-On planet Earth, parallel dimension, Earth year 20XX-

Jake Flash lay on his death bed. Family and friends by his side watching his final moments. He knew his time would come sooner or later, though unexpectedly it was too quick. At age of 52 he was meeting his end. His nemesis was unfortunately brain cancer. Even if he had billions of dollars, he couldn’t treat the disease at all since it reached the late stage.

Though Jake didn’t really care. Everyone died at one point what mattered was if one enjoyed life or not. Jake looked around the room, everyone he cared about was in the room.

Eleven people sat around some crying, sleeping, and others ‘calling’ on their phones. Jake couldn’t blame them there were too many false alarms of him almost dying. His son was just on his computer doing his homework. At the age of five, his son was too young to know what death meant.

Looking at his son, not being able to see him grow up was a large regret of his. Jake himself had no parents, knowing how big of an impact parents had on children, filled Jake with sadness.

Jake remembered his childhood. The orphanage he used to live in. It was filled with bad memories, but at least there was some good that came with it, his ambition to control his life.

Jake tried his best in school and thankfully he was smart, very smart. He was ahead of everyone in school; such that he decided to learn ahead of everyone in his class. Jake was learning 6th grade material during 3rd grade. In 6th grade he was already learning 12th grade material. During which, in 6th grade he took the state and national exams which he saved enough money for and showed how far ahead he was. Through this, Jake received scholarships to enter highly prestigious universities and was even allowed to skip high school if he accepted going into a university. Deciding to enter university, he left the orphanage without any hesitation, he didn’t have much attachment to the orphanage.

In university Jake learned the cold truth, connections and money were everything in life. Thankfully, he found a friend, a friend who didn’t leave after knowing Jake came from an orphanage and his age. He was also a millionaire which meant he really wasn’t after anything that Jake had.

Though later Jake found out that he was wrong, and he was being used. Jake shared with his ‘friend’ an invention he made, which his ‘friend’ stole. Jake didn’t even bother trying to go to court, he knew the reality of life, connections and money were everything, and he had none of those while ‘his friend’ was full of them.

After the betrayal, Jake started creating small inventions and selling the patents at a cheap price, knowing being too greedy and too vulnerable would cause him to be targeted. He needed a foothold, which was enough money and connections, to help him resist ‘mysteriously disappearing’ from the face of the Earth.

After getting a doctorates degree in engineering, Jake decided to get a doctorate in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology. At the age of 35, he finished his university with five D.S because a lot of requirements for the degrees’ overlapped.

During university, Jake became famous and a multimillionaire with many patents. Jake’s old ‘friend’ tried to reconcile with him, though obviously Jake didn’t care about him any longer.

Jake created a patent company which mostly sold or allowed his inventions to be used, though this time at normal price. Slowly but surely, Jake became richer, more powerful, and tired. Yes, tired. Jake had what he wanted money and power, but nothing else.

At the age of 40, Jake decided to look for a hobby other than inventing. Though some filtering of hobbies, reading novels and playing games became his hobby. Jake felt that he was a living an extra life every time he read a book or played a game. His favorite books and games were about learning, fighting, reincarnation, system, and non-human main characters.

Deciding that working for more money was a waste of time and effort after becoming a billionaire, Jake stopped making inventions for money, and focused on learning and enjoying himself. Though Jake still made some inventions he thought were fun and challenging.

When Jake was 45, he found the love of his life, his wife. She was unusually like him. She loved to read, learn, and invent. She also came from an orphanage and had a bad past. She worked with the orphanage in her free time due to her love for children. Jake remembered all the hardships he went through in the orphanage and decided to donate money.

When Jake started to donate money, he felt like he became addicted to it, a bit too addicted. Realizing he could save or better someone’s life with just a little money was just addicting for some reason.

Through all the charities Jake did, he and his wife became closer and closer. Jake also made a few friends through the charities he funded without them knowing his identity, a super-rich man. After two years of meeting, Jake married her and had a child with his wife on the same year.

After his child was born, Jake felt he had a new purpose in life. He raised his son as much as he could without spoiling him too much. Jake knew how troublesome and dangerous a rich spoiled brat can be.

Four years later, Jake felt a headache that couldn’t be described with words. His wife called the air ambulance, and he was taken to the hospital. The hospital found that had late-stage brain cancer, one of the few nemeses of rich people which cannot be cured even with billions of dollars.

Knowing he didn’t have much time left Jake did what he enjoyed most, donating his money to help people in need. Jake did this for two reasons. One was because he loved helping people out and second it was to protect his wife and son. Having too much money was dangerous he knew that the best.

Jake gave away billions of dollars with his wife’s approval. Jake obviously didn’t want his wife and son to suffer so he saved fifty million dollars and a few of his patent rights for his wife and son.

After a close to half-a-year, Jake had a few heart attacks, causing false alarms of his death. Being rich kept him alive a bit longer, but no longer, Jake had enough. He was mentally harming his wife and himself.

Feelings lightheaded and pain in his chest and hearing the beeping of heart monitoring device, Jake knew what was happening to him again, a heart attack.

Knowing his last words should relive them Jake said, “No worries we all die, if we enjoyed our life to its fullest, that all that matters. It’s not like there is an afterlife aft-” Jake didn’t finish his words before he died.

Jake felt strange when he died. There was no pain and no darkness. For some reason he could still ‘see, feel, hear, taste, and smell’. Jake could still hear his wife crying and everyone shouting, his son also grabbed his hand telling him everyone in the room was too loud.

After a while, they closed his eyes, yet he could still ‘see’, it was strange. After a while, the hospital staff told his family and friends they need to take his body away, and then took his body to the mortuary and placed him into a container. The place he was kept was so quiet and dark, that it was terrifying, and he couldn’t do anything about it.

A long time later someone took him out and he was handed to a few people to embalm. Jake wanted to scream and shout for them to stop but no words came out of his mouth.

Finishing embalming him, they placed him into a coffin, and it turned silent. Jake couldn’t sleep for some reason and the wait felt like an eternity. Thankfully, Jake felt the coffin move after a long time. Then Jake heard some noise, though not much since the coffin blocked most of it out. It sounded like a funeral; Jake started to panic again.

Will he be placed into darkness forever? Never hearing sound nor seeing anything?

Hearing the funeral proceed to the end and the moving of the coffin, Jake felt like he went insane. Was he going to stay insane until the end of time?

Everything turned quiet until Jake felt something ‘drag him’ out.
