Attendance at the Church of the Eminence of Sin had skyrocketed to the point that they needed to hold service twice a day. Doing so alleviated the burden of most people coming in all at once and packing the place to the point of bursting. Though it was beginning to look like they would need to move to a bigger church if their growth continued.

"Kanae, check it out!" Edina was dragging another fat satchel of gold, donated to them by this morning's parishioners. "It's gotta be another five big. If I'd known pocketing money from chumps was this easy, we should have opened a church a long time ago!"

Kanae thought it sounded very familiar to how some people operated religion in her original world. But she didn't want their church to be like that, and didn't want to be a fraud who operated a scam.

"I trust that you'll put it into the church's coffers?" Kanae asked, raising a brow at the greedy squirreling.

"Aw, come on. I can't even keep five percent of the cut?" Edina frowned.

"We have plenty enough to spend in our own coffers. This is for Arenade's sake, and you agreed to it, remember?" she reminded her.

"Oh, alright…" Edina raised a skeletal summon to carry the bag of gold and head for the adventurer's hall to put it in their coffers.

In the meantime…

Kanae glanced over her shoulders to the confessional, where a long line of eager parishioners were waiting after morning service had ended. Waiting for her.

"Sorry for the wait!" Kanae apologized to their relief.

Stepping into the claustrophobic closet that offered barely any wriggle room, Kanae shut the door and waited for the first person to enter the other side. A shuffling followed by the door being closed signaled to her that someone had entered. Between them was a wall, the top half of which was a perforated wooden slat that blurred the other person, and the bottom half had a small hole that could be opened for… less than holy reasons.

"Tell me what troubles you," Kanae said.

"Oh, priestess…" the voice of a troubled man began. "Lately, I've been growing jealous of my coworker."

"Your jealousy is normal. Oftentimes we want what we don't have that others do. There's nothing wrong with that. Something tells me that there's more that you haven't told me yet. It's okay to tell me. It's only us and the gods listening."

"I… I have been coveting his wife…" he confessed.

Kanae swallowed the urge to sigh. These confessions were a dime a dozen, among other things.

"You see, she's this bombshell of a dark elf with the biggest tits I've ever seen! I've never seen a woman exude so much lust before. I keep thinking how lucky my coworker is to fondle those incredible mounds of milkers!"

"Or how comfortable it is to lay your head between them," Kanae added as she got caught up in the moment of listening to the man's description.

"Exactly! You know just how I feel! Whew. I finally got it off my chest. Whenever I try to confess this at the other churches, they call me a pervert and think about how wrong my sin is. I don't suppose you have any advice on what I can do, priestess?" he asked.

"Before we go any further…"

Kanae opened the hole on the wall between them.

The man gulped hard. "Y-Yes, priestess!"

A few seconds of clothing shuffling later and a delicious dick emerged from the hole, standing fully erect and throbbing for release. Kanae swallowed hard with anticipation, too, gripping the shaft and slowly stroking it.

"Have you ever considered going to a brothel to express your desires? Maybe you can find an elf that looks similar to her," Kanae suggested.

"Ahh… I… I can't. The truth is… I'm also married. I don't want to betray—ooh— my wife by going to a brothel!" he exclaimed.

Kanae rolled her eyes. This guy was married and had the hots for another married woman.

They should just—

"What about swapping?" Kanae said.

"As in…"

"Swinging. Trading partners. You have sex with his wife, he gets to have sex with your wife. Everyone wins!"

"I don't know— ooh!"

Kanae wrapped his lips around the tip of the man's cock, churning the glans with her tongue. It took his breath away, but the more she sucked, the more his resistance whittled away.

"Shllrrp… shlrrp… You won't know… chuup… until you ask… shllrrp…"

"Ahh… oohh… You're right. Now that I think about it… he's secretly checked out my wife before… Thank you, priestess— aahhh!"

A load of cum spurted into Kanae's mouth, and she continued to suck him off until he went soft.

"Of course," Kanae said. "If they hesitate, maybe you should bring them to the Eminence of Sin. I'm sure I can change their minds. And don't forget— vote Mallory for mayor to make Lograin better for us all!"

"I will. Thank you so much for your guidance, priestess!" The man rushed out of the confessional.

Turning a confessional into a fuck closet was Kanae's best idea yet. Since their church embodied the aspect of sin and encouraged active sexual lifestyles, no one questioned it. Now Kanae was able to feed to her heart's content and level up if a high level adventurer came in.

She wiped the cum from her chin and said, "Next!"

Someone entered the confessional and immediately started undressing.

"Priestess, my only confession is that I want to have sex with you so much. I can't stop thinking about you!" A much larger cock, the size and shape of which must belong to a beastman squeezed through the hole.

"Is that so? Then please allow this slutty priestess to take care of your wanton desires," Kanae said as she pressed the tip against her hole.

After servicing dozens of people, Kanae opened a small slat to look out the confessional. The line was empty. She was about to leave until another person entered the other closet. Taking care of one more couldn't hurt.

"What troubles you?" Kanae asked, settling back into her seat.

"Bardell wants you to know: if Bishop Rudo loses, then the Outriders will be coming for you."

A chill raced up Kanae's spine. She exited her booth and threw open the door to the other, but no one was inside. It was empty. A quick look at the few people left around the church didn't strike Kanae as particularly suspicious.

Bardell and Bishop Rudo were getting desperate. Now wasn't the time to hesitate. Kanae refused to bow to threats.

"We have the gold. Maybe we should hire adventurers to guard the church," Kanae muttered.

"E-Excuse me?" A red-headed human woman in rags hobbled down the walkway between the pews, walking on a makeshift crutch and dragging her right foot.

By her gaunt cheeks, it looked like she hadn't eaten in days or weeks at worst. Kanae could tell beneath the dirt and grime, unkempt bangs matted on her forehead, and flea-ridden tattered clothes that she was pretty if given the chance to clean up.

"Are you alright?" Kanae asked, coming to her aid and helping her into the pew.

"I don't suppose… you have any food to spare, ma'am? I checked the Church of Many and Church of One, but… they ran out by the time I got there," she said weakly.

Kanae felt a pang of guilt, because they didn't have any food to offer. Starting a charity kitchen didn't sound like such a bad idea though, kind of like what she saw the priests at the Church of Many did.

"What's going on over here?" Arenade asked from behind.

"This woman is starving," Kanae answered. "Broken leg, too, from the looks of it."

"Scoot."

Arenade bumped Kanae by the hips and knelt down in front of the helpless woman. She hovered both hands, glowing with magic, over the twisted ankle to cast a healing spell on it.

The woman gasped.

"Y-You healed me? But I don't have any tithe to offer!" she exclaimed, seemingly ashamed and embarrassed.

"You're fine now, and we don't need your gold. Maybe you can catch some early breakfast at one of the churches with that healed," Arenade said.

"Here." Kanae pressed her pouch of gold into the woman's hands. "Get yourself cleaned up and get some food, too."

"Thank you… Thank you so much!" she wept so much that tears and snot dripped down her rags.

The woman left the crutch behind on her way out.

"That was generous of you," Arenade teased. "But I can tell you from experience, giving people gold doesn't do anything for them. They will go right back to where they started. At the bottom."

Coming from Arenade, Kanae was sure there was a lot of truth to that. Even so…

"I couldn't just leave her like that," Kanae said.

"Yeah. Back then… neither could I," she added remorsefully.

Kanae picked up the crutch that was fashioned out of two planks of wood wrapped together by a thin rope. It must have been uncomfortable to hell and back to use something like this.

"I figured in a world with so much magic someone would have healed her a long time ago," Kanae wondered aloud.

"You heard her, didn't you? A lot of churches charge a small tithe for healing. Potions cost money, and adventurers can get stingy about their magic. For someone like her, spending one gold coin can mean starving tomorrow or next week," Arenade explained. "You can imagine, kids suffering like her…"

Kanae grabbed Arenade by the hand and pressed a palm to her cheek so that they were facing each other. There was so much she wanted to tell her. So much she wanted to do to ease the guilt that Arenade had built from two lifetimes.

"How about tomorrow we start something like a soup kitchen? Go around helping those in need?"

"I'd like that." Arenade smiled softly, the haughty demigoddess demeanor faltering in Kanae's touch.

"Sins and vices will always lead people astray, and this foul place of worship will fall all the same." Bishop Rudo strutted into the church alone and came no further than a few steps from the doors.

The two of them separated and tensed up.

"Oh, put those scowls away. I'm not here to quarrel."

"Then what are you here for?" Arenade asked.

"To offer you a fair warning. Pack your bags and leave the city while you still have the chance. When I have become mayor, this Eminence of Depravity will be the first place I come after. Your efforts will prove futile. The next time we see each other, you shall be cellmates with Renya Rown," he said, then turned his back to them on his way out.

"You were the one who sent someone to threaten me earlier, didn't you? I'll have you know we're prepared, and we're not going to fold just because you're a sore loser!" Kanae shouted.

"Hmph. I have no clue what you're on about. Regardless, this farce of yours ends in two days. I look forward to lording over you as the new Mayor of Lograin." The bishop grinned.

When he left, Thedia emerged from the nursery with Teana in her arms. The maid shot Kanae a worried look.

The day came at last for the final tally of the votes. Masses of people flooded into the streets in the direction of the mayor's manor to hear the result of who would be their new leader. Kanae, Edina, and Arenade were getting ready to leave the church to join them, never more nervous than before. All their efforts led to this.

"Mama!" Teana wriggled in Thedia's grasp.

"Mama won't be gone long." Kanae kissed her on the forehead. "Be a good girl and stay here, okay?"

"I eagerly await the news upon your return, and I'm sure Renya can't wait a second longer." Thedia smiled.

"Let's hope all our hard work doesn't go to waste." She sighed out weeks of stress that had been mounting to this point.

On their way out, a red-headed lady stopped them at the chamber floor.

"Sorry, toots. The church is closed today," Edina said.

"Don't you remember me? I came yesterday!" the woman exclaimed, staring at Kanae and Arenade in particular.

"You're… the girl with the bad leg?" Kanae asked.

"Yes! I'm so sorry— my name is Lilith," she introduced herself.

The woman named Lilith looked like a completely different person. Her curly red locks draped over a green tunic and skirt. She actually cleaned herself up. The cheeks were still gaunt and eyes sunken, but her energy was proof that she had at least eaten well very recently.

Now that Kanae took a good look at Lilith, she was incredibly attractive. A few weeks of eating well, and she would be on her way back to a healthy weight.

"Just yesterday, I was on the verge of surrendering to my poor fate. Coming to your church, the Eminence of Sin, I didn't expect to have my life saved. I want to give back. Will you allow me to serve you? As a maid, a fellow priest, anything! I'll do… anything," Lilith emphasized the last word rather strongly, her eyes showing a little more than simple devotion.

It was fervor.

The man gulped hard.

"Anything is a dangerous word," Kanae whispered, cupping Lilith's cheeks in both hands and gazing into her eyes to test her resolve. "Are you sure?"

"I-I am… m-mistress…" Lilith breathed deeply.

"Good. Thedia will show you around and get you started. The rest of us will be back later after the election is over. I look forward to seeing you in our habit." She winked and ushered her off towards Thedia.

"You sure that's a good idea? I mean, we barely know her and all," Edina said as they left the church.

"Lilith sounds sweet. Besides, if we want the Eminence of Sin to grow, then we need more people like her."

What originally began as a plot concocted to help Mallory win the election was now becoming an entire beast on its own.

They hurried to the mayor's manor, where thousands of people had gathered in the courtyard outside of his estate. A line of guards kept the crowds at bay. Security looked extra tight.

"I-I can't see!" Edina complained, then summoned a skeleton to sit on its shoulders.

Standing at the balcony overlooking them was the current mayor, an older human man with a monocle over his right eye and handkerchief sticking too far out of his breast pocket. He was the spitting image of some noble faction's puppet. If Kanae remembered correctly, he was in support of Bishop Rudo. Hopefully, there wasn't any funny business going on when it came to counting votes.

Standing to the mayor's left was Mallory, and to his right was Bishop Rudo. Both of them appeared assured of their own victory.

"Make way! Make way!"

A rider on horseback raced down the thoroughfare. He dismounted in front of the manor, where guards opened the doors to let him in. A minute later, he showed up at the balcony with the three men and handed over a sealed letter to the mayor.

Using a knife, the mayor popped open the wax seal and unrolled. A dim magical glow emanated from the parchment. His un-monocled eye twitched as he quietly read the contents of the letter to himself.

"Your next mayor of our great city of Lograin, leading by a thin margin of a few hundred votes is…" He extended a hand to Mallory. "Mallory Clayton!"

Bishop Rudo's face went pale, and the arrogant grin that was once full of hubris flipped into a despairing frown. All at once, the courtyard erupted into cheers, heckling, and chaos.

"We did it!" Arenade screamed.

A massive weight lifted from Kanae's shoulders. It was almost too outrageous to believe.

"We did…" Kanae repeated. Unable to contain her happiness, she grabbed Arenade and plunged her tongue down the priestess' throat. Arenade didn't resist and instead reciprocated with a handsy embrace that was quickly getting spicy.

When their lips parted, they stared into each other's eyes that were awash with overwhelming affection and lust.

"Arenade," Kanae began with a deep breath, steeling herself to say the words that were raging like an inferno underneath. "I'm in love with you. When I saw you go with Bishop Rudo, I hated it so much. Even when you told him about Teana… I couldn't stay angry. I don't care what I am or what you are. All I know is that I want to make you happy, and I want you by my side always. The whole you being my sex slave thing? What do you say about being mine forever?"

Arenade gasped and choked up. The corners of her eyes welled up with tears.

"Kanae, I…"

The moon in the crowds shifted from celebratory to confusion.

"Is that smoke?"

"That's a fire!"

"Uhh, guys. I don't mean to interrupt your lovey-dovey time, but isn't that in the direction of our church?" Edina pointed to a stack of smoke billowing into the sky from the religious ward.

"Oh, no… Teana!" Kanae cried, shoving people out of the way to get out of the crowds. There were too many to budge. She couldn't take it any longer and flew into the skies to the gasps of many people below.

They didn't matter. Teana did.

But when Kanae crested over the buildings, she despaired at the inferno that engulfed their church.
