The driver darted a faint look at Sheng An’ning but did not answer her question.
The driver got down from the car and opened the door for Sheng An’ning, “Our boss is in front. Ms Sheng, you may go over.”
When Sheng An’ning saw how the driver ignored her, she was not pleased but it was not time to throw tantrum in such circumstances…
Sheng An’ning put the stun gun back into her handbag and then walked slowly with the driver to a secluded and remote courtyard.
The courtyard seemed to have been unoccupied for a long time. The wild grass grew like crazy and the sight of it made people afraid.
It was broad daylight now but Sheng An’ning felt inexplicably strange.
It was so spooky even when there was sunlight, so how would it feel when night fell?
Sheng An’ning looked up but did not see anyone. She felt more and more uneasy.
She couldn’t help asking the driver who brought her here, “Didn’t you say we’ve arrived? Why don’t I see anyone?”
The driver darted a sideways glance at Sheng An’ning impatiently and then stretched out his finger and pointed at the grape pergola in front.
“Walk over to the grape pergola and you’ll see our boss. Ms. Sheng, you head over there yourself.”
Sheng An’ning’s heart tightened. She had not expected this man to send her here and now she was completely under the control of others. Looking at the degree of desolation here, no one would hear her no matter how loud she could scream.
Every time the word ‘boss’ was mentioned by the driver, Sheng An’ning felt there was an inexplicable reverence in his tone of voice.
Who was the mysterious man?
Why did he ask her out in such a forceful manner?
Sheng An’ning seized her handbag tightly, trying to give herself some courage.
She took a light breath and finally took heavy steps slowly toward the grape pergola.
Vaguely, Sheng An’ning saw a stone tea table opposite her. A man was sitting on the stone bench, leisurely making a cup of tea for himself.
Someone was indeed there!
Through the green grape vines, Sheng An’ning could only vaguely see that his dressing was very strange.
He was wearing a pure black windbreaker in summer, wrapping himself up. A big black hat sat on his head and on his face was a pair of huge sunglasses.
Wasn’t he hot?
Sheng An’ning’s eyes widened. Just when she was about to walk through the grape pergola, the man spoke.
“Ms. Sheng, just stand there to chat with me.”
His voice was exceptionally hoarse, just like an old man with grey hair but looking at his physical build, Sheng An’ning could tell that he was not too old.
If his voice was not injured, it would be impossible to sound like this!
As a music student, Sheng An’ning could recognize that he was using a fake voice almost immediately.
Why did he use a fake voice?
Was he afraid she would recognize him?
As soon as she recalled his weird dressing, Sheng An’ning knew he was covering up his identity.
Sheng An’ning pursed her lips slightly and then stopped walking. For her own safety, she wished to stay further away from the man.
Even so far away, Sheng An’ning could see that the man had a straight back and an elegant sitting posture. One look at him and she knew he had received good etiquette training.
In fact, Sheng An’ning was afraid of people who acted recklessly without saying anything. However, looking at this man now, although he was mysterious, it seemed he was not after money, nor was he thinking of sexually harassing her. At present, he didn’t mean to hurt her…

Sheng An’ning’s heart slowly calmed down. She stared at the man and tried to speak in a calm manner.
“Sir, may I know who you are, please? Do we know one another? What can I do for you?”
Hearing Sheng An’ning asking him three questions at one time, he smiled slightly and thought that she was naïve and adorable.
However, that was a silent laughter. Through the green vines, Sheng An’ning was unable to see the faint smile.
The man poured a cup of tea for himself leisurely and took a sip. After keeping Sheng An’ning waiting for a long time, he finally spoke.
“Ms. Sheng, you can call me Mr. Chen.”
“Mr. Chen?”
Muddleheaded, Sheng An’ning nodded. She knew the man didn’t want to say much and so she did not continue asking for his identity. She put her focus on the man’s purpose of today’s meeting.
“Hello, Mr. Chen. Why did you want to see me today?”
Sheng An’ning didn’t understand. She had nothing to do with this man.
He was too mysterious but since she met him, she had inexplicable confidence that he wouldn’t harm her, at least not now.
“Ms. Sheng, your spokesmanship had been replaced today. Don’t you feel that it’s unfair?”
Upon hearing this, her eyes widened. How long ago had this happened? He knew it so clearly.
Wasn’t it said that the confidentiality of this advertising project was high?
How could one break into the internal department so easily?
Sheng An’ning’s eyes darkened and realized he was not a man to mess with.
“Mr. Chen, you mean…”
Before Sheng An’ning’s voice died down, the man beside the tea table stood up. His hoarse and old voice reverberated beside Sheng An’ning’s ears.
“I’m here to help you.”
Help her?
Why should a stranger whom she had never heard of help her?
Sheng An’ning was taken aback. She was not moved by his words. So, she tried asking, “Mr. Chen, how do you plan to help me? We don’t know one another. Why do you want to help me?”
The man sat down slowly. He grasped the while ceramic cup with tea and then placed it slowly on the stone table.
“My objective isn’t important. Just believe in my sincerity.”
The man’s voice was neither cold nor warm but his overly hoarse voice showed a bit of treachery.
Sheng An’ning was confused by his words. Although she was young, she was not a little girl to fool around with.
How could anyone in this world be willing to help her without reason?
Moreover, looking at his manner, he didn’t look like someone who admired her.
Sheng An’ning took a deep breath and suppressed her uneasiness, “Mr. Chen, I don’t know what you mean.”
The mysterious man gave a low laugh and then spoke faintly.
“Ms. Sheng, just follow my arrangement and it will do. As for the other matters, you don’t need to know.”
Suddenly, the mysterious man snapped his finger. Before Sheng An’ning could react, she heard sounds of footsteps from behind.
The driver in black appeared from behind and raised his hand.
“Ms. Sheng, you may go now.”
It was a conversation of less than ten minutes and she was ordered to be sent off?
Sheng An’ning thought the man took great pains to ‘invite’ her over and there was going to be big moves but nothing seemed to happen…
