne. Was one of Envisioned Fantasy most revered players, possessing the epithet granted to him by players, he was called the [Demon Lord of Blitzing], Blitz.

His name was given to him due to his feared “10-Minute raids” of NPC bosses within the world of Envisioned Fantasy. From a World Boss, Regional Boss, Area Boss, Guardians, he maximized efficiency and results.

However, while he was revered as the quickest PVE’r, his reputation as a PVP’er wasn’t much. Considering that while his Guild, the [Corvus Guild] was among the top 10 guilds. He, as a player, wasn’t among the top ranked players of Envisioned Fantasy.

“A history forgotten…” Blitz solemnly muttered as he sat on his throne, his head resting on his palm, “To think it’d be ending like this.”

His voice and mannerisms were justified— It had been 15 years since Envisioned Fantasy was released. In its later years, many players had become old and its former flavor— lost. As a result, its executives had already started the complete shutting down of the game’s server.

Blitz changed his posture and rested his back sloppily on his throne’s backrest. It was considerably smooth, although slightly uncomfortable given his posture— nonetheless, it was a pleasant feeling. To think that a game that had such devotion from its original developers, would die as a husk— it was a sour taste in the mouth.

Not only to Blitz but many of the last players who had logged on and started to give their farewells to their online friends and guilds. Friends and associates that they had built throughout the decade. Something that was very much impossible in reality.

“For 15 years I’ve played this game.” He muttered as he clasped and rested his hands on his lap, staring at the grandeur gothic castle he created with the help of an actual architect and engineer (Obviously Paid), “Countless hours and Thousands of dollars, When I got of work, overtime or not, I would always hop on then grind and grind, do side quests, gather materials, accept duel requests, till I was tired.”

His hands trembled in frustration and he tried stopping a real-life tear from forming on his eyes. He didn’t want to damage his VR-Headset, much so to be quickly kicked out of the game. As a player who had pre-ordered and stayed loyal the game, he wanted to savor whatever it had left.

Being a Plant Manager of a globally-renowned company, Blitz practically had decent wealth to use at the expense of time. Still, time wasn’t a problem for him, he would always just go for an all-nighter or subsequently request for sick leave. He was a successful plant manager, demands were always met, quality remained appropriate, workers productive— he deserved the time he used in his fantasy world.

He looked at his interface, and gazed directly at the time, it was 11:43:04, and the seconds just continued to go. His breathing was controlled and he was already prepared to go out. However, he simply didn’t want to be kicked out as he sat on his untouchable throne.

“Ferdienant!” He yelled whilst simultaneously standing up from his throne.

Immediately, an aged man dressed in a butler attire rushed towards him from the entrance, his hair was slick and while he was rather aged, his appearance was not to be questioned. Upon arriving at the base of the steps to the throne, he respectfully knelt and lowered his head in deep respect.

Ah… Such graceful animation… $50— fucking cash grab corporates.

Dressed in intimidating attire, befitting a demon lord, one feared throughout the lands. He slowly descended down the steps to his throne. His very much armored body, covered in a dark scholarly cloak, soon stood right in front of the kneeling butler.

Being an NPC creation of Blitz, he didn’t much for a voice. Like most NPC creations made by players within their guilds. Their NPC creations were mute unlike their game-made NPC counterparts, which had voice actors.

However, unlike their Official Game-made counterparts which were built and designed for balance. Player-made NPC’s were armed to the teeth, sometimes even overpowered and game breaking, depending on how you build them and balance their stats, they can be severely overpowered to the point that it can be considered breaking the game.

“Ferdienant, As Grand Chamberlain of the Tomb of Hadeost, you have full command of this lair whenever I have yet to make an appearance.”

There was no reply except for a simple nod of the head.

“However, my orders are still absolute. All Guardians and NPC’s are to not leave the Tomb at all times. They are to maintain their network of Defense. If the Tomb is exposed to threats, you are to make sure that it must be as obscure as possible.”

Again, no vocal response except for a nod.

“And… Tell this to my creations, my daughters and sons.”

Blitz knelt on one leg, but even then, his height was still considerably large. He then proceeded to extend his hand towards Ferdienant’s shoulder, however he couldn’t actually touch him. Like there was a wall that blocked his hand to meet his creation. However, this didn’t stop him, he continued to speak as if he genuinely grasped Ferdienant’s shoulder.

“Tell them, their Creator loves them to the deepest of his heart. He would like to give his gratitude for their continuing Loyalty and Devotion. Along with their resolute decision to remain by his side in the face of unbeatable challenges.”

Again, no response but a nod.

As such, Blitz stood up and commanded Ferdienant to “Stand, give the order to the guardians and servants, after that, appear back here and remained fixed to your position. Additionally, inform them that I have departed in search of something important. Tell them to pay no anxiety, For I shall return— I always return.”

Immediately, Ferdienant stood up and swiftly left the room to do so the order given to him by his master and creator.

Finally being left alone, Blitz looked at the ceiling of his throne room, admiring the obsidian chandeliers that held numerous magic crystals that illuminated the vast chamber. He then raised his hand and saw with his eyes his armored body.

He currently wore, under his thick set of jet-black armor made of precious metals, was the [Ring of Hadeost]. It was an item that allowed its wearer to transport anywhere within the known locations of the Tomb of Hadeost. The Headquarters of the lone Corvus Guild.

“[Teleport to Surface]!”

Immediately, Blitz was covered in a bright red glow, and small particles soon brook off from the glow, which then proceeded to move like one with the wind. The particles passed through the numerous floors of Hadeost, before finally reaching the surface, in other words, the entrance of his guildbase.

He was then greeted by the unsightly trees on the surface. The trees, while they possess several hundred of leaves upon its branches, mostly dead. It also possessed a seemingly alarming face carved upon its bark. It was a form of barrier that he had made to deter intruders, the problem was, while it was successful in concealing the guild’s entrance— it wasn’t exactly part of the guild Headquarters’ domain. In other words, it needed to be repaired manually unlike the usual [Pay to Repair everything] mechanic.

“Ah… it had already been 3 years since the last Guild war occurred, I suppose I don’t have any more need for that apart from unsuspecting players getting wrecked upon entrance.”

Blitz turned around, he was calm to see that the entrance had remained the same. Resembling a slightly large mound with a majestic set of doors protecting its insides. He had designed it in a manner that resembled the entrance of the Greek underworld— paying homage to his tomb of Hadeost that he may or may not have stolen from one of the most chill dudes in Greek mythology.

On the sides of the mound where two statues that resembled a tall knight with horns upon its helmet. They were differently armed, one held a battle axe, while one armed with a sword. If memory had served him right, they were respectively around level 90.

The entrance is protected by level 90 statues that move once an intruder appears at a given radius. Goddamn, then the guardians’ levels are past level 100. I invested so much money on data crystals, perks, and passes just to make a perfect guildbase. Then the entrance was just a mound.

Blitz scratched his head as he gave a chuckle. He couldn’t even deny that he was a straight-up tryhard than a role-player. Having taken up effectiveness and efficiency as his main designs at the expense of roleplay or ambience.

Well— either way, it’s not like anything is about to happen… the games ending, that’s a fact.

“[Fly]”

Casting a spell, Blitz’s body slowly floated from the ground and like a feather began nearing the darkened sky. He rose upwards in a straight manner, gaining speed as he did. He possessed a magic item that allowed him to use [Fly] without exhausting his mana reserves, but he’d rather use is own abilities.

Soon, by the time he looked down, he had noticed that he had already reached several hundred meters from the ground. The vast forest that hid the Tomb of Hadeost soon did what it was intended to do and hid the guild, even from Blitz.

He could still feel a faint thread wrapping around his body, which was the thread that connected him with the Tomb of Hadeos and him— thus allowing him to return either through travel or teleportation.

“Hmm…” The faint gust of air blew through the cracks of his armor, it was surreal, “I like this…”

He gazed back down to his interface, the time was 11:51: 49. He needed to be quick, but he just couldn’t move, he wanted to savor it and he intended to keep his word.

The feeling of flying above the clouds was something that Blitz’s barely used. There were several reasons but the primary was that he could always use [Gate] or [Teleport] and that there was a height restriction to [Fly]. From a practical viewpoint, [Fly] was only good for the ranged classes as the [Fly] spell continuously took up mana, thus rendering it to a mage an unnecessary usage.

“But my MP had passed the limit. This in itself is an achievement given that only very few players did so.”

Soon, he started moving with the wind, gliding through the sky in his armor. He could very much see the moon that exuded a bright blueish color that illuminated the night sky. The millions of stars occupying each of their own domains in the vast starry night.

From the ground, the vast millions of leaves across the vast forest ruffled as the gentle breeze. Their crisp sounds were pleasing to the ears. Around a minute or so, Blitz finally reached his destination. It was a portion of the forest that was heavily bogged down in a swamp.

Monsters would normally appear during this time, but somehow, it was as quiet as a cemetery. Since there was no form of opposition, Blitz landed slowly to the ground. The rather soft and wet ground met with his armored boots, rather slanting his balance.

“What time is it?” He looked down and muttered, “11:58 PM. 2 minutes till D-day”

Looking towards the sky from the visor of his helmet, he raised his hand. Its jet-black surface shining rather brightly as it reflected the light of the moon. In that moment, he shouted.

“[Absolute Chaos]”

A large dark-red magic circle formed atop the palm of his hand, from its size it almost seemed like it covered around a radius of 15 meters. Normally the casting time for [Absolute Chaos] was around 2 minutes, but he didn’t have any time for that.

“Use [Cast Time Breaker]”

As he said that, a sound of an item breaking echoed within his ears. Then, without warning, the once dark-red magic circle slowly began turning pitch black, particles appeared as if it was a black hole accompanied by deadly black lightning bolts. Finally, a number of more magic circles appeared and interweaved theirselves with the 25-meter magic circle on his feet.

The last Hurrah of yours Truly— Blitz

The magic was released and a ball of darkness, accompanied by lightning bolts slowly ascended to the sky. Then, as if subconsciously controlling it, it erupted with a deafening blow, before a number of dark particles exited.

The dark particles soon formed a web of an intricate symbol which then simultaneously exploded. The dark particles, however, much to what many would expect, didn’t release anything that was synonymous to them. Instead, it erupted and released distinctive elements from the simple [Fire Element] to the catastrophic [Chaos Element]. It was a form of an AoE attack— a deadly one at that.

Like fireworks, they exploded simultaneously and with elegance. The sight was beautiful, very so beautiful as it was the last magic, he could ever cast with passion burning through his veins.

He gazed down again to look at his interface, it was 11:59: 41.

Nodding his head and accepting his fate. Blitz stared back to the sky, where his magic remained, continuously exploding and releasing the numerous elements into the night sky.

However— He spotted something rather strange amongst the elements that continued to barrage the sky.

A bright light was being released from his magic, he could assume it was [Holy Magic] but there was something wrong. He could cast [Holy Magic] but only that of the spell variants of healing. He didn’t know any more [Holy Magic] apart from healing.

“W-what the?!”

Like a monster that was untouchable, the blinding light covered Blitz’s vision. Many would’ve left the game due to this malfunction, but Blitz remained. He remained fixed in his position as his vision was covered in the blinding light.

I’m going to become blind! Just force kick me! Fucking Developers!

He didn’t know whether it was a glitch or a more majestic type of ‘Forced Log out’.

But— he didn’t want to leave the game, for the game was what gave him life in the past and present.
