Chapter 265 - Tong Miammian's eyes welled up. (2)
Looking at the interactions between the mother and daughter, the woman became progressively more baffled.
Mother Tong was obviously bragging about her daughter to no end earlier. So why did she look so unhappy when her daughter was finally here?
Sensing the intense look from the woman across from her, Mother Tong felt extremely uncomfortable. “I am fine. You don’t need to stay here with me. Go now. Be on your way.”
Tong Xuelu stood up and said, “Alright, then. You take care of yourself, Mom. I’ll be back again soon.”
Tong Xuelu was certainly not one to kiss up to someone who was not interested.
At this very moment, Cai Chunlan walked inside.
Cai Chunlan immediately started shouting when she saw Tong Xuelu. “Why are you here?”
Tong Xuelu, “I am here to see Mom.”
Cai Chunlan pushed her lips out some. “Bull. You are just using that as an excuse to mooch off of us, right? Is one of your brothers in trouble again and you need our help?”
Tong Xuelu had yet to start talking but the other woman couldn’t contain herself anymore. “What kind of sister-in-law does what you do? Big Sister, are you just going to let you daughter bullied by your daughter-in-law like that?”
If her own daughter-in-law would dare to treat her daughter that way, she would certainly be slapping her across the face by now.
Mother Tong’s slips parted and she said dryly, “Be quiet, Chunlan.”
Cai Chunlan instantly became more arrogant when she picked up Mother Tong’s attitude. “Mom, why are you still defending her? She is not one of us. We have already wasted all of our resources in raising her all these years. Her audacity of still trying to mooch off of us!”
The woman’s eyes rounded. “What? What? What? Is this not your sister-in-law?”
Cai Chunlan psst’d before Mother Tong could say anything. “Sister-in-law my @**. She has nothing to do with us at all. It was a mistake made by the police department back then. Things had been more than clarified since!”
The woman turned and gave Mother Tong a look. Her look even more suggestive than before.
Mother Tong had bragged so much about her real daughter and bashed her adopted daughter. That made her think that the adopted daughter was truly a horrible person.
Looking at the attitude of this family. Tsk tsk tsk. They were obviously twisting the truth.

Mother Tong’s face turned red and white and she felt like there was a big boulder sitting in her chest.
She only wished she could shove a shoe into Cai Chunlan’s mouth right now.
Tong Xuelu almost doubled up laughing.
A god-like enemy is fine; a hog-like teammate, not so much.
Cai Chunlan was doing a fine job faceslapping Mother Tong.
Right at that moment, Chen Yueling, the first sister-in-law, also arrived.
“Xuelue, you came?”
Tong Xuelu nodded. “Yeah, I learned that Mom had been hospitalized, so I thought I would come by to visit her.”
Chen Yueling recalled how Tong Xuelu’s two brothers were expelled from school a while back. The entire Fang family stepped in to help her out but nobody from the Tong family lifted a finger. She looked embarrassed.
“Oh right. You paid me an extra 20 yuan last time. I had yet to have a chance to bring that back to you. Why don’t I give that to you now?”
The truth wasn’t that she didn’t have time to. The truth was that her mother-in-law wouldn’t let her go.
Tong Xuelu quickly shook her hand. “That won’t be necessary. I had to borrow money from home when I left. Get Mom some fruits with the extra money. I need to head back to work. We will catch up later.”
She turned and walked out of the room after she had finished saying that.
Cai Chunlan’s voice came from inside the room.
“Sister-in-law, how come you never mentioned that Xuelu paid us an extra 20 yuan? Had we not run into her today, are you ever going to mention that?”
“What are you talking about, Chunlan……”
“Shut up right now, the both of you!”
Mother Tong was so upset that her chest was heaving up and down. She had never felt this embarrassed her entire life!
Aunty pushed her lips out some and turned around. She had no intention to engage with this family anymore.
