A long silence followed the old man's story. He seemed lost in thought judging by the expression on his face. In the room, a constant buzzing of bugs and croaking of frogs came from outside.

It was almost six o'clock, and the sun had already set. It was cold outside, and the wind was howling. A drastic change in the weather occurred out of nowhere. On the frosted glass window, drops of water slowly trickled down.

After a few minutes of silence, one of the kids asked, "What happened after that?" Another child asked, "What was in that letter?" The girl sitting in the left corner asked, "Did an epidemic spread again after the storm?" A boy sitting behind raised his hand and asked, "Who really killed his mother?"

A lonely smile spread across the old man's face as he removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes a bit. There was a glint of sadness in his eyes that he was trying to hide, but one of the native kids named Dan noticed it.

Dan Winston, seven years old, awakened his sensory superpower last year. He can sense others' emotions to a certain degree and has very little control over them. At his present stage, he can feel others' happiness and sadness.

Dan stood up and asked, "Did Alex find the truth? And his father... Did he ever come back to meet his son?"

"Those are some very interesting questions. Maybe another time," said the old man. His eyes were on Dan. He continued, "This is as far as we go today. A storm is coming... And it seems your parents are waiting in the outer room..."

The door to the room opened. A middle-aged woman came inside. She walked over to the old man and said softly, "A storm is approaching. The kids should leave a little early today... Their parents are already here to pick them up." She left the room after saying that.

However, the children refused to leave. The story has yet to begin, and already they have too many questions. Seeing how they were refusing to leave, the old man spoke after a slight sigh, "Haaa... You remember the reward and our deal... Right?"

By mentioning the reward, he attempted to divert their attention away from the story. He knew that it would be bad for the kids if they got caught up in the storm. They might fall sick as the weather was already chilly due to winter.

The word 'reward' caught the attention of those children. They shook their heads in anticipation of getting a reward.

"My question is, whose fault tore apart Alex's family? Was it Alex's father who didn't listen to his wife and never questioned his brothers? Or was Alex's mother's indifference toward her husband's family causing this tragedy? Who was right? Who was wrong? Think carefully... You may ask your parents for help. As for the reward, the one to give me the correct answer will get a Phoenix feather..." said the old man with a sly smile.

Soon, the children left with their parents while discussing the story and questions they heard from their grandpa. Within an hour, a downpour of heavy rain and thunderclaps surrounded the entire region. The old man ate dinner a bit early.

The electricity went off with a loud bang of a thunderbolt. The middle-aged woman [Maid] lit candles around the room.

The old man was sitting near the window after finishing his dinner. He wanted to spend the rest of his time looking at the black misty environment and die in peace. The rain was way too heavy for the season. A bright stream of purple lightning struck the mountain, causing a loud bang.

"Damn, it's cold," The old man complained, even though he was clenching the thick blanket around him. He called the maid to take him to his room.

The maid took the old man into his room through dimly lit corridors. Candles were burning on the stands around the wall. Thunderclaps occasionally illuminated the darkness. The howling of the wind rattled the windows, and the sound of rain disappeared amid the crackling of lightning.

She helped the old man get up and lie on the bed. "Master Alex, here is your medicine..." she took out a bottle of pills from the drawer near the bed, took two pills, and gave it to the old man, Alex.

"Haaa..." Alex took the pills and swallowed them, as usual, without water and sighed in relief. The maid left after helping him with the blanket and putting the emergency caller button near his pillow.

Alex lay there on his bed like a stump without moving a muscle or blinking. At the moment, his attention was focused on a candle burning slowly on a wall candle stand. There were moments when the tiny flame flickered like it was being gently blown. The candle was melting and becoming shorter and shorter with each passing second, just like his decreasing life force.

Everything turned dark except for the lights from the thunderclaps that pierced through the gaps in the window coverings.

Alex threw his blanket on the floor and stood up. He walked over to the window and looked outside in the direction where he saw the vibrant purple thunderbolt strike earlier. Alex could barely see anything due to the rain and the dark, misty atmosphere.

"Where is it? Damn it! Too hazy." Alex mumbled to himself in annoyance. For some reason, his mind was stuck on that thunderbolt. There was a bit of restlessness in his mind, and he was curious.

"No, no, no... I have to go... It's... I... I need to find it," Alex mumbled. It was impossible for him to get rid of the image of the thunderbolt in his mind. He felt as if it was calling for him. The thunderbolt was calling to him. "It's calling to me... I... I... I am coming... I have to go... I will be dead anyway, but I have to see it..."

Alex searched his drawer and found a candle. He lit it and placed it on the candle stand. Then he took out his raincoat and wore it in a hurry. After that, he carefully opened the front door. He didn't want the maid to get up and stop him. He left the house with a battery-powered torch in his hand.

As a result of the heavily pouring rain and the turbulence created by the cold wind, Alex was splashed in all directions. But he could care less as he was about to die in a few hours. He made his way toward the mountain top. Even with the torch, it was extremely difficult to see anything, but he kept on walking without any sense of direction.

"I am coming..."

As he continued to climb the wretched mountain path, Alex muttered those words like a madman. Over the murky land and through the forest, he walked for hours. He was surprised at how well his body held up for an old man of his age. And he was barely out of breath.

Finally, Alex reached his destination. A vibrant violet glow was reflected in his eyes in the pitch-black surroundings. On the ground before his feet was a purple crystal sword, stuck to the ground. Lightning crackled on it with a crackling sound as black and purple sparks appeared.

The System window appeared before his eyes.

Alex could care less about the System's warning. He grabbed the hilt of the sword and tried to pull it out.

[Booom!!!] An explosion occurred. It was so loud that it nearly shook the entire region. A black and purple lightning pillar rose in the sky before disappearing in a matter of seconds.

On the ground, Alex lay unconscious. Flickers of black and purple lightning were sparking on his old
