Chapter 35: Beginning of War

"ALL MAGES, FIRE YOUR STRONGEST ATTACKS!!!"

Takami had ordered every single mage behind her, and they all listened without hesitation.

"EVERYONE LETS ATTACK THEM WITH YOUR STRONGEST FIRE MAGIC SPELL!"

Up ahead was one of the Golden mages, and a great leader. It wasn't Edward but rather Komodo; he was an young man with long platinum-blonde hair down his back, pale skin, and looks that could mistake him for a beautiful woman. He lead the mages of all kinds, blue, red, black, and Gold to follow his lead. Not to mention he was very popular among the Gold ranks of mages.

"FIRE MAGIC: FIREBALL!"

One of the red mages shouted as they held their arms forward and casted an magical circle in front of their palms, launching an massive ball of fire.

"Let's follow Komodo's lead everyone!"

The Red mages all used their strongest fire spell which was [Fireball], an Rank 5 spell.

"...Haaaaaaa...!"

The Blue mages followed behind the Red mages and decided to use their strongest fire spell which was [Hellstorm], an Rank 3 spell.

Hellstorm was launched into the sky as an ball of fire before raining multiple fireballs down at the dark army, however they were small and didn't pack much of an punch like the fireball spell.

"Keep them busy! Don't let up!"

Komodo shouted.

"D-Do we have an Shield Mage on standby?"

One of the Black mages had asked while launching fireball spells at the dark army.

"We do! Just in case something bad happens we have multiple shield mages on standby."

Another Black mage replied.

"Heh. So this is everyone's strongest attack is it?"

Nokitera asked.

"If this is all you have to offer, then you all are in for a helluva ride! DARK MAGES, RELEASE YOUR MOST POWERFUL DARK SPELLS!"

The entire legion of mages were all shocked to see that none of their spells were doing anything to the dark mages.

"W-Wait... they're just standing there? Our attacks have no effect?!"

An Gold mage had said.

"Th-That's not possible... we should at least be doing something!"

Another golden mage had said, having a bit of worry in his tone.

"Alright then, let's switch up our magic type!"

Komodo would say, holding his metal staff into the air. At the tip of the metal staff was an glowing Diamond that had mana rapidly growing inside of it. 

"That mage right there, kill him!"

Nokitera told his army to specifically kill Komodo before he went with his plan.

"YOU ARE FIGHTING ME NOKITERA!"

Takami shouted before accelerating herself towards Nokitera with her short sword.

"So you finally decided to attack me, have you? BRING IT ON YOU WORTHLESS KYOKO!"

"HAAAAAAA!!!"

Takami leapt into the air and slashed vertically down at Nokitera. The Dark commander would counter with his own attack, having to raise his large halberd in his hand, swinging it at her hip, however he missed.

"Huh? An afterimage-"

"TEE~YAH!"

Takami ended up behind him from her sheer speed alone, launching an wave of mana from her hands, and sending Nokitera off his horse, and him flying away from the battlefield.

"Woaaaah Misses Takami is incredible..."

One of the red mages said.

"Don't call her misses! Respect her and refer to her as Commander Takami in the war."

Another Red mage responded.

"O-Oh right... sorry!"

Nokitera recovered by skidding his feet into the dirt and jabbing the handle of his halberd into the ground as well. His momentum slowed down and he came to an stop.

"Damn Bitch."

He stood back up and could see Takami blitz right in front of him, holding her blade above her head.

"I GOT YOU NOKITERA!"

"NO YOU DONT!"

The two Commanders closed, and Takami cut at Nokitera. Nokitera parried, but Takami simply mutated the cut into a thrust.

"...Ha!"

As she shouted in prevail, Nokitera dodged and kicked her right into the gut, launching her up into the air like a rag-doll.

"GUOH!"

Takami spat blood and her eyes widened. Her body flung around in the air, unable to get her sense of direction.

"MISERABLE! MISERABLY WEAK!"

Nokitera had shouted, proceeding to jump into the air and axe kick her back down.

"—GUH!"

Takami was unable to counterattack. Her body flew back towards the ground and constructed a large crater underneath her.

"You are no match for me!"

The Dark commander dove down with his halberd risen above his head with both hands.

"This is where you die Takami!"

Takami was unable to get clear view of the dark commander above her, as her vision grew blurry.

Meanwhile back in the war between Mesnil mages and the Dark Mages, Komodo proceeded to call to another world.

"I call to the Elves... give me your power and strength, Elf King Fhiron, and the World Trees of Lothlórien! Summon protection upon my people and give us hope to winning this war!"

The tip of his staff begun to glow in a brilliant gold light that blinded the dark mages and even nullified their spells before they could cast them.

"Our spells...? We didn't get a chance to release them?"

One of the dark mages said, while looking down at their palms in disbelief.

"This is the light of the elves! Heavenly Fall!"

Komodo finally casted the spell which created an enormous magical circle in the sky and above every single mage in Mesnil.

"Heavenly fall nullifies any dark magic, and gives light magic to the ones I consider ally's!"

Komodo now pointed his staff at the dark army.

"With light magic at our disposal, your dark spells magic means nothing! Now attack everyone, show them the true power of Mesnil mages!"

The Dark army all cowered in fear, stepping back.

"THIS IS BAD!"

"RIGHT!" (All)

Every single mage shouted in prevail, now using the light magic at their disposal.

Many mages launched torrents of light waves into the sky that rained upon the dark mages, even condensed balls of light would fall down and explode upon the horde of them all.

"T-These Mages had light magic as a trump card? Heh... too bad for them."

One of the dark mages had snickered to realize something.

"W-We're doing it! Komodo is the best golden mage there is!"

One of the girls in the Black rank division said with praise... however soon after she said those words of praise, her head was missing.

"HUH?"

One of the mages next to the girl could see her entire head explode... and then his would soon explode after.

"AAHHH!!"

Another mage shouted to see their friends head exploding next to him. Dozens to hundreds of mages began to fall and die; it was clear to what was happening, at least to Komodo.

"Everyone...? What's happening? Wait—"

His eyes widened.

"Everyone, don't feel the emotions of happiness and love. Remember what Commander Takami had said! We can't experience those emotions in the presence of Dark Mages."

They all realized their mistake and sweated nervously.

"That's right... I totally forgot..."

One of the black mages had said, bowing their head down with tears forming in their eyes.

"I lost my best friend... no... Judy...!"

The female Red mage de-casted her magical circle and fell to her knees crying.

"...WAAAAAA! JUDY! NOOOOO!!!"

She cried over her dead friend and picked their lifeless body up, hugging it.

"...PLEASE NO JUDY!"

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GET UP!"

One of the red mages had said, but then another one fell to their knees crying... and then another, and another.

"I can't do this anymore... I lost my brother..."

An blue mage had said.

"I-I lost my sister..."

They all were losing their loved ones left to right. The entire formation started to lose their position, and focus.

"HAHAHAHAHA! LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE LOSING THEIR WILLS TO CONTINUE!"

One of the dark mages had shouted.

"WHAT WEAK AND PATHETIC MAGES! YOUR EMOTIONS ARE YOUR DOWNFALLS!"

Komodo gritted his teeth, as sweat beads trailed down his face.

"Cmon guys... we have to win this war...!"

Edward walked up to Komodo and smugly glanced at him.

"It seems your little plan had failed Komodo, what should we do now? Perhaps me ordering them around is best."

Komodo frowned at Edward, still showing bits of nervousness.

"Edward, we have no time for your smug attitude. Definitely in a War that decides the fate of our very country!"

"Oh? Bahahahaha! You think I care about this country? I'm only here to become famous, and make my father happy. After I'm done gaining enough fame, I'll move to the next nation and join their faction, even if it's the dark nation. I'm simply here to make history of my name!"

Komodo would grab Edward by the collar.

"You traitor! How dare you say those words Edward? Have you no shame? Have you no morality?"

Edward's smug look seemed to grow even wider than before.

"My goals are simply beyond your understanding. I'm a Rozenheart and you're just some talented pretty boy that has the skill and potential of a leader."

Edward shrugged.

"Even with all that skill, an Rozenheart naturally has the talent to grow over someone like you in a very short time."

Komodo would release Edward's collar.

"Fine then... take the leader role, I'll make sure to bring everyone's willpower back and make our formation perfect again. Don't fail me Edward!"
