Chapter 7: CH: 7 [DISTURBANCE]

Lucas wondered about the reason behind Alex's newspaper collection. He thought that maybe, there was a reason behind it, but the memories were all hazy. He can't remember his past.

What happened to Triss? How Alex ended up there? And the ones who tried to kill Alex, why didn't they pursue him? There are too many questions but no answers. All the clues Lucas has is that bunch of newspapers pointing him toward uncharted waters.

"Hey, System. Do you think this artifact can break my curse?" Lucas asked his System's opinion. Since the System is a unique existence and has already merged with this new world's System, Lucas thought that it might have some answers. If this island exists, he must find it at any cost. And maybe, he will find out what Alex was really after.

<There is a possibility since we have already seen countless artifacts and unexplainable places. However, it's impossible to determine that island's location. My calculations say there is an 80% chance that space and time magic is moving the island to a random location. And a 20% chance says that someone on that island is preventing the outsiders.>

"Well, better than anything we had a moment ago..." Lucas replied. He scanned the newspapers and saved the information into his System's directory. Then he burned them all.

Lucas was packing up his clothes and food for the journey. After all, he had to start from somewhere. So, he decided to head out for the nearest port. His plan is to raid the dungeons on the islands and level up. That way, he will be able to level up his skills and get some concrete information about that mysterious island.

Suddenly, there came a knock on his front door. Lucas had heard a commotion a few minutes after he entered his home. However, he hadn't paid any attention and went to bathe. And now, someone was knocking on his door.

"Who? Cough! Cough!" Lucas yelled angrily and started to cough like old Alex. He continued in his hoarse voice, "Go away. Don't disturb me..."

Lucas remembered that Alex was a rude old man who never liked or interacted with outsiders except for the children. So, Lucas decided to take advantage of it to prevent anyone from seeing his young body. He doesn't want unnecessary trouble.

[Outside]

Nicole, six superhumans, the tourists, and the natives were crowded outside.

Nicole asked around about the incident in the forest, but no one saw or heard anything. Moreover, Everyone was tired since they barely caught sleep. Last night was rough for everyone due to the heavy rainstorm. So, when it stopped, most of them fell asleep and woke up late in the morning. Then they saw the authorities blocking the routes.

Even so, Nicole asked every single one of them, and now, old man Alex is the only one remaining. So, when she knocked, she got her reply instantly. The cranky old man screamed at her.

"Why the hell are you authority people disturbing him? We told you not to disturb him since he is sick. And yet you people knocked on his door..."

"Get out of our town, you shameless people."

"Yeah... Get out of here... Without any evidence, how dare you people question us? Do you want to close our town like before?"

"What the hell? Who disturbed grandpa Alex? I warned you guys not to wake him up..."

The townsmen were very angry with Nicole and her people. They told her not to disturb Alex since he looks after their children when they work on the farm, and now, Nicole woke him up in the morning despite their warning. Now, the cranky old man will not open his door for the rest of the day.

Nicole looked at his men and shook her head. They instantly raised their weapons.

"Back off!!! If you don't want to get hurt, move back. We are just following the official protocol. We will arrest whoever tries to get in the way." said one of the officers in a threatening tone.

However, instead of backing down, the natives started to laugh. Nicole felt a sudden shiver. She is a veteran superhuman who has experienced countless battles. Just now, for a brief moment, she felt a massive killing intent directed toward her.

"Official protocol? Don't make me laugh. This mountain range belongs to us, not the Superhuman Organization. I think that's common knowledge. It's your failure that brought those smugglers to our region. So, what if someone killed them? They did you a favor. So go back to your land while we are asking politely..." an unknown voice of a man came from the crowd.

A muscular, burly man came forward. He was wearing a white tank top and black jeans. His feet were naked, and his muscles were riddled with scars. His bald head was shining under the sunlight. And there was a bushy mustache under his nose. A dark blue hue was all around his body. He looked at Nicole with a calm expression.

"My husband was killed the same way those smugglers were killed. After 20 years, I finally got a lead, and you want me to turn back???" Nicole yelled, sending out a wave of aura toward the burly man.

"I think you don't get it. Do you know why the Superhuman Organization didn't meddle with us for the last 50 years? I think you don't know... So, take my advice and go while you still can... Because if you make him any angrier than this... We might have to bury your corpses in the mountain..." said the burly man.

"Oh! Want to stop me? A mere level 60 superhuman like you? With what power?" scoffed Nicole as she raised her aura around her body, creating a massive aura surge. The entire area seemed to tremble under its pressure.

"I am level 85... Dual Wielder... Get in my way, and there won't be a corpse left to bury," said Nicole. She summoned a dark red ball of fire over her palm.

However, before Nicole could threaten them any further, the burly man vanished from her sight. Her body flew in the sky. She couldn't even react or see the one who attacked her.

[Booom!!!] The burly man appeared above her and grabbed her face. Then he slammed her on the ground.

"I guess politeness doesn't work with you arrogant people. Showing off your insignificant power like a fool... Please, allow me to show you a glimpse of true power," said the burly man. He was still grabbing Nicole by her face, pinning her to the ground.

"Enough!!! Sent her in... Only her. No one else. I don't want any blood in this town. Kill them if anyone other than her tries to enter my house," Alex's[Lucas] voice came from inside.
