Chapter 73: Grimhild Vs Merlin

Grimhild and Merlin stared each other down as they waited for someone to make an move. Grimhild smirked as Merlin frowned, two different emotions to show who had the most confidence in their abilities.

"You seem angry Merlin, could you be annoyed at me? Or worried for your safety." (Grimhild)

"What's with the smug talk? You changed a lot haven't you? Last time I knew you master, you were emotionless like an empty shell!" (Merlin)

Grimhild titled her hat over her eyes and scoffed at her comment.

"A lot has changed Merlin, I've made friends and learned the meaning of love… you may not believe me but I don't care if you do or not." (Grimhild)

Grimhild pointed nightingale at Siegfried, casting an magical circle underneath him.

"Healing Magic: Mending Causality!" (Grimhild) 

Cause and effect were being tampered with as Grimhild healed Siegfried from his wounds. Mending causality was a Rank 10 spell, being the highest known spell in the healing category of magic.

"Siegfried you have your destiny to fulfill don't you? Go and slay Jörmungandr, I'll hold off Merlin from here." (Grimhild)

"….Aye, thank you for your help Golden Mage." (Siegfried)

Grimhild glanced at Siegfried with her soulless eyes.

"My name is Grimhild Yorgana, please remember it well slayer of dragons." (Grimhild)

"…Grimhild Yorgana? Not many know of that last name unless they researched deep into their history. The Yorgana family has said to have birthed an witch… could it be that you're… her?" (Siegfried)

Grimhild focused back on Merlin who was still frowning.

Merlin held out her hand and casted an magical circle in front of her.

"Enough of the talk, I won't let you humiliate me here Grimhild. We'll settle this with an battle to the death!" (Merlin)

Grimhild held out her hand as well, casting her own magical circle.

"Oh? I see you know of dimensional magic don't you?" (Grimhild)

Merlin risen her eyebrows in shock.

"How do you know that I'm using dimensional magic…? Impossible, you could tell just from a glance?" (Merlin)

Grimhild had a smug look on her face, pouring more of her mana into the magical circle in front of her.

"It's your magical formula, the spell fragments are all made up of dimensional magic. Spell fragments is the very thing that makes up magical spells; Separate spell categories are what makes up of their own spell fragments, such as gravity magic being made of gravity spell fragments, and fire magic being made of fire spell fragments, and your dimensional magic being made of dimensional spell fragments." (Grimhild)

Merlin gritted her teeth together.

"I know what spell fragments are, but it takes an master magician to even tamper with them, or read them. There's countless spell fragments in just one Rank 1 spell, let alone you being able to read the amount of spell fragments inside my dimensional magic. How absurd… you truly do live up to your name as a genius." (Merlin)

Merlin cackled at the end of her sentence.

"But it doesn't matter, YOU WONT ACHIEVE MY MAGIC!" (Merlin)

She thrusted her palm into the magical circle, launching dozens of Three-Dimensional cubes.

"Dimensional Magic:  ELEVENTH DIMENSIONAL RAIN!" (Merlin)

The three-dimensional cubes that launched at Grimhild were all 11th dimensional constructs condensed into attacks, meant to deal heavy blow against any enemy who didn't have the power to destroy them.

Grimhild stood there with the same smile on her face until the cubes all clashed into her body, causing an massive explosion of higher dimensional energy.

"...GRIMHILD!" (Siegfried)

"….Dimensional Magic: Twelfth Dimensional Rain!" (Grimhild)

Inside the cloud of smoke Grimhild shouted her attack, launching the same magic that Merlin could use, but a superior version of it.

"How did you… learn my Dimensional magic? IMPOSSIBLE!" (Merlin)

Merlin casted an Dimensional barrier in front of her blocking the dozen of cubes launched her way.

"…..Haaaaaa!!!" (Grimhild)

Grimhild appeared behind her, punching Merlin right into her cheek, and breaking through her barrier like knife through butter. Her hand was surrounded in higher dimensional energy, as it was enough to do such a feat.

"….NGH… AAAAH!!!" (Merlin)

Merlin flew backwards until she backflipped midair, using teleportation magic to vanish in front of the witch.

"I WONT FALL TO YOU!" (Merlin)

She sent a brutal right kick into the side of Grimhild's head, but she countered by blocking with her arm, and throwing a right jab into Merlin's stomach.

"….GUH! HYAAAAAH!" (Merlin)

Merlin spat out blood, but quickly recovered with a front flip midair, and sending an head-butt into the witches face.

"…Why are… two mages fighting in hand to hand combat?" (Siegfried)

Siegfried watched them battle in close combat only. Grimhild didn't even have her staff out, rather she used her legs and fists. It shocked Siegfried, causing him to only watch in awe.

"….Could it be that they're equal in magic and intelligence that they have nothing that can take each other down… so it lead to them fighting with their fists?" (Siegfried)

The slayer of dragons turned to face at the large castle that would spread out for hundreds of miles. The castle doors were big as islands. Whatever was behind those doors were dangerous, but also Siegfrieds duty to slay.

"I'm coming for you Jörmungandr!" (Siegfried)

The hero wasted no time and accelerated himself at light speeds towards their castle doors.

"SO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO FIGHT?!" (Merlin)

Merlin and Grimhild clashed fists with one another, causing their environment around them to shatter and crumble.

"I thought you were weak as a regular human, master! But it seems you can match up to me with your strength!" (Merlin)

"…Heh, that's only because I broke my first seal to have enough strength to battle you!" (Merlin)

Merlin elbowed Grimhild into the face which staggered her.

"…HA!!!" (Merlin)

Merlin spun around and roundhouse kicked the witch right into the cheek which sent Grimhild twirling around until the witch used the gained momentum as her advantage to send her leg into Merlin's head, tossing her across the magma environment.

"…Guh…" (Merlin)

Merlin slammed into the ground and dragged herself across the fiery concrete, until she stood back up to wipe blood from her lip.

"…Hahaha… HAHAHAHAHA! I haven't had this much fun in ages, master! I'm glad I can challenge someone who is equal to— huh?" (Merlin)

Merlin was cut off to see Grimhild suddenly disappear, and now appearing right in front of her, cocking her fist back.

"You're wide open!" (Grimhild)

Her fist soared through the air and knocked itself into Merlin's stomach. The initial blow was so strong that it propelled Merlin away, leaving an indent into her abdomen.

"…She's… gotten faster?" (Merlin)

Merlin could only widen her eyes in amazement, until she realized Grimhild was right above her after using teleportation magic.

"A blade?" (Merlin)

Merlin eyes widened to see Grimhild holding an sword inside her hands… she had no choice but to block it with her own weapon!

"….Fuuu!" (Merlin)

Merlin summoned forth an shield which she held up with two hands as her body finally collided into the ground after her flight.

"…Seea!" (Grimhild)

Grimhild surrounded her weapon in dimensional magic, taking Merlin off guard.

"Dimensional Magic: INFINITE SEVERANCE!" (Grimhild)

Grimhild purposely tricked Merlin by using her dimensional magic at the last second, and incorporating it around her sword to take her off guard.

"…GUUUUUUHH—! AAAAAAAHHHH!!!" (Merlin)

Merlin screamed as the Dimensional Magic exploded with higher dimensional energy, causing an massive shockwave to spread throughout the entire kingdom of Basilisk.

"…Reduced to ashes." (Grimhild)

The blade Grimhild summoned would drop onto the ground, as the aftereffects of the explosion left behind nothing of Merlin.

"That last spell was infinite dimensions incorporated into my sword, it's no chance that you survived it Merlin." (Grimhild)

The only thing remaining of Merlin was her Dual mana force. She slowly regenerated back her soul and physical body once more in front of Grimhild, until she fell to her knees, panting once she came back.

"…You tricked me… damn you… master!" (Merlin)

"I was going to kill you and make sure revival wasn't an option, but there's no need for that. Merlin, you know what you're doing… and you know why I'm here." (Merlin)

Merlin turned away grunting at her comment.

"….I know why you're here… but I have no idea how you found me." (Grimhild)

"I have my ways, there's no need to worry about it." (Grimhild)

Grimhild bent down to pick up her sword, transforming it back into her staff…?

"You used Nightingale as a sword…?" (Merlin)

"It can do wonders for me." (Grimhild)

The witch approached Merlin and looked down at her in pity.

"I told you long ago that Siegfried would save humanity by killing Jörmungandr, and yet you still attempted to kill him… even lie to him and tried using him as an experiment, purposely tampering with the three sisters of fates destiny." (Grimhild)

Merlin looked down at the ground balling her fists in defeat.

"…Master… I…." (Merlin)

"I am the witch of justice Merlin, and for your actions… you will need to pay dearly." (Grimhild)
