Everyone in this kingdom are idiots. Especially my father. What did the king of this nation expect when he didn’t take the villagers' issues seriously? Now we are down some of our best soldiers. The minister of finance will probably take advantage of this opportunity like the snake he is. There are too many issues going on at once, and my father keeps forcing all of the extra work to me. “If he had just consulted me to begin with…”

“And what is up with this ambassador from another kingdom? The person calls themselves Eliah? And they do it proudly? This person is either a fool, or they are the actual person in question. Why else would they choose to knock on the door of this kingdom? If they are the actual person, then they should know something about this kingdom from long ago. Perhaps I can make a deal with ‘Eliah The Immortal’?”

Who am I kidding? I am just deluding myself, so I don’t have to deal with this paper work. “Eliah” is obviously an alias, and this personage must be some great pretender. The fact that they haven’t died yet, and are using that name is impressive in itself. “I would really like to meet this Eliah tomorrow.”

I rang the bell on my desk, and a maid immediately entered the room. “Send word to ‘Count Eliah’ that the king of this country will meet her tomorrow.” The maid had a look of shock on her face, but I waved my hand. She bowed and then quickly left the room.

“Now then it is getting late. It is time for my nightly routine right about now. I need to deliberate on everything I have learned. Maybe I can learn something new?”

I used the magical element of space, which I am best at, to teleport myself into a familiar stone room. It was cold and there was a single black mat in the center of the room. I quickly sat down and started to meditate on the center of the black mat. Then I started to chant. “Make all matters known to me. ‘Spatial Awareness’”

Rapid images started to fill my mind, and I could only discern a few. It felt like my head would explode after the 20th image, but finally the spell ended. “It doesn’t get easier even when my affinity is this great?”

“Now let's piece together what I know.” I sorted all of the images in my mind, and released the irrelevant images from my brain. “Well this is going to be an interesting night indeed.”

The way that “Spatial Awareness” works is by providing my brain with multiple probabilities within my domain. My current domain is expanded across the entire kingdom. The reason I have such a high compatibility with the ability is the fact that I am able to process the information within these images piece by piece to see if what I am seeing is the actual likely course of events.

I have been able to find several large and small criminal gangs within the kingdom based on this one ability. It is an ability that I have always been quite proud of. I am even learning several things tonight which I am happy with; however, it is odd that I haven’t learned anything about this “Eliah”. She continues to be allusive.

I did learn about this “Beast” that attacked the soldiers on their mission though. From piecing together these images I was able to learn that they are called a “Lycan”. This particular one is “The devourer”. He is one of the highest orders of the Lycans. If this information is true this is really awful news for this entire kingdom. I want to tell my father, but that idiot won’t even prepare a contingency plan. Maybe he will actually take this issue seriously since one of his finest soldiers managed to die to that beast.

I teleported to the forbidden library, and fell down on one of the chairs next to the only table here. “My mana is almost empty; however, this requires the utmost diligence, and I need to be sure…Now where is it?”

I thumbed through the books of Eliah’s known followers. “Half-dragon Ilya, Ice Witch Neiva… Oh there it is ‘The Devourer’.” I started to thumb to the pages taking heed to not miss any important detail.

It appears that “The Devourer” can be in one of two states at any given time, and the main state can last for centuries if Eliah is around. That state being “Satiated.” If the beast has been satiated he will act more predictably, and if the beast has not been satiated he will be in a state of “Hunger”. In this state he will be entirely unpredictable.

“Hmm, judging by his current actions right now he is in a state of “Hunger”. Huh? Isn’t this really bad for the kingdom?” The book states that one time when he was in a state of hunger he brought an entire city down. “But how do we satiate the beast? It is said that he feeds on fear, but how much does he need? It also says that there is something else he feeds on; however, the food is unknown.”

“For now I need to take this information to my father and have him summon some of the Eliah Scholars that would know a lot more detail.” I ran out of the forbidden library and quickly ran into someone in black robes.

“Oh, if it isn’t the first prince? What brings you to the forbidden library so late?” Recently my father had hired this person who wears only these robes always, and I don’t even know his name. I saw a little of his face one time, and it was clear that there were some burn marks; however, I only caught a glimpse.

“I was just checking old documents related to Eliah…” He quickly perked up and cut me off. “Oh Eliah!...I mean oh, Eliah is it? And what have you been searching around in regards to that personage?” Oi, don’t just pretend that you didn’t get excited. I wanted to protest, but I just answered normally.

“I was just interested in something regarding her death, it is none of your concern…Now then if you’ll excuse me.” I started to leave when I heard the man say “It is no good to lie you know…” He didn’t pursue the issue further and I was allowed to just walk away, but it is clear that this guy is no good. I don’t know why my father has him here. Just what is my stupid old man thinking? I know my father would never intentionally harm the kingdom, but it seems like if you hire someone like this you are asking for it.

I headed back to my study, and I Immediately began to write a detailed letter addressed to my father. It detailed all of the facts I knew about “The Devourer”, and in it I also asked if I could meet Eliah tomorrow in his stead. I finally started to doze off after passing the letter to a maid, and when I finally fell asleep my nightmare was vivid.

I dreamt of this entire kingdom falling to ruin, but the odd thing was that all of it was done by my hands. I slaughtered countless innocent civilians, and eventually my own father was beheaded, by my own hands.
