Chapter 2: Chapter 1: New Life

A/N: Before you all continue, I just want to announce that this novel work of mine will be an experimental one for my writing skill, it would be great if you all point out the mistakes in my story as I believe that having someone to criticize my work will make me push myself to be better. In the deepest part of the forests, lies the most dangerous magical beasts and monsters, a part of the world where the strong prey on the weak, no one was crazy enough to venture into the woods in this part of the continent.

In a certain place in the forest, inside the deepest part of a large cavern, there was a platform where various materials like straw and weeds can be seen scattered, in the center, lies an egg with a distinct green and gold color, four strange pillars surround the egg, on top of it were floating crystals emanating light that hatches the egg whose been left for an unknown time.

Slowly, the egg was catching, and the eggshell began to crumble, as the legs of an unknown creature force its way out of its enclosure, as it slowly comes out, the crystal that was emitting light and warmth slowly fades away as well, eventually, the creature that will rein on top of the food chain successfully got out of the eggshell, as soon as the creature— the Dragon, got out, it immediately fell asleep, resting after experiencing the dragon's first ever struggle in this world.

The young man closed his eyes, the moment he died, he was expecting to be in hell or heaven, yet nothing like that appears— what was beyond his death was darkness, Kareem doesn't remember how long he was inside this place, a realm or whatever it is called.

The first time he got here, all memories he had was vague, as if something was stopping him from remembering them, what he only knows is his name, he still has some memories back on earth, but many specific ones don't remember.

Not putting much attention to it since his body felt so relaxed since he was born, Kareem embraced the peaceful darkness, he just floated there, he does not remember how long has it been since he got here, perhaps days, months, years, or centuries.

What felt like an eternity finally came to a stop, as light suddenly invaded his vision, after the light, was darkness again. But something feels different, unlike in the plane where he felt nothing, empty and relaxed, here, he felt alive, and as if his 'instincts' voluntarily moved, he felt his limbs touch something, he pushed it, punch it with all his power and effort, it took a while, finally, his efforts seemed to work, as the previous darkness was filled with light again, though it wasn't that much 'light', he realized he's in a dim room, on a stone platform.

Kareem wanted to take a look more, however, his body suddenly felt weak, and then his consciousness once again left him... To rest.

Heavy: that was what Kareem felt as he slowly opened his eyes, he felt like he gained a hundred kilos as his limbs carry his large body, it seems his hands and foot were replaced with larger, bulkier, and scaly limbs.

"What the hell..."

A natural reaction, Kareem, who was once a human, saw his hands similar to that of an elephant excluding the green and gold scales, four sharp claws, and how bulky it is, it was only natural to freak out, but he did it in a much calmer way.

"This is not a dream... Right?" Taking a detailed glance at his body, I he had a long neck, he has a body similar to a lizard and dinosaur, a long tail with a sharp end, there are also fins from his neck down to his tail, a beautiful yet menacing green scale with some golden line scales in the middle of his limbs and body, and finally, he's on all fours.

"What am I? An oversized lizard?" Throwing away his useless thoughts, Kareem observes his surroundings next, it seems he's inside a large cavern, and what he meant was a REAL large cavern, you can probably fit a small town here. There is also this weird platform where he supposedly 'hatched', he saw a light just straight ahead of the cavern.

Must be the exit.

Kareem then pondered, "So I died as reborn huh? As a lizard on top of that, why can't I be like those OP protagonists of the novels that I read... Why am I so calm anyway? Aren't I supposed to be screaming and crying?" 

For some reason, Kareem felt satisfied, he suddenly remembered, he always hated the people around him that only approaches him for their benefit, but why? Why would they approach him? He doesn't understand nor remember why would they approach him.

Although he put those types of thoughts again, unknown to him that many of his memories were lost he shouldn't have remembered anything at all.

Kareem began to walk on four limbs, as a former human, it was very hard at first, but his new beastly instinct helps his body to get used to it, and as if rather the body trains his mind as to how to.

As he get used to his body, he also pondered something, "What do I do now?" his question was a bit tricky, if he were born as a natural lizard without any knowledge and vague memories of his past life, he must be doing what should a beats like him must do; to survive. It may sound simple, but Kareem knew that outside this cavern lies dangerous beasts like himself. God knows what kind of faith awaits him outside the cavern.

He has no idea what to do from now on besides surviving, "Well, I was given a second chance, guess I'll just do whatever I want!" 

Kareem who was hungry for freedom and adventure had finally decided, while in high spirits, he knows he can't communicate with everyone in his form, even him would be scared to death if he see something like himself if he were a human again.

Suddenly, Kareem's stomach grumbled hard, "... I think I should get some food first..."
