Chapter 25: Ilya VS Cultists

To be frank I hate that I can’t be by my lady’s side as she fights with our old comrade. As I run towards the south gate alongside Kurneer and the others atop of him I can only think about my failures. “Ilya don’t look so down, there is no way the goddess will lose to that beast.”

“That ‘beast’ is called Lucien and he is one of our old comrades.” Rela scolded Emma. Emma responded by hanging her head. The more I look at her the more I am reminded of the ice witch. The resemblance is uncanny. I wonder if our Queen chose her for that very reason?

It didn’t take us long to arrive at a chaotic battlefield. There were soldiers and adventurers fighting with forest wolves and ratkurn all around. Brin was one of the ones fighting. I guess Rela already made her puppet start fighting. The people were cheering at Brin’s performance as he tore through the beasts in front of him. Honestly, I don’t know what they find impressive. I am sure even Emma will be capable of this if she uses her ice magic.

As we arrived on the scene with Kurneer several people looked dejected over our arrival. They probably thought we were an enemy. Well time to show them that they are looking at the strongest people in this kingdom besides the Queen. Quickly I put power into my legs and leapt across the battlefield towards the entrance of the forest where the wolves are coming from. The soldiers will be able to handle those lower life forms, and Rela will probably let Emma deal with plenty of those wolves to raise her level. I looked back at Rela, and she simply nodded at me.

Inside the forest I could sense dozens of stronger life forms than the ones from earlier. I could also sense humans ahead. “They must be the cultists. How should I deal with these trees that are in the way?”

I charged air mana into my mouth, and then I simply exhaled. I produced a loud torrent in front of me causing the trees in a large area as well as several lower life forms to be blown away. Most of them died instantly. The ones that were still alive attempted to run away, but I threw blades of wind at them, severing their pathetic heads from their pathetic bodies. 

“This is why I hate bugs. They run at the first sight of fear.” In the end there were only 5 stronger variants of wolves remaining, and 1 cultist at the center of those wolves. 

“You! Just what are you doing? Why are you trying to ruin our lord's plans? Don’t you want the true lord to awaken to her true power?” The more I looked at this cultist, and the more he talked the more my anger boiled. 

“You are a disgusting piece of filth. You are not even fit to lick my feet let alone go anywhere near my queen! You just need to die like the trash you are!” I put as much power into launching myself as I did that day. The day I was reunited with my queen. I closed the distance instantly as the ground where I was shattered. The wolves ended up blocking my way so I started to rip through their torsos while flying.

“These guys won’t even be fit as a wall for my queen.” I said as I tore through the fire wolf at the end of the line. I landed in front of the cultist, and he started to sweat profusely.

“No this isn’t what he…” Before he could finish I cut him off by severing his head from his miserable shoulders.

“Never, ever, where that crest again before me, not even in the afterlife. You are not fit for such a thing.” 

I turned around and then I noticed a giant shadow descend upon the entire city. Even the battlefield where Rela and Emma were was being engulfed. People were panicking everywhere, but me, I just smiled. I knew that my queen was about to pass her judgment. I knew that these pathetic life forms could do nothing but grovel at her feet.

I myself had to bow down before her greatness, and several people were praying for salvation to the gods. They were screaming something incoherent as the shadow took their voices from them.
