Chapter 277 - "Mom." (3)

The doctor came out half an hour later and told Tong Xuelu that the opening on the back of the little boy’s head had been sewn up and the bleeding had been stopped. The little boy had a mild concussion and had yet to regain his consciousness.

Tong Xuelu went inside and took a look at the little boy. She saw the little boy laying in bed with his eyes still closed still. He looked small and pitiful.

The cops were not here yet and the little boy was still unconscious. Naturally, Tong Xuelu could not take off just yet.

She followed the nurse and went to pay for the treatment before she returned to stay with the little boy.

Half an hour later, Teacher Wang returned with the cops.

The cops took statement from Tong Xuelu.

Office Zhang asked her, “Comrade Tong, did the couple steal money from you? How much did they steal?”

Tong Xuelu shook her head. “They did not steal any money from me. They bumped into me at the time and I saw the little boy’s arm. Something felt off so I tried to stall them.”

Office Zhang raised his brows. “Why did you feel that something was off? Weren’t you worried that you’ve made a mistake?”

Tong Xuelu, “The couple was dark skinned and not very attractive. If they were truly villagers, their child would not be so fair. That was my guess at the time. Of course I could be wrong. But I would rather be wrong than let some kidnappers get away!”

This was not like the later days. Kids in villagers were not that lucky. They would have to help out with house chores at a very young age. Even if they were too young to help, they still would not hide out at home.

They would run around over the fields and mountains. They would go pick wild vegetables in the woods or catch fish in the river. All in all, there was no reason why the child would be so fair.

All in all, even if she was wrong. She would be willing to compensate the couple for her mistake.

Officer Zhang gave her an appreciative look. “You are very cautious. The couple had already admitted that they had bought the child from somewhere and was about to bring to child out of town and sell him.”

There was upstream operation as well. This seemed like a chained operation!

Tong Xuelu raised her brows. “Have you found out the identity of the child yet?”

Officer Zhang shook his head. “We have already interrogated the couple. They don’t know either. And nobody had reported a missing child just yet.”

Tong Xuelu felt that someone was off.

The child was fair and cute. It was obvious that he was no child of any one ordinary. So why didn’t his parents file a police report after he had gone missing?

The little boy regained consciousness after Tong Xuelu’s statement was finished.

His long and thick eyelashes blinked and his eyes opened slowly.

Tong Xuelu had been thinking that the child was very cute. Now that his eyes were opened, she immediately whistled to herself.

He had phoenix eyes.

If the boy was an 8 out of 10 before, his phoenix eyes now gave him the remaining 2 points.

As pretty as he was at this age, he sure would attract a lot of girls after he had grown up!

She was just about to ask the little boy whether he knew his own name but, before she could do that, the little boy stared at her, blinked, and said, “Mom.”

Tong Xuelu stumbled and almost felt on flat ground!

Boy, look carefully, will you? I am just 18 years old. It’s not possible for me to have a child your age, alright?

Tong Xuelu felt slightly offended.

Officer Zhang looked from the boy to Tong Xuelu. He lowered his head and asked the little boy, “She’s your mom?”

Hey, Office Zhang, is your head filled with water?

Tong Xuelu almost mocked him.

Luckily, the little boy looked at Tong Xuelu over and over again and finally shook his head. “No, she is not my mom.”

He was wrong. But the Big Sister in front of him looked a lot like his mom.
