“Welcome home, Lucien.” I said as I watched him tear through soldiers. I was completely distracted, and didn’t notice until the last second the presences behind me. It was Rela, Emma and Ilya. They had come here, but how did I not notice them until now? It was probably since I was immersed in the battle before me. I turned around and looked upon all of them. They were all kneeling and awaiting my orders.

“I want all of you to go to the south gate, and deal with the cultists there. Let me deal with Lucien.” They all looked displeased at my orders. It was clear that they didn’t want me to be alone, but I need to deal with this myself. “I know what you all are thinking, but let me deal with him on my own…” Ilya was the one who interrupted me.

“At least let me remain by your side. In the event that anything should happen to you…” Her voice trailed off. “Goddess, I too want to be by your side” said Emma following Ilya. Rela didn’t say anything, but it was clear she wanted to do the same as the other two.

“No! If you don’t believe in your Queen then, how can I believe in myself? I will settle the score with Lucien. After all…” It is my fault that everything turned out like this. It is due to my own incompetence. “I can tell Ilya… He is just like you. He is drowning in his own sorrow, and right now he is without reason. I will give him reason! I will give him direction. He needs to be reprimanded for his behavior. If I couldn’t do this much then how could I call myself a Queen?”

They all smiled seeing my resolve. Ilya and Emma were moved to tears, and Rela stood up attempting to hug me with a flushed look on her face. “Hey, why are you so readily trying to hug me now? Don’t you know the situation we are in? Just what kind of pervert…” Before I could finish my face was pressed between 2 mounds. As she hugged me, she whispered into my ear. “Be careful of his ‘Devourer Aspect '.” I responded that I would as she discontinued the embrace. The other 2 were glaring at Rela.

“Now, calm down. If this mission is successful you all shall be rewarded.” They smiled devilishly at my proclamation. I think I am in danger more over here than the confrontation with Lucien. “Well, what are you waiting for? Be off! Take Kurneer with you!” Rela and Emma boarded Kurneer. “Protect Emma”, I whispered to Kurneer. He made a clicking sound before heading off with the 2 of them. Ilya immediately chased after.

“Well, she should have no problems keeping up. Now then…” I returned my attention to the battlefield to see several soldiers trying to surround Lucien. Little do they know that this is when Lucien is most dangerous. For one it is a full moon where his stats are enhanced, and secondly, it is the worst to fight him in groups. He is one of the main reasons why players feared going into my castle; in fact, a lot of people would proclaim “Eliah just got lucky to get such an overpowered subordinate.” This was due to his aspect, “The Devourer”.

“The Devourer” is an aspect of shadow. An aspect can be many things, but most people consider it a magic and an emotion intertwined. Only NPC’s could have these aspects in the game, and the NPC’s with those aspects were considered the strongest enemies in the game next to bosses; in fact, players would consider them within the top .1% of enemies. “The Devourer” was a strong aspect as well.

The more enemies that attack him the stronger he will become as he devours their fear. He will continue to devour and devour until he becomes satiated. Once he is satiated he will have no more room to grow, but by then a whole city could be destroyed. The only other food he could devour is super dense shadow magic. In the game it would give me a prompt occasionally, and I would just feed him; however, this is different. I am going to have to feel the magic power, and transfer it to him while fending him off.

I stretched my shadow to the battlefield in front of the soldier that was about to be struck by the large claws of Lucien “Shadow: Warp”. I warped in and stopped his wrist with my arm. Immediately I felt a weight that was larger than anything I’d felt since coming here, and this was with Lucien holding back. I need to act fast.

Immediately I produced tendrils of shadow that wrapped around the large werewolf trying to contain him. The soldiers behind me were yelling about something, but I was hyper focused on only Lucien in front of me. An icey shadow started to pour out of his body and began to overtake my own shadow. It didn’t take long for the ice shadow to envelope my own and begin to launch itself towards me. I dodged to the side, and as I did a wave of soldiers behind me were taken out by one spell; however I found myself grinning.

The wolf in front of me was also grinning as I rushed in. He swiped at me with his left claw at an insane speed. It reminded me of when Ilya leapt from the mountain. I instinctively knew that this attack would be very bad, but I was already close. I crossed my arms and turned to the side to receive the attack. As I did I felt the crushing of bones in my arms as they shattered, followed by me flying away towards the forest.

I crashed through several trees, but in the instant before I was about to hit the ground on my back he was above me with both fists clasped together about to slam them down on me. The world looked like it moved in slow motion as his fists were coming down towards my chest. Oh shit, this is bad. If that hits me with his full force my sternum will be crushed, but I didn’t have time to think.

I stretched a shadow to a nearby tree and wrapped a tendril around it pulling me towards it. As I was launched towards the tree I launched Ice shards at his eyes. He blocked them with one hand as they shattered, but the instant he covered his eyes I used the tree to slingshot around and launched myself towards his leg. I pulled out a ceremonial serpent dagger from my shadow inventory and stabbed it into his leg.

He howled in pain but then he sent a sharp kick towards my ribcage. The instant the kick hit me I could tell that my ribcage was shattered as I was sent flying into the air again. Then I heard a voice resound inside of my head.

“Just what are you doing, I wonder? You have the power to defeat him right here.” The voice resembled my own. It was as if the real Eliah was talking to me recently. “That’s because we are the real Eliah?”

As I started my descent towards the ground I aimed my arms towards the Lycan and launched a huge shadow, but reality wasn’t so kind as to let me beat him with just that. He launched his own shadow that was just as large as my own. Except I could tell that this one was a much colder shadow.

The instant our shadows collided mine was completely enveloped. Following that, I too was completely enveloped in shadow, and the world around me turned dark.
