"I need all blue mages on the far back, all red mages in front, all Black mages in front of red mages, and all Golden mages to take separate positions along the border walls!"
The teacher, also known as Takami was instructing the Magic academies mages.
All the mages in Mesnil nation would risk their lives in the war.
The Mesnil Nation is one of the largest nation known inside of Midgard, mostly known for the Academy of Magic which recruits those who wants to be mages inside their ranks. As of now the academy is divided in separate ranks of mages, the first being Blue, Second Red, third Black, and last is Gold. These ranks all are chosen from their magical power level and expertise control over their own mana, and thus become soldiers inside Mesnil nation, fighting in war against the other nation, known as the Dark Nation. Depending on mage rank, they gain plenty of popularity and are known throughout Mesnil nation, and are mostly rich inside Mesnil from the amount they get paid from missions.
"Bahahaha! Nothing will stop my power! Even some dark mages from the dark nation stands no chance against me!"
The one who spoke out loud was Edward, known to be in the Rozenheart family… and one of Elizabeth's brother that scolded her in leaving the magic academy and return the ring to the family that she's stolen.
"Yes, nothing is greater than you Sir Edward! In less than a month you jumped from black rank up to gold."
One of Edward "followers" complimented him.
"Fumu. Of course I did! It's simply the bloodline of the Rozenheart! We're known for our growth and conquering of many countries."
Edward would slick his hair back with his palm, elegantly flicking his hand to the side.
"Stand back my fellow men. I, Edward Rozenheart will show you the greatest spell known inside of Mesnil!"
Takami was sighing to herself, and looked ahead of her for the dark army's arrival.
Meanwhile behind her was an entire blockade of mages who were protecting the border walls into Mesnil country.
"They're arriving… I can feel them."
One of the red mages had said.
"I-I can feel them too… their mana… I-it's… scary."
Some terrified blue mage had said, causing her to feel nauseous inside her stomach.
"It seems that they're passively releasing an Dark miasma."
Takami had noted to herself, proceeding to have her eyes light up in Crystal Blue, similar to what she's done in the Magic Academy trials.
"With my Kyokogen I should be able to see their magical power levels… let's see."
Takami was part of the Kyoko clan; a group of individuals who lived in the east side of the earth, specifically known for their beautiful and crystal blue eyes. One would kill for their eyes as it's able to tell one's magical power level, see miles away, and passively nullify magical spells from absorbing their mana.
"All of you get ready, they're coming into view!"
She seemed a bit worried in her tone of voice. Once she seen the dark mages magical levels of power, they were all equal to that of black mages… And it proved troublesome.
"There's over ten thousand of them… but why? Do they underestimate us that much?"
Takami whispered to herself, proceeding to stare back at the large horde of mages behind her.
"There's more than one-hundred thousand mages here. With that many mages it's enough to empower an entire country of machines."
Every single mage inside of magic academy all cowered in their boots, however the black and golden mages seemed to be more prepared than anyone.
"I-I can't do this… I wanna go home!"
Some frail and short girl closed her eyes, and nearly fell to her knees from fear.
"Someone send me home please!"
However as she said those words of defeat, another young boy beside her would offer up his hand.
"Don't worry, I'll be here to protect you… don't think about dying, I'll make sure you'll stay alive until the end."
The frail girl looked up at him… reaching out her arm to grab his hand.
"You mean it?"
She asked, which he nodded to.
"Yes. I can promise you."
She smiled with tears running down her face, now standing back up sniffling.
"Thank you. What's your name?"
He blushed from her question.
"I'm in your class actually… my name is Tokomodo. It's nice to meet you."
She tilted her head to the side with a bright smile.
"Well Tokomodo… my name is Samantha. It's nice to meet you too!"
He turned away from her large smile, unable to help himself but only blush.
"Hey Samantha… after this war is over, do you wanna come with me to the Mage museum? I heard that they have legendary artifacts that I always wanted to check out."
He turned to face her and see her reaction.

"Also—"
He was cut off as his eyes widened. In front of him was Samantha… however she was missing her entire head.
He couldn't respond to what just happened, only shocked to see her blood splatter in his face, and her brains to splatter onto the other students behind her.
"Saman-tha…?"
He watched as her lifeless body fell backwards, landing onto some other red mage.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
The body landed onto another female mage which caused her to scream, gaining others attention.
"OH MY GOD… OH MY GOD!!!"
Everyone looked to see the dead student on the ground, sending the entire red mage rank into panic. To make matters worse… it even happened to Tokomodo.
"Damnit… how? How did two of the students die? They didn't even start attacking us yet?— wait!"
Takami was talking to herself as her eyes suddenly lit up in fear.
"The miasma they're releasing is spreading this far, and it's causing the students to smell it. There must be a reason to why it's spreading this far, right?"
She asked herself.
"Teacher what should we do? Should we engage in battle yet?"
One of the golden mages asked Takami, worried about the situation.
"Just a moment."
Takami replied.
"That's it! The dark nation is a group of dark mages… that means that they represent the opposite of love and happiness. It must be the cause of what killed Samantha. After all, I heard her get happy around Tokomodo when he offered to protect her. And for Tokomodo he always loved her in class. Damnit..."
She closed her eyes as sweat beads rolled down her face.
"That means the mages cannot experience happiness or love around this miasma, or it'll trigger something and kill the weaker mages."
She turned around to face the fighters behind her.
"Listen up! Everyone in red and blue ranks, do not feel happiness or love in this war! The dark mages releases an toxic miasma that causes those of happy and loving emotions to die. I have no idea how it kills you… but it explodes your head. As you can see with Samantha and Tokomodo…"
Takami closed her eyes in regret.
"I wish I would've found out sooner. Perhaps we should've casted an magic null barrier in the beginning. Her death is on my hands… and I will pay greatly for it. But that'll happen after the war!"
The students all looked at Takami while they were still shaken up, but they understood the objective.
"Now then, let us prepare for battle!"
"YES!"
The Black and Gold mages shouted in sync.
"Here they come…"
Edward said with a smile.
The sound of marching men could be heard, and the flapping of wings in the sky. The entire dark army had stopped, only standing fifty meters away from the Mesnil borders.
"It seems one of your mages managed to die before we even begun our battle. How truly weak."
An knight wearing all black armor with pointy shoulder-pads on the torso, and riding a horse covered in black metal plating had spoke in an deep tone. He seemed to be the leader of this army.
"My name is Nokitera, the Commander of the Dark nation. I have come to defeat the Academy of Magic once and for all, and claim Mesnil country as our own."
The dark mages behind Nokitera all wore black robes with half of their faces covered in a black mask to hide identity.
"You take back your words Nokitera. My students are not weak, and you will not take over the nation of Mesnil!"
Takami was enraged, balling up her fist as she took a short sword out from its sheathe.
"Ahh I see. You must be the famous magician from the Kyoko clan. What is your name again? Takami, right?"
Nokitera asked in his sinister voice.
"Yes, that is my name. Remember it well, as I'll be the one to decapitate you into two!"
Nokitera scoffed at her which caused his horse to neigh, and stand up on its two legs in the back.
"Hahaha! You'll take my head will you? I suppose we'll have to see about that won't we? Let's put that Kyokogen of yours to the test against my Dark magic!"
