Chapter 253 - How is he going to live? (1)
Seeing how his shimu was stunned, Wen Rugui’s tone mellowed out.
“I will not bring this up to my teacher and I also ask shimuto drop this subject from this point forward. As for Comrade Jiao, I will have my grandfather keep an eye out for any suitable male comrade for her.”
Speechless.
Motionless.
Wordless.
Zhong Shulan didn’t even feel that bad when Wen Rugui mistaken that she had her eyes on Zhou Yan for her son-in-law.
Now that Wen Rugui was talking about having his grandfather set Yunshi up, his meaning could not have been more obvious.
Zhong Shulan turned pale and looked at him blankly.
Wen Rugui frowned when he saw that. “Are you alright, shimu?”
It took Zhong Shulan a little bit of time before she was able to recollect herself. She shook her head stiffly, “I am fine. It’s getting late. I should head home and start the cooking.”
Seeing how awful she looked, Wen Rugui walked her to the door, worried, and watched as she disappeared around the corner.
It would seem that his shimu was truly very worried about Comrade Jiao’s marriage.
Wen Rugui thought about it some, locked the door, and left.
He first placed a call to his grandfather and explained Comrade Jiao’s situation to him and had him keep an eye out for a quality male comrade.
Naturally, Old Mr. Wen had agreed to do as he was asked. After that, however, he did not forget to make fun of Wen Rugui worrying about someone else’s relationship status when he himself was still single.
Wen Rugui was already used to being teased by his grandfather.
He headed over to the dean’s office after the call and repeated the same request.
Naturally, the dean, seeing that Wen Rugui had made a special trip to mention this, figured that Wen Rugui was not interested in Jiao Yunshi. As such, he did not try to set the two up but agreed to Wen Rugui’s request.
On the other hand, Zhong Shulan walked out blankly and finally regained some mental clarity after she had walked out.

Once she had regained her mental clarity, she felt sad.
She had high hopes on the relationship between Wen Rugui and Yunshi, her daughter. Now that she had found out that Wen Rugui was not interested in Yunshi at all, it would be brazen of her to keep pushing.
She had asked Zhou Yan to talk her daughter up in front of Wen Rugui in the past and, even the very last time that she spoke with Zhou Yan, he had reassured her that there was nothing to worry about.
She thought that meant that Wen Rugui did not object to the idea, which was why she decided to pay him a visit on her own.
Welp, that was awkward!
The more she thought about it, the more her cheeks started to burn. And she also felt bad for her daughter at the same time.
Zhong Shulan did not want her husband and her daughter to see her in her current state, so she spent quite a while outside before she returned home.
Truth was, Zhou Yan was partly responsible for this as well.
After Zhong Shulan had asked him repeatedly, he did agree to help her and did broach the subject with Wen Rugui once.
Except that he kidded around so much regularly that Wen Rugui did not give that much thought and had stopped him right away.
When work at the laboratory got busy, Zhou Yan had forgotten all about it and never brought that up in front of Wen Rugui again.
When he was asked by Zhong Shulan again later on, he felt that he had already did his best and that Wen Rugui did not accept the proposition. He figured that if Wen Rugui was not interested, he would just keep an eye out for other candidates.
And that was how the misunderstanding came about.

The fruit trees from Mother Xiao came the day after Mid-Autumn festival.
Seeing that Mother Xiao came in person, Tong Xuelu felt a little bad about it and had given her the remaining mooncake.
Lo and behold, when Mother Xiao saw the mooncake, she had misunderstood that Tong Xuelu was trying to butter up to her and became alarmed.
She immediately told Tong Xuelu to give up on her crazy ideas and left with her head held high.
Tong Xuelu wasn’t sure what to make of that.
