The silence unfortunately didn’t last long, and then much of the talk became about me.
“Oi, look! An absolute beaut just burst through those doors.”
“Oh, it’s true! I’m callin dibs!”
“Are ye’ mad? You ain’t got a chance with a noble, but maybe if it was me…”
“With a face like that? Who ya screwing with man?...”
“Yahahahaha!”
The men in front of the bar seemed to be off their rockers. Even though it was this early in the morning. The parasol might have stopped the sun from grating on my head, but it wasn’t stopping these buffoons. A single glare seemed to put them in their place as they returned to their drinks. I stepped forward towards the large receptionist counter at the back of the place.
The place was a decent size and fit a dozen tables as well as the bar. The receptionist counter was as lengthy as half the first floor, and next to it on the right was a large board nailed with papers attached. The papers had designations and descriptions of requests, and off to the left was the stairway leading up to the second floor. As I made my way towards the receptionist counter, many of the chattering died down. Though I did feel a prickly sensation in the back of my neck. It felt strange, and when I whipped my head around in the direction of the feeling, I saw a hooded woman who sat in the corner of the place with her head down. She looked as though she was just taking a nap, but something felt off about her.
“Miss?...” I quickly whipped my head around focusing my attention on the receptionist. In terms of appearance, she was boring like most of the townspeople. She had brown hair and dull brown eyes. Her face was decent looking, but the sun seemed to have scattered freckles all over it.
“Ah yes, I beg your pardon, but I am told this is a place where one can solicit information.”
“You hear her?
“Awe yes she says information, but ain’t she a noble?”
“Ya know the guild doesn’t discriminate…”
“Information is it? Well we do have that sort of thing. If you want a private room, you will have to pay. I imagine you want to limit the spectators, miss…”
“Eliah is fine, how much is it for one of these sessions?” The chattering about me continued in the background making my brows twitch; nonetheless, I still maintained my calm demeanor. I hadn’t a clue how strong I was here, so I wasn't about to fight all of the masses.
“That would be 1 Ender Silver, but you will be charged more if the information is excessive or something else…” What the hell is an Ender silver? I closed my hand and created a small shadow space inside. When I opened it there was a silver coin with a swirl pattern. I placed the coin on the desk and slid it in front of her. “What about this?”
She picked up the coin and began inspecting it. “You aren’t from here are you?” I shook my head as she picked up a magnifying glass with bronze trimming from underneath the table. “Well, let's see… There is no doubt this is as valuable as Ender silver, but I have never seen this before… What country were you from again?”
“Will it get me a session or not?” She quickly pocketed the coin, and then smiled at me. “Right this way please!”
I followed her up the interior staircase. The noise in the hall seemed to grow as I walked away, and that prickly feeling in my neck followed me until I was out of view from the rabble. We entered a room with a single wooden table surrounded by chairs of the same. They seemed to mostly use wood in their furniture as far as I could tell. “Please take a seat.”
I did as she said and took a seat next to the table as she took her own across from me. Once she was seated she took a small black box out of her pocket and placed it on the center of the table. As she waved her hand over the black box a wave of magic passed through the room. I could tell it wasn’t anything harmful. Most likely this was a type of catalyst. “What is that?”
“Is that your first question?” The woman got a devilish smirk on her face.
“Please don’t look at me with such disdain, Miss, Eliah. I was only joking… This is for keeping the room silent. It is a catalyst for blocking sound. What we say won’t be heard by anyone, I can assure you. Now ask away!”
“Very well… First, you said Ender silver earlier. What is that?” Her eyes shot open and her mouth went agape. “You mean to tell me you don’t even know that!?”If she was going to be like this the whole time I needed to do something, or else I wouldn’t get anywhere. “I guess it is time to test my racial abilities…”

“Test your what?...” I waved my hand in front of my eyes and undid my disguise. I put a new power into my eyes. This time I thought of control. I thought of the ability to kill off emotions. I thought of using my eyes to control the part of the brain responsible for emotional responses and speech patterns. Before she could even finish speaking it was already too late. Her already dull eyes now looked like a dead fish.
“What is my name?”
“Eliah.” Her response was completely monotone.
“Good girl, now I will ask again, what is Ender silver?”
“Ender silver is the currency of this kingdom.”
“Am I right in presuming that Ender is the name of the kingdom?”
“Yes.”
I see but Ender is a country that didn’t exist at all in the game. Is this truly another world? “Who is in charge of this fort?”
“Viscount Belier.”
I kept asking questions until I had a decent understanding of where I was. This city was called Arbuk, and the capital of Ender lay 20km to the west. She didn’t have much to say about other countries. She only knew a few of the major country names. One that did strike me as the most odd was Leo Kingdom. Due to the oddities I had no idea what to think. Either people from the game came here too, or this is a different place entirely. “Last question… Do you know who ‘Eliah The Immortal’ is?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“An old fairy tale.” This was the annoying thing about asking anyone who had been influenced by a [Vampire’s charm]. The answers they gave were less expressive, and they often didn’t expound. I would have been there for a while had I wanted to get all the answers, but then people would start asking questions. The longer I kept this up, the greater the risk. Especially since her memory would be hazy. I waved my hands back in front of my eyes as I deactivated the spell.
She slumped forward a little before she started blinking rapidly. “Did I doze off?”
“You seem to be tired… I never caught your name…”
“Oh right, I am Celes!” She offered her hand, but I shook my head. “Fine be that way miss, Eliah… Right! What did you ask!?”
“I said how do you know the name ‘Eliah The Immortal’?”
“That does sound familiar now that you mention it…” She looked towards the corner of the room where a small pendulum clock was swinging away. “By Enderman, it has been an hour! I am sorry, we will have to continue this later!” She quickly got up and disabled the magic device. “Miss Eliah, I hoped I was able to help you… This is str-”
“Don’t worry about it. You were plenty of help. Just make sure you are getting better rest in the future. You don’t want to doze off in front of future clients, but I will let it slide this time.” I smiled gently at her.
“Right! Thank you, I will walk you back down.” I followed her down the stairs, and by the time we reached the main area there were many people who had left including the hooded figure. I exited the guild as the ruckus inside continued.
Celes had told me where to find an inn here, but according to her there was no way to exchange my currency here. Luckily, I did trade a few silver coins with her while she was a zombie. On the way to the inn, I felt the prickly sensation on my neck much stronger this time. This time I instinctively reached behind me and grabbed an arm as I turned around.
“What are you trying to do?” I glared at the girl as her hood came off from being pulled closer to me. Her leather armor was all black, and the boots had a strange power radiating off of them. Her face had a scar under her right eye, but other than that she was quite beautiful. Her lips curved into a smile. “I was just trying to get your attention.”
