Chapter 271 -They would never look down on women again! (1)
Tong Xuelu did not write back right away. Wen Rugui had sent her 10 tickets for fabric. She needed some time to think about what to give him instead.
Clothes or shoes would not be an option, as she did not know how to make them.
Her strength is cooking.
She thought about it some and decided that she would head over to the CSMC the next day for some ingredients, so she could make him some snacks.
Tong Xuelu folded the letter back up nicely. She turned and saw Tong Mianmian sitting there, reading her children’s book.
She had no idea if Tong Mianmian really understood the book. She was staring at the book with her big eyes while twirling her two little feet.
Her little feet were fair, tender, and super soft. They were so cute that they could make one’s heart shudder.
Tong Xuelu threw herself at Mianmian and gave her a big kiss on her cheek.
The little bun seemed to have been startled. Her eyes widened, and her mouth formed into an “O”. Her deer-in-headlight look was super cute.
Tong Xuelu couldn't help but hold Mianmian in her arms and give her two more kisses.
Ever since she realized that she had transmigrated into a novel based in the 70s, she had felt that she had gotten the shorter end of the stick. Her life in modern times wasn’t bad. Why was it that she had to transmigrate in a novel to become a cannon fodder?
Now, she suddenly realized that it wasn’t all that bad transmigrated into a novel.
There was a little cutie pie like Tong Mianmian. Then, there was a big cutie pie called Wen Rugui.
How nice was that?

When Tong Xuelu went into work the next day, Meng Jingjing still looked restless and unhappy.
Tong Xuelu didn’t ask her again, since she knew that Meng Jingjing would not divulge anything.
As such, she focused her attention on Liu Dongchang.
Liu Dongchang seemed to have noticed that she was studying him. He even gave her a complacent smile on purpose.
His look made Tong Xuelu want to vomit. She couldn’t help but feel that something bad was about to go down.
Fang Jingyuan came over for lunch again that afternoon.

She couldn't help but gripe to Tong Xuelu after she was done eating. “You never have a day off. I can’t even go to visit you at your place even when I want to.”
Tong Xuelu gave her a look. “You just want me to make you free good food at my place.”
Fang Jingyuan blushed a little. “I wouldn’t go empty handed. I’ll definitely bring the ingredients with me!”
Although Fang Jingyuan might not be well versed in the art of talking, Tong Xuelu felt that she wasn’t a bad person and that she could be a friend.
She thought about it some and said, “I made some snacks today - peanut crisps and hot sauce. I can give you one serving of them. Come by tomorrow to pick them up!”
Fang Jingyuan’s eyes lit up. “Really? You are so sweet, Xuelu! I want them! I want them!”
As she spoke, she quickly pulled out money and meal tickets from her pocket and shoved them into Tong Xuelu’s hand.
Tong Xuelu meant to give those to her as a gift, but Fang Jingyuan, not wanting to take advantage of her, dropped the money on the table and ran off.
It was Meng Qingqing’s cousin who came over to pick her up again after work that day.
Tong Xuelu only left for the CSMC for her peanuts and flour after she saw that Meng Qingqing was gone.
After she arrived home, she added the peanuts into the pot to stir fry. When they were cooked, she scooped them out and crushed them with a rolling pin. She then added oil, eggs, and flour and formed the mixture into a dough.
After she had squeezed them into little balls, she rolled them out into circles and coated them with another layer of egg. She then brought them over to the Wei’s to bake them.
The Wei family had a built-in oven in their yard, so it was very convenient to make cookies and other baking goods there.
She planned to build one in their own yard when she had some free time.
She started on the hot sauce, while waiting for the peanut crisps to bake.
The red peppers that she used for the hot sauce were homegrown by the Wei’s. Her payment to them would be a bottle of her finished hot sauce.
She had washed the peppers out earlier today before she left and had them sun-dried in the backyard. By the time she finished preparing the peanuts, the red peppers were all dried.
Hot sauce was not difficult to make. All she had to do was to chop up the red pepper, add in garlic, ginger, sugar, and salt, and heat them up in a pot along with sesame oil.
She made a total of 6 bottles. Two of them for the Wei family, two for Wen Rugui, one for Fang Jingyuan, and one for her own family.
The hot sauce was hot and flavorful. It can be used for cooking and mixing with noodles. For Tong Xuelue, anything with a little bit of the hot sauce would become very delicious.
She made noodles for everyone that very night.
Aside from the Tong Family, the Wei family also loved both the peanut crisps and the hot sauce.
