“I canʼt do this no more…”
I looked at the dead (figuratively) Goddess before me and entertained the possibility that this may be an elaborate prank. Maybe the transformation of her appearance was simply some advanced illusion magic trick that my eyes couldnʼt decipher—
“Why are you doubting me all of a sudden?” she asked with a resentful look in her vermillion eyes. “Be careful, if not I will crush you under my foot in your next blink.”
“You know, some people will actually pay good money for such a thing…” My voice trailed off as a familiar figure approached us.
“Oh, hello.” Angelica gave Seraphine a friendly wave. “You must be Seraphine, the Head Prefect?”
Her dark, aslant eyes narrowed at Angelica. “Youʼve heard of me?”
“Hmm? I guess, someone introduced me to everyone in the class just now.” She nodded her head at me and smirked. “You and Avery lead the Student Council of this school together, right? How close are you two?”
I rolled my eyes briefly and sighed. “Iʼm not—”
“We only met recently, so Avery and I are simply acquaintances at this point,” Seraphine answered in a soft voice. “I hope we can get to know each other better in the coming months.”
Angelica tilted her head to the side and mumbled a “oh, i see” while I blinked and glanced at Seraphine in surprise.
“If thereʼs nothing else, I just want to extend a warm welcome to you for joining our class,” she continued without a hitch. “Avery is a reliable individual, so you can count on him to help you out at any time. Iʼm also available as well, of course.”
With that, Seraphine walked past us out of the classroom, joining the crowd of students heading to the canteen for recess.

“Whatʼs wrong?” Angelica asked, looking at me curiously.
“Eh? No, itʼs nothing…” I shrugged. “I just didnʼt expect Seraphine to approach a stranger that easily, considering she is usually reserved.”
“I donʼt think Iʼm a stranger to her, though,” she muttered. “Why do I feel like Iʼve met her before…well, whatever, letʼs talk about the more pressing issue right now. Do you know whereʼs the Demon Lordʼs hideout in this school, Hero?”
I let out a defeated sigh. “Weʼre still on that Demon Lord nonsense, huh…”
“Nonsense?!” Angelica opened and shut her mouth like a goldfish. “Well, I guess since you defeated Lukterasia on the first try, it may be easy to you—but do you still have your original powers in this world, Hero?”
“You should seriously stop calling me a Hero, Iʼm just a normal student…”
“Of course you are, you shouldnʼt be able to retain your powers after your reincarnation,” she said in a matter-of-fact tone. “But the Demon Lord has reincarnated here too, and she defied Heaven by keeping her powers and skills from her previous life. That’s why, in order for you to be able to challenge her, Iʼm here to support you.”
“Uh, I donʼt think I just lost my powers,” I muttered. “I probably lost all my memories of my past life as well, because I really donʼt get what you have been saying this entire time.”
“...” Angelica shook her head in disappointment. “You are familiar with the concept of reincarnation at least, right?”
I smiled awkwardly. “Actually, Iʼm a freethinker, so…”
